I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

I dunno- I think I could do a no park visit- there IS so much else to do down there- just BEING when you are at one of the resorts is so nice- people are so friendly, CMs are amazing- ahhhhh....I just LOVE our DVC!!

A no park trip was our plan this year although my DH sometimes can't resist the Epcot lure...and then you post the Epcot food porn. Well, I have to wait for your hanging out section to get our SSR fix. My DH thinks your sons are too cool;)

:goodvibes Just what I need- an Ellen trippie after a VERY crazy and blessed bat mitzvah weekend.

Time to catch up. :surfweb:

This is a great trip report. Really enjoyed it. We are fellow NJ'ers, I used to work in New Providence (right around the corner from you), and we currently live right outside Morristown--AND we are new BCV members, just closed a week ago.

Really enjoying your Trip Report. Perfect mix of story text and pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Thank-you!! I personally like lots of pics in TRs, too, and i take sooooo many when I'm on vacation, so it all works out! :goodvibes I'm really glad the pics are ok- because I just used my Canon point & shoot waterproof camera- didn't want to lug the big camera around with my kids- my next trip, without them, I'll use my DSLR more. :goodvibes

Nothing better than a podsnel tr. Our oldest shows the same emotion when excited

Well, that's so nice of you to say- thank-you! Very funny about your oldest's emotions- my condolences. :rotfl:

I love your TR!:lovestruc Thank you so much for all the pictures!:thumbsup2

Thank-you very, very much!! :goodvibes So happy you like it!

:lmao: This part made me laugh out loud!!! I am just getting around to reading your Trip Report. Very entertaining. We leave for Disney a week from today and I am just loving all the pictures! You have reminded me that I need to get a new camera this week. BTW, I only live about 30 mins from you down the road off 78...

Seriously!! If you ask my kids, "what should Andre's girlfriend do?" they both would tell you- Break up with him & GET A JOB!!!:rotfl:I LOVE to read TRs when I'm getting ready to go to WDW, too. Hope you have a great trip, neighbor! :goodvibes I drive by you every month when I go to Washington to get my hair cut-

Epcot would do me in, too....it's soooo hard to be that close and not visit! I'll do the next post tomorrow- tonight is Timmy's 12th birthday! party: And please thank your DH for his AWESOME compliment!

Thank-you SO much- it really makes my day when people are enjoying what I'm slammin up here! How funny you worked so close by- I grew up in Florham Park, so I'm very familiar with your hometown area, too! :goodvibes Congrats on your NEW home- we LOVE BCV!!! :lovestruc

Caramel Shoppe looks heavenly :cloud9: !!!! I don't know about the rest of my family but it will be my first stop on our next visit to Epcot, they may not see me for the rest of the day :rotfl:

And Kouzzina-rita :drinking1 another must try

Ellen you need to have your own show on FoodNetwork, you find all the good stuff :thumbsup2 !

Happy Birthday Timmy!!! Hope you had a great day!

Back at SSR, we got off at the Springs and crossed the street to get a basketball from Horseing Around- they don't charge you anything for the ball, they just hold onto your room key. The boys took off, and I made a quick stop at the front desk for my package before joining them at the court.

IMG_1168.jpg

There were some families (dads and sons) shooting hoops, and my kids joined in.

IMG_1171.jpg

I gave Pods a call at home to let him know how our day was going, then took some pics walking around. Sorry I didn't have my DSLR with me, or my tripod- these would have been much better if I had! Some were taken with my iphone.

Robin Hood was playing at the pool-

I went back to the room, and soon was joined by Tyler- Timmy was still playing. After I bit Tyler's head off for deserting his little brother, we went back to the court. Timmy was just about done, being that he was the last hoopster standing, so he returned the ball, and went to the arcade. Followed by Tyler using a weight in the gym to do his strengthening exercises for his elbow-

The arcade closed at 10, and we left to go back to our room.

The biggest downside of a studio??? Only one TV...guess who wins that one....

IMG_1180.jpg

It's ok- I was having a glass of wine, so it's not like I had NOTHING to do!!:rotfl: We had enjoyed a very full day, and it was time to rest up for more- in the morning, we were going to spend the day at MK, visit friends at the BLT pool, lose some lanyards once or twice...we really needed to rest up!! :rotfl:

I am sure i will be sent to that Caramel shop with a LAUNDRY LIST of pleeeeeeeez will you bring me backs in 19 days! And, of course, a Kouzzinarita for moi! :thumbsup2 And, sure! Get me a show! :rotfl2: But really, all the people on the restaurant board are the ones who find all the good stuff- I just obsessively read every word they write! :surfweb:

What gorgeous pictures and a great TR!:thumbsup2

Thanks Bobbi!! :goodvibes I'm so happy you like it!

Happy Birthday Timmy!!! Hope you had a great day!

He had a wonderful B-Day, thank-you from Timmy!!-

It was amazing. I have pics on FB. Wanna be my friend? :lmao: ;)

Well, you know the answer to that one, girlfriend!!:hug:

Love Timmy's cake. Now I want cake. :lmao:

Love the photos even taken with a phone. Can't wait to stay there in 539 days. :rotfl2:

Hi, Ellen!!!!
I'm so glad I found yet another one of your wonderful reports! I was checking out the DVC boards, and just so happened to have stumbled across this!! Boy am I glad that I did!

I love that y'all stayed at SSR since that's our home resort, but I have to admit that I never knew there was a basketball court there!!

I'm so glad that you were able to fit this trip in and that Tyler was able to come along as well!

I certainly can't wait to read more!!:thumbsup2

We woke up a little earlier on Tuesday, and while I ran over to fill my mug with Nasty-cafe, Tyler began his am shower-a-thon. We had a LOT of plans for today- we were going to MK for starters....at some point in the afternoon, we were going to head over to BLT, our friends who were staying there were having a pool day, and we were invited to join them. :goodvibes We would go home and shower, and then at night we were meeting some other very special friends at Raglan Road for dinner. Followed by heading back to MK for more night time fun (including the new show on the Castle :worship:). We got to the bus stop at the Springs, and our MOST EXCELLENT transportation mojo continued, with a MK bus pulling up in a minute...WITH seats. Well, for most- I stood, but I didn't mind- the ride is not that long. Anyway, soon we saw...

I REALLY wanted to stop at the MS Bakery, and grab a cheese danish, since I had read they are AMAZING there, but....the lure of FPs on a busy park day called a bit stronger, so we'll have to try that one another time. Checking the Lines App on my miraculous iphone, we decided to grab FPs at Splash, ride BTMRR, and then head over to SM for a ride and more FPs. Sound good? Good!

IMG_1182.jpg

IMG_1183.jpg

I'm sure I should know this, but what are all the pennies for?

IMG_1184.jpg

IMG_1185.jpg

We decided to cram our butts into one car- it was just a little tight!

IMG_1186.jpg

IMG_1189.jpg

IMG_1190.jpg

I love that ride, but I actually had bruises on my hip that day from it!! :rotfl:

IMG_1191.jpg

Boys will be boys....

IMG_1192.jpg

IMG_1193.jpg

The Fantasyland expansion, of course, is in full swing. When is it scheduled to open?

IMG_1198.jpg

I know it will be wonderful when it's finished, but it is just so odd walking through there in the meantime. On line for SM, Tyler again ran over to get FPs, which he put in his lanyard along with the Splash ones. The Stand-by wait was posted at 30 minutes, which i believe they switched right after we went under the sign- we probably waited close to 50. BUT.... the wait really was fine, because of two things- the nice family next to us, from Missouri- they were staying at a friend's house in Celebration, how cool! And....my kids had NO idea there were games to play when you had to wait on line. We all enjoyed the queue because of it.

Cont'd next post-

After Space, we decided to go on the Peoplemover- another favorite thrill ride of Tyler & Timmy's-

IMG_1207.jpg

IMG_1208.jpg

IMG_1210.jpg

IMG_1211.jpg

Just as the ride was ending, I looked at Tyler. Reallly LOOKED at Tyler-

IMG_1204.jpg

Hmmm....something isn't right...something's missing.....HOLY CRAP TYLER!!!!! WHERE'S YOUR NECKLACE???!!!!!!!!:scared1:

My 13 year old had deemed it necessary to ride Space Mountain without the incumbrances of his lanyard...he had taken it off and stuffed it into the pocket of the ride. :headache: And of course, left it on the ride. His KTTW card with charging privileges, his park ticket, FPs....:scared1:. So back to SM we ran, where the very, very calm CM who checked & said nothing had been turned in yet, but we should come back in an hour.

Good stuff. Happy times.

With an hour to kill, we decided to have some lunch...at CHH, another must-do first for us!

IMG_1218.jpg

IMG_1219.jpg

The boys shared Fried Shrimp Basket - Served with coleslaw and French fries - $9.69

IMG_1220.jpg

and Six or Eight Chicken Breast Nuggets - Served with choice of French fries or apple slices. Eight nuggets $7.69 - $7.69

IMG_1221.jpg

and I had an Anchors Aweigh Sandwich - White tuna with lettuce and tomato served on a toasted multi-grain bread. Served with chips or carrots. - $8.09

IMG_1222.jpg

We were eating downstairs....I know Karin had told me to try upstairs, but when I sent the boys up to get a table, they came right back down, it was all full.

IMG_1223.jpg

It was a delicious lunch, made even better by dessert-

IMG_1224.jpg

A recovered lanyard at Space Mountain. :worship: More of our day, and more of "WHERE ARE YOUR NECKLACES???!!!!!?????".....NEXT!

Oh, how I loved seeing that pic of the Castle!!
Sorry that you didn't get to make it to the Bakery! I've always wanted to try it as well, and never have!
I bet you were in a terrible panic when you realized Tyler's lanyard was missing! Aaaack! :scared1:
I can't wait to hear about the rest of the day!:)

:cloud9: MK is my favorite park. I know, there's no booze, but somehow I love it just the same. :rotfl2:

LOVE the People Mover too and was so sad when it left Disneyland like all good things like the Country Bears and CoP. :rolleyes1

Isn't it maddening when the kids lose stuff?!

I think people just pitch the pennies in at BTMRR to make a wish, they aren't placed there by Disney.

Harbour House is one of our favorites. :lovestruc

Love Timmy's cake. Now I want cake. :lmao:

Love the photos even taken with a phone. Can't wait to stay there in 539 days. :rotfl2:

Timmy's cake was gooooooood. The frosting was the BOMB!!! :worship: The recipe was from Epicurious- http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Creamy-Vanilla-Frosting-241564- we all couldn't get over how light and creamy it was- YUM!!:goodvibes
Only 539 days? WOW- you must be getting PSYCHED! ;) :rotfl:

Hi Missy!! :yay: So glad you found me!!

Alot of the DVC resorts have basketball courts- the one at SSR is right next to the tennis courts. I really like your home resort! :thumbsup2

The castle was taken with my iphone. LOVE my iphone! And YES, I was pretty panicked about his lanyard- I kept saying, "WHY WOULD YOU TAKE IT OFF????" But I see in my pics that Timmy had his off sometimes, too. Well, let's just say that by the time this day was done, they had learned their lesson...BOTH of them...:rolleyes1 :faint:

This is a fantastic trip report. You're really making my day! Many thanks.:goodvibes

Oh, how nice! Thank-you!! :goodvibes Thank-you for saying hi!

:cloud9: MK is my favorite park. I know, there's no booze, but somehow I love it just the same. :rotfl2:

I think MK is most people's favorite- I think Epcot is mine, but MK is a close second. :goodvibes I love CoP, too- but we never got on that day- although I did meet a woman (I met a LOT of people on this trip, due to my solo-adult status) on the bus who was VERY late to her DME because she had been stuck on CoP for a half an hour or more...so maybe it was good we skipped it this time.

I really am wondering about the pennies- I never noticed them before, and there are THOUSANDS and thousands of them- they are scattered everywhere. Maybe I usually ride BTMRR at night and never noticed? :confused3

CHH was really good, even if I was pretty distracted while we were eating- another awesome CS! :thumbsup2

I think on this next trip Epcot will gain huge points. We just haven't got to spend enough time in WS. We need to ditch the kids and go to The Ditch!

Michael's favorite is DHS and his least is MK; good thing he's a fabulous chef. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Disneyland has the same pennies and I know my kids throw some in every time. Look around next time and see if you notice anyone *making wishes*.
