Here’s my ideal Park Ticket Discount for DVC members….

Purchase a 3 DAY Magic Your Way Base ticket and get a free upgrade to a Magic Your Way Premium Ticket for you and your guests staying in the same room for the entire length of stay (up to 10 days).

RULES:
(1) A three night minimum stay is required

(2) At least one DVC member must be staying in the room

(3) A 3 DAY Magic Your Way Base ticket must be purchased for everyone in the room. All tickets must be used within 14 days of first use, unless the No Expiration Option is purchased.

(4) The upgraded Magic Your Way Premium Ticket will be issued for the entire length of stay (up to 10 days)
(NOTE: The number of days issued may not exceed the length of stay)

(5) DVC member will be able to purchase Park Tickets upon check-in.
(NOTE: Length of stay tickets will be based on a single room reservation number reserved with DVC points; it can not be combined with other room reservations)

(6) Premium Park Ticket includes unlimited park hopping for length of stay (up to 10 days) and the number of Water Park Fun & More visits will be based on the length of stay ticket.

WIN – WIN
(a) WIN for DVC members to get discounted park ticket prices for family and friends staying with you

(b) WIN for DVC to get existing members to purchase additional points for longer onsite stays and larger accommodations and attract new members to consider the overall value of buying into DVC for savings on both lodging and tickets.

(c) WIN for DISNEY PARKS to get DVC members to spend money at the parks during their visit (vs opting for other offsite attractions) at a minimum expense

UPDATED TO ADD WHAT I STATED IN POST #14

I’m not suggesting that DVC replace the annual pass discount. I’m just suggesting an additional discounted ticket option.

Even for those who purchase the annual pass, there might be years when the purchase of an annual pass doesn’t make sense. DVC members who normally get the annual pass could use this additional discounted ticket option during years when they’re using most of their DVC points for non WDW stays (i.e. Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, RCI exchange, Concierge Collection, Hawaii, Hilton Head, Vero, etc).

But why would they need to do this? They already have our money for lodging. They don't need to entice us any further to come to WDW.

I like the idea of phyllisnnj's DVC 'Magical Upgrade' if you will, but I also doubt Disney would ever do it.

I personally have two things I'd like-

1) The ability to use Magic Your Way WDW ticket days (We have No Expiration Park Hoppers now) at Disneyland & California Adventure (Can you do this now? I haven't tried but don't think so...)

2) An Annual Pass that covered both US locations- WDW & DL! Maybe make that a DVC Member only item once VGC opens? ;-) Then again, I don't know if the $$$ would make it worthwhile for me; we don't spend every day in the parks currently, but...

I've covered this under the "WIN-WIN" section above.

They already have our money for lodging.
Because they have my money doesn't mean that they should stop trying to find ways for me to spend more of my vacation dollars at DisneyWorld. I can always sell my lodging.
I'm also a potential future customer for add-ons and I'm someone who can recommend DVC to my friends and family.
They don't need to entice us any further to come to WDW.
Perhaps for you but for me it's a different story. My 10 day non expiring Premier ticket now costs me twice as much as it did four years ago.
Disney World is my all time favorite family destination however for me, there is really no incentive to own if I plan to visit the parks less often. It's cheaper to stay offsite and visit the other Orlando attractions.

I would also like to see that. Most other theme/amusement parks do that. I've already used my Annual Pass for Dorny Park (part of Cedar Fair) in Allentown, PA at Cedar Point in Ohio, and Knott's Berry Farm in California! Wouldn't it be wonderful in you could get a DISNEY Annual Pass and use it at ANY Disney park world-wide? It'd be too much of a financial/reporting headache as all the Resorts operate independently without much synergy.

But DL is so backwards. You can't charge to your room key, you can't add your tickets to your room key. The room key is just a room key. I don't see how they could have a universal ticket. Plus WDW has four parks, DL has two, DLP has one?

I have done this with non-expiring park hoppers from WDW at DL. You take it to the entrance, give it to the ticket taker and tell them it is a Disney World ticket. They give it to a supervisor, who takes it somewhere and returns with your WDW ticket minus one day and a 1 day DL ticket (or hopper if that is your WDW ticket).

I was out there in December at Paradise Pier, they do now use the room key for charging. It has your name on it, just like WDW. Don't know about tickets, I have a DL AP.

That's cool. I just might try that next time I'm in CA, or at least I'll ask around to see if they still do before I leave. I'd hate to miss a web discount rate if they don't do it any more by then (probably be Oct. 2010 at the earliest before I'm at DL next...)

I think we already have the ideal park ticket discount with our $100 discount on APs!!

There are many of us whom only travel to WDW once and year and do not get APs. So a discount on a length of stay ticket would be nice.

No of course Disney does not have to do this - but - like I said - it would be nice for the DVC'ers who do not purchase APs.

What about us AP holders that are DVC members? And please don quote the big discount we get...as a Florida resident that particular perk doesnt really give us such a big bang ;) as it does for Non-Florida residents.

I like the annual pass.

it was inconvenient during our trip last summer, had to use a slip of paper to charge:confused3

i was told the computer would be updating 'very soon'

I was out there in December at Paradise Pier, they do now use the room key for charging. It has your name on it, just like WDW. Don't know about tickets, I have a DL AP.

glad to hear it:thumbsup2

main reason that we didn't buy WDW APs last year was because we spent our summer trip @ DL & their tix r very reasonably priced

I think we already have the ideal park ticket discount with our $100 discount on APs!!

ive championed a general $100 discount on any tix in the past, yet understand why they stick w/the AP discount...one last repeat visit lure:)

since i decided not to add on @ BLT:sad1: had some extra dough burning a hole in my pocket:rolleyes: & sprung for 3 nights on the platinum plan this summer pre VWL:goodvibes .

very reasonable as the entire pkg was 25% off including the park tix! I bought the 6 day, PH, no expiry ones & will upgrade @ the gate, along w/my DVC discount...total AP price pp = approx $300:thumbsup2

spending money to save money = the great american way:upsidedow

This would be great for us. We don't visit enough to purchase the annual pass and the park passes are so very expensive for our family of 5. With the economy being in the condition it is in, Disney should consider additional discount opportunities for member who do not benefit from the annual pass discount.

I have the ideal ticket discount for me now.

The "deal" the OP posted seems WAY too complicated LOL! And it would be a LOSS for me because I go often for VERY short stays.

KEEP THE AP DISCOUNT!

I can't imagine why Disney would do this. (Yes, I read the "win-win" section.) Think about why Disney offers an AP discount...what does an AP discount encourage? Yep, that's right - it gives you a perceived incentive to visit more than once per year. For DVC members, this can often mean borrowing points more often (leading to the inclination to add on) or...*gasp!* paying cash for some nights.

And another thing - I don't think Disney is too eager to offer admission discounts to non-members staying with members. They'd much rather convert them to members and then give them an AP discount!

As for whether or not they should still try to lure you into spending more money - look at discounts as a limited pot. They are only going to give out a certain number of discounts. They have to consider their audience and are wise to dole out the most attractive* discounts to the people who are least likely to visit and visit often. It isn't that they don't want to give DVC members discounts - truth is they don't WANT to give anyone a discount. The discounts they do give aren't really rewards, they're marketing dollars spent in different ways.

*An attractive discount isn't necessarily a great money saver. It's one that makes the buyer feel she or he is getting a good value for money spent.

If not anything else, I would like to see $100- savings on 10 day NE hopper tickets- If an AP is not cost effective but a 10 day (the longest ticket pass available) w/ hopper (same as AP benefit) and make it NE (so you can use on multiple trips if not going more than once in a year) - $100- is same discount on AP's and on 10 day ticket of that type it would make it slightly higher than AP price but beneficial to use for those of us that can't stay 10 days or longer in one calendar year...
I would always get the 10 day NE hopper knowing I could use it until gone to buy again...
Oh! & there wouldn't be a renewal discount so Disney is still making money on us.
As it is, I can go stay in my resort and have a great time w/ the themed pools and activities around the resort if I don't want to get park tickets.
If money gets tight, we will likely still go, (It is paid for) but just enjoy the resort (Disney will make very minimal money on us that way since we would more likely do more meals in our villa as well since we would not be "In the parks"- It could work- Hope they think about it at least!

KEEP THE AP DISCOUNT!
