Ideas for 40th Birthday

We'll be at WDW for my 40th birthday and I'm having a heck of a time picking a restaurant. I made a reservation at the California Grill, but I am seriously second guessing it. Our party has picky eaters and we're not an overly formal, fancy dining bunch! We do want to try something new, and maybe order a custom cake. Any ideas for a last minute change? TIA

Is Hoop dee doo a possibility? Definitely not fancy, its BBQ food (which is really good) and it's very entertaining. They make a big deal out of celebrations.. Bdays, anniversaries, weddings etc it's a great time

I think California Grill is a good choice. It's not overly formal, and there is some good variety on the menu for your picky eaters. The combination of the celebration, MK fireworks (in your honor that night, of course) and the excellent food should make for a memorable birthday celebration.

While I'm not particularly a big fan of the place, Whispering Canyon has foods most will enjoy and a certain level of frivolity that would suit a party. I'm sure you can arrange for a cake to be delivered there.

That was EXACTLY what I was going to suggest. That place is a freaking blast, great food, great drinks if you love huge beers.

We will be there for my husbands 40th next month and he picked Chefs De France. He probably would have picked Biergarten had we not just been there last year. He figured the French menu looked good!

Happy birthday! We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday last year at WDW, and will be celebrating mine this year. I would suggest picking a restaurant that you love - it's your birthday after all! We celebrated at Skipper Canteen for my husband because the Jungle Cruise is his favorite ride, and we had a blast. I was nervous about it because the menu is so different, but we all found something we liked. Our server was very entertaining, and all the servers in the restaurant signed a menu that he got to take home. I ordered two celebration cakes for the meal because k didn't realize how far in advance you have to order custom cakes, but they were still nice.

I'm still trying to choose the restaurant for my birthday. I'm torn between Be Our Guest, 1900 Park Fare, and maybe the new one at Disney Springs called The Edison, if it opens in time. 'Ohana is probably my favorite restaurant, but we always celebrate our anniversary there so it can't be my birthday dinner.

Artist Point is very nice. Had a custom cake delivered there last year for a HS Graduation dinner.
The restaurants in Epcot might be nice as well - we celebrated a birthday at Tutto Italia several years ago.

We ate dinner at The Wave for my 35th this past December and really enjoyed it. We have also done Le Cellier for birthdays, but it is pricey and the tables are wayyyy too close together

Thanks for the great ideas. I will look into Biergarten and HRR - we've never done either of those! And we have the Wave on our list for the trip since we're staying at CR. We've heard good things about it
