The size of this rain cloud is amazing, stretching from out at sea past Cape Cod, almost all the way to South Carolina:

As a Nutmegger, I can say we really don't need any more rain. We've had so much this year. It's too bad there's not an efficient way to move it to drought stricken areas of the country like the southwest.

We're supposed to get four inches of rain today, and are under a rare tornado watch (I'm in NJ right across the bridge from Philadelphia). We don't usually flood because our house is built on high ground, but I'm keeping notifications on my phone on for the tornado thing.

Yup. I don't mean to step on the toes of those who suffer when hurricanes hit the coast, but we did just finish a week and a half of a hurricane just last week, now my motorcycle will sit for another week and a half.

Yep, flash flood and tornado watch for us, as I’m close to above Blue, but on the PA side.

We are in the lower part of NJ, below Atlantic City. Our rain is expected to start around 7PM.

Every night on the news they show the wildfires out west followed by the flooding in the east and I think it’s a shame there’s no way to reroute the excess water where it’s needed.

Watching the weather Channel...there's a tornado warning for NYC Metro area. Yikes!!

Stay safe if you're in the area.

I'm also in CT, this is the best our lawn has ever looked, I don't ever recall such a rainy Summer.

South Mississippi- we received 16 inches from Ida.

Added to our already rainy year, we are close to 100 inches for the year- well over our average of about 55 inches for the year.

It’s over our area now. Our severe weather phone alerts keep going off and scaring our cat. When it rains really hard, we get rivers of rain down our driveway and one time our backyard began to form a pond. We’re supposed to get significant rain, but nothing like @Southernmiss

Ugh our weatherman just broke into TV programming and updated us. He used the word deluge. 6 hours of rain, possible tornadoes, flooding and power outages. This is worse than the actual hurricane that was in the area last weekend.

As I sit in the dark I would like to remind you that over 1000000 Louisiana homes are without electricity and will be for weeks. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed and many others badly damaged. No phone, water and limited cell service so 4 inches of rain, bring it on.

Please know that many on the boards are concerned for Louisiana and have been since before the storm was formed.

NYC/NJ is under a flood emergency. Not a flood warning, a flood emergency where loss of life is expected and to get to higher ground asap. Nothing but Ts & Ps for all affected by IDA.

Where are you?

Sitting out some flash flood and (five plus) tornado warnings in the MA area now, ie 2am here. Newscast has continued since 11pm to warn people. Good thoughts for all.

I don't think I've had a rain this heavy 17 years living here in SE CT. No damage at my house, except water in my garage damaged some small items, local flooding was severe in some areas. People were killed in flash flooding in New York. I haven’t looked at SE CT news yet.

Rain and a bit of wind here in northeast MA. My area floods pretty easily because the river through town was dammed for mills, etc. way back when so water doesn't flow away naturally, plus in the way back when they filled in and built on wetlands, so there's no place for the excess water to go. Luckily, we are high on a hill, but at times it becomes an island. Right now we still have school, but the buses may not be able to get down certain streets safely (even though buses are higher than cars) so I'm waiting for a call!

Definitely concerned about the devastation in the south, plus tornado warnings in NYC!?! I hope everyone is able to stay safe and find refuge.
