Ideas for a thirteen year old???

Hello all..me my husband and our two sons 4 and 13 are going to disney soon..and i want to know will my 13 year old year old son will be bored..at some of the slower parks like magic kingdom..are there some things that he will like or will he be totally bored out of this mind..???!?!? thanks..also in the other parks thanks

We have 3 thirteen y.o.'s They love the magic kingdom. That & MGM are their favorites. They are however disney nuts (due to brain washing at a young age. lol) They are all very different individuals. 2 love roller coaster type rides, one does not. They love splash mtn. space mtn, big thunder, buzz light year is good for all ages. Also Philharmagic, Pirates of the Caribean, Tea cups, There are other things too. They also got alot of pleasure from watching their baby sister (11mnths at the time) last July.

To give you an idea of what kind of kids they are, here is a quick profile:

all are in Color guard & drama
1 love sports - football, basketball especially golf
2 like the show Digrassi
1 likes rap music
1 like country music
1 likes pop music
They like the show fear factor
2 like the show Gilmore Girls
They all like American Idol.
1 is an honor roll student
1 is mostly A/B student with a C here and there
1 is mostly B student with a few Cs here and there.

My 13 year old, boy, doesn't get bored, at all! He enjoys rides, shows and parades. The only thing he didn't get into, on our last trip (Dec. '04), was character autographs and photo's. But being that you have a younger one, too, he may enjoy helping the little one get autographs. I remember one year my son was about 4 or 5 and my youngest brother, who was about 12 or 13, at the time, went to Disneyland, with us. My brother had so much fun taking my son to see the characters and doing all of the "kiddie" things, Such as toon town. He more or less had an excuse to act like a kid eventhough he was a cool teenager.

My 13 year old son still enjoys the character breakfasts and getting autographs. Don't worry, he'll have a great time.

Take him to disney quest, water parks, rent mouse boats, eat around the world in epcot, ToT, RRC, Splash mountain, Space mountain, let him collect the pennies if he doesn't want to do the autograph thing, get ice cream at beaches & cream, eat at sci-fi, play millionaire game, watch the lion king show, Oh and don't miss fantasmic. There are so many things your son will love. It truly is a magical place. Buy him a park about the parks so he can get excited about all the rides & shows before hand. We enjoy all the theme parks and my kids are Roller coaster junkies. We have been to cedar point but they still love WDW. So go enjoy and let him help you plan! I have two DDs 17 and 16 then a DS 13. He likes all the stuff at disney. Heis favorites though are space mountain, Mission Space, Character Hunting (call it hunting makes it more of a challenge) Splash mountain and buzz lightyear. (tries to beat his Dad on points). He says anything but Small World. (not his favorite song or themes) He also recommends seeing the candy lady at Epcot's Japan. (The candy taste good afterward too). Have your guy just be a kid. I think today most kids still want to be young and believe in Disney it is just they worry about peers when they admit it. You may be surprised to find out he is still a kid at heart. My advice is don't set him up to think he will see it as childish, assume he will enjoy everything and seem surprised if he doesn't want to do soemthing instead of shocked if eh does.

I'm still a newbie to the boards also. I learn something new every time I log on. Welcome. I'm afraid I can't help with the off site dinner show, but I can help with the teen thread. Once you have logged onto disboards.com you should see a list of "title" threads. ex. budget, families,community, etc. this is where you should see one titled teens. Click on this it should bring you to that thread. the penny collecting I will try to explain. In WDW the have machines scattered throughout the resorts and parks (ex. I believe there is one where you would pick the picture they take of you on splash mtn up) What the machine does after you put in a quarter is squish a penny down & inprint it with a disney scene. The machines have different "themes" to them. It's been awhile, but I believe you have to supply the penny in addition to the quarter fee.
I hope that explains that for you. There are so many helpful people on these boards. I'm sure they can probably explain it better if needed. Please don't be afraid to ask anything. At first I was, because I had read one post that seemed like the people were getting nasty, but it's difficult to tell sometimes as you can't see expressions & body language. Almost everyone is helpful & remarkably pleasant.

As far as outside dinner shows we have never done any but inside MK as far as character dinner goes my kids like the Crystal Palace. Tigger is always good for a laugh or two. We try to get the last seating for lunch because it's cheaper and they feed you so much you usually don't want dinner. Or do breakfast last seating and skip lunch. You get the idea.

when i went on wdw trips as a teenager with my family (some years ago) i always liked to have some down time to myself, a day to sleep in, go to the pool, spa, etc. i also enjoyed the thrill rides, water parks and downtown disney.
