Idea: Primeval World Diorama for the Walt Disney World Railroad?

Alright, so, I have no idea if this was the correct place to post this... so if it is in the wrong section, please forgive me! I recently had a thought of a (probably way too late) possibility that Disney could’ve considered to “plus” the journey around the Walt Disney World Railroad (especially with how long it’s been closed, they could’ve used this extra time). But of course, there’s like... ZERO chance that Disney would ever care enough to do something like this... pandemic or not...

Anyway! Those who have been on the Disneyland Railroad before will know how much more “full” of an experience it is in comparison to what you see along the way on the Walt Disney World Railroad (perhaps inside Splash Mountain and viewing the backside of Big Thunder aside). Now, what I thought could’ve been cool is if when Disney closed Ellen’s Energy Adventure to make way for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, instead of scrapping all the dinosaur animatronics that were inside the show building, they could have potentially tried to give them a new lease on life by relocating many of them to a new show building display tunnel they could’ve built along the Walt Disney World Railroad line much in the same vein of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World diorama at Disneyland (just without the Grand Canyon portion). With as many animatronics there were in the Universe of Energy’s diorama, they could’ve potentially just done a larger dinosaur-centric version of the Disneyland diorama.

At first I had the thought they would put it between the backside of Space Mountain and Main Street Station like the Disneyland version, but that probably wouldn’t be adequate enough space and would stick out since you can see that walking from the Contemporary and such, plus the land level and grading are kind of strange over there. But I thought about the rest of the route and seem to recall that from the point you pass the Big Thunder area and travel around the top left corner of the park before heading to the Fantasyland station, there was a big swampy area of nothingness that they could develop into something like this to actually give more of a scenic point along the train route.

I adore the railroads of the Disney parks and really wish Disney would give more TLC to the WDW journey with the amount of space they have along the line. However, since Ellen shut down in 2017, there’s a very good chance that Disney has destroyed almost all (if not all) of the dinosaur animatronics without giving it a second thought, wether they were scrapped for parts or for other reasons.

So, like I said, I know that even if they had the means to and there was no pandemic, they wouldn’t bother with such a thing... but I kind of just wanted to float this concept out there and see what others thought of it. I don’t know... I think it could’ve been a fun enhancement to repurpose some classic EPCOT figures, give a little wink and nod to the Disneyland Railroad, and give some more scenic purpose to WDW’s railroad.

Likewise, I’m not expecting much, but I hope the train tunnel they’re building through the TRON building has some cool wrap-around projection effects or something (kind of in the same vein as the old PeopleMover Through the World of TRON back in the old days in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland). That would be pretty cool to all of a sudden feel like your train gets uploaded to the grid or what have you and starts to appear like it’s traveling at a faster speed and has light cycles zooming alongside and all around you and all of that... but, knowing the Disney of today, I’m sure that’s too much extra effort/money and it will just end up being a standard train tunnel to pass through the site without bothering to embrace the fact it is, in fact, passing through the attraction.

But yes, with the railroad being closed for so many years now, it got me thinking about all this stuff... thoughts??

I think anything large scale with physical sets is not happening - would be cool, but I don't think the space is there with how they built the retaining walls

I have been thinking about how the train will pass through the Tron area - I don't think it has even been confirmed there will be a tunnel. Assuming there is one though I do think something with projections would be pretty cool, though not sure what they would project - try to keep the immersion of an old time train or make it like you are in the future?

Maybe leverage the MCU Universal Neural Teleportation Network to make it look like you temporarily transported somewhere during that stage and get some more of that sweet, sweet Marvel IP in the park?

Well, even if they wanted to, like I said... I’m sure they’ve already destroyed all their dinosaur animatronics way back in 2017 or something. They probably don’t exist anymore anyway!

Regarding TRON... who knows for sure but I do recall seeing a tunnel through the area on the concept art. But again, who the heck knows if that will actually show up. But I imagine it would, even if it’s just a plain tunnel, just to hide the train from the coaster and the coaster from the train...

Hah. This reminds me of one of our WDW visits. My DH was really insistent on riding the railroad, which I didn't quite understand. But we rode all the way around. When we got back to the Main St. station, he says, "What happened to the dinosaurs?!" It turns out that he wanted to rsee the dioramas, except that he forgot that was Disneyland, not Disney World! And he was so cagey about why he wanted to ride, so I didn't have the chance to say, "Wrong coast!" until after the ride.

Ha! Nice... I guess that the WDWRR needs some dinos after all! 😂

I kind of wonder whether the WDWRR will ever reopen or will locomotives and rolling stock be relegated to static display and spares for the Disneyland and Santa Fe railroad
Seeing as they just completely refitted/rebuilt the Walter E. Disney, which returned mid summer 2020 and the Roger E. Broggie is currently being rebuilt at Strasburg, I don't see the WDWRR going away.

The locomotives will run just as well at Disneyland and will save on overhaul of the DL locomotives. Plus the train cannot run till TRON is done and that could be this fall or 5 years from now and nobody in the fan community knows the answer to that

They also laid a bunch of new track while the train was shut down but let's not let facts get in the way of the previous poster's wild speculation.

Where I think the ride could benefit from some additional theming is between the end of the frontier theming, through under the backstage bridge, to just before the Fantasyland station. I think the rest of the ride has plenty to catch your attention, but that stretch could use some help. I don’t know that dinosaurs are the right answer, but it would be nice to see something other than trees and that backstage bridge.

Just saw a couple pictures of Rogers rebuild.

The frame was repaired (one side was cracked), the cylinders back on it and a new firebox is built. Thought I saw part of the new boiler shroud in one of the pictures. It's moving along a lot faster than anticipated.
