Idea to Revive WDW's Toontown

To avoid confusion, this is just an idea that I would propose to Disney if the company accepted ideas from Disney fans. As you may have heard, Toontown at WDW’s Magic Kingdom is going to be closed permanently to allow Fantasyland to expand with new attractions. A solution to bring Toontown back from extinction is to re-locate it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at either near the Animation Courtyard or behind the Streets of America backlot. It could still have original attractions such as The Barnstormer and some others from Disneyland’s version of Toontown like Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. Toontown would be a perfect fit at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because it is an animated land and animation is one of the main themes of the park.

I agree with the OP. I've been saying for a while that DHS needs a serious overhaul to focus more on themeing and branding. One of the main aspects of that would be a large "animation" section subdivided into four parts: Classic Disney, Playhouse Disney (Disney Jr.), Disney XD, and (a much expanded) Pixar Place. Aspects of the MK Toontown would fit in well with Classic and/or Playhouse sections.

No thanks. WDW's Toontown has always been a sad imitation of the one at Disneyland. Would rather see WDW put money toward something new and different rather than relocating / replicating the mediocre.

You're really going to miss Toontown that much? I have a 3 year old who gets bored there after an hour and he seems to be more of the key demo than most of us.

You think they don't "brand" enough in their parks?

Hmmm...do tell how you see that to be the case...they operate a collection of gated advertisements and giftshops in Florida as it is already...

The Toon Town at DL was designed for it. TT at WDW was forst "Mickey's Birthdayland" and then another name before finally going to be TT. I think the DL TT is much better.

A totally redone Toontown would be great, Studios would be a great choice for classic disney toons to appear in their own toon themed town. Interactive queue lines and everything toony.

As previously mentioned the current Toontown Fair was never ment to be like the one at DL, DHS could really use some Disneyfication and this would be a great way to do it. DHS might as well become PHS (Pixar Hiollywood Studios) for whats its worth.

I agree with the OP....doing toontown right at DHS would make sense. For the people that are complaining that it would suck to move it from MK to DHS, you are right. The point would be to fix what was wrong with it at MK. It was not very well planned out and just kind of cropped out of nowhere without a real plan. Doing it the right way, at DHS could have great potential.

Yes, several times but I'm not exactly sure why that's relevant to a WDW discussion. Since the Jolly Trolley closed at DL their TT is only marginally better than WDW in my opinion.

I would say way better seeing it has a CTicket dark ride.

Also I said that because if how much better DLs is that mat kids woudnt get bored that fast.

I think they should make toontown into something similar to the online game. They need some cogs walking around, etc. I think it would be fun for the kids that play toontown online.

Only problem would be you would have kids throwing pies, squirting water and trying to lure them on to the train tracks to get run over.

I will definately miss TT. Being completely in love w/ Mickey, was so excited to visit his house. And my son loves the barn stormer. Not sure he's ready for the big kid roller coasters yet.

The good news is that the Barnstormer is staying. According to the recent PR, it will be rethemed somewhat to fit the "circus" atmosphere of the new area, so there will be some downtime, but probably not a whole lot. And it is indeed an excellent way to gauge how well a younger or more timid child is going to do on coasters before trying some of the moderate-intensity coasters like Big Thunder.

Mickey's and Minnie's houses look to be gone for good, though.
