Ideas for 75th birthday gift for Mother in Law?

I can't think of a specific item, but generally anything personalized with regards to family, children, grandchildren will probably be very appreciated. Have fun!

Does she like to go to the casinos? If so then give her $75 worth of rolled coins.

Have everyone give a favorite picture with her put it on scrapbook paper along with a lovely note about the memory.

Is she an active and independent 75? Or a dear, sweet, frail 75? Somewhere in between?

What about a new comfy fleece robe and slippers?

Is she a reader, buy alot of new novels to read, or her Old favorite music to listen to?

Does she do needle work, you could take her shopping for supplies?

What about a Family Tree filled in with all the family listed on it for her.

We gave my mom an "I Remember...." sort of book for her to fill out about her life. She gave it back to us the next Christmas and we really enjoy reading about it. There was so much in there that we didn't know, and she loved filling it out.

If you have digital photos, you could put together a really nice memory book on shutterfly.com. They have lots of other neat gifts, too.

You could pay for someone to take care of her lawn (or laundry, or housecleaning, or shopping) for a year.

We always give my mom a bunch of birthday cards, anniversary cards, etc. and a book of stamps; along with a calendar that lists all of the family's bdays and anniversaries. (that's a better xmas gift, though......because of the calendar starting in January....)

You can have a blanket personalized with all of the grandchildren's names.

Oh,Oh, I just remembered this!! From The View on ABC,

Everyone knows how crafty Rosie is, so just in time for tomorrow's holiday, she showed us all how to make the most personal and creative Valentine's day gifts for under 20 dollars, using the following simple supplies:

Family Photo's copied to Black and White or Sepia Tone at Kinko's
• Wood boxes
• Spray painted
• Puffy & paint pens, for decorating
• Fabri-Tac & Mod Podge
• Wood craft markers
• Adornments, such as buttons, stickers, glittery items or Fabric Trims

And now everyone can create one-of-a-kind presents for their loved ones without breaking the bank. If you would like to do the same, log on to the A.C. Moore website at acmoore.com.

What about a "boquet" of gift certs/cards to a beauty salon for manicure, hair, pedicure, etc. I also love all the ideas with the pictures. There was a thread on here about making a photo DVD that sounds like a great project to start now for next Christmas!!!

We gave this wreath as a 100th birthday gift and it was a hit.

Does she like music? We found a CD that had some very special "old" songs on it and DH's grandma loved it. We asked his mom about any songs that she remembered from her childhood or when her parents had been "dating". We found an old collection that included those special songs and it really brought tears to her eyes to listen to that CD. I loved the look on her face as she listened and sang along! :goodvibes
You could tell that she was transported back in time, as she enjoyed those old tunes.

Along the line of a CD, you can also find collections of the old radio shows...before the TV was invented or accessible to all.

Good luck!

I have a cute idea that my MIL really enjoyed for her 75th. I gave her a framed list called '75 Reasons We Love You....". I had the grandchildren start telling me all of the reasons they loved their grandma and I took most of them verbatim (which was even more charming). My DH and I threw in a few also (it was obvious which were from the kids - i.e. 'because you make the BEST cookies'). At the end we all signed the sheet and I framed it in a nice picture frame - she now has it on her fireplace. Even though we had given her a few more 'material' item, she still says that was the best gift she received.

we threw her a party and had people write favorite memories [we also sent out return stamped envelopes for out of town friends] and pictures. We gave her a scrapbook full of these...plus greetings from past and present presidents, governor, etc.

Also we bought her a digital picture frame that she keeps in her apartment.

The kids made her a giant poster that she has hanging in her apartment.

She received a little stuffed bear with a birthday hat. This was her favorite gift! Go figure!

I am in the middle of planning my grandmothers 80th birthday and we did the same thing. Sent out paper to lots of her friends, and asked them to write a memory of my grama on it. When they send it back I hope to put it in a sprial bound book for her (through Kinkos) so she can go through it easier. I'm also making a scrapbook for her with pictures of her and her family from birth to now. That would be a HUGE undertaking, so we're just doing a few pictures for each 5 years or so........

How about a money tree? We had a small tree and attached 90(for my nana) dollar bills to it. It was really cute and she loved it!
