I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

Great pics Ellen! :thumbsup2 Makes me so excited to finally stay at SSR next year. ;)

I love Rita, she and I go waaaaay back! :drinking1

The pools look fun too. Can't wait to walk aimlessly around SSR.

The girls went to Disneyland yesterday, I did NOT. I did cruise around the GCH though. Home sweet home. :goodvibes It's so fabulous.

Heading home to Utah today. It's always so bittersweet.

I am sure you will be so happy with your home resort-it is so peaceful and relaxing. Sooooo many places to walk around aimlessly, or ride a bike aimlessly....:thumbsup2

I can't believe THEY went to DL and you did NOT!!! This is the WORST deal ever made!!! You are going to EXPLODE when you finally get to go again!! :rotfl2:

Hope your trip home was a safe one....

Great food pics!!! I really like the Chicken Artichoke flatbread at AP.

Also we always request buffalo sauce for the chicken nuggets to spice em up!

DS loves the Chocolate cupcakes! I will show him this pic. No matter where we stay, we always go to AP for the cupcakes!! He does not like sprinkles and AP is the only place that sells cupcakes without sprinkles!:rotfl: Believe me we have Looked!

SSR looks great and I love how they play the music all over the grounds:love:

Great advice for AP- thanks!! I think the key though is to eat at the beginning of service, whether it's the lunch or dinner hour- the food seems to be alot tastier then.

I would never have noticed the no-sprinkle cupcakes had you not pointed it out. Very interesting and good to know!

I agree about the music, I really enjoyed it while I was walking around. Perfect! :thumbsup2

In just 24 hours I'll be landing in MCO, ready to begin the DISmoms trip- WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! So I thought I'd post an update before I go.....

We got off the SSR bus at MK and were greeted by....

IMG_1278.jpg

Every time, never fails. Never saw it before 2 years ago- now, I see it every trip, whether I want to or not! The park entrance looks GREAT at night-

IMG_1279.jpg

IMG_1281.jpg

IMG_1282.jpg

When we entered the park, the Electric Parade was going by- I was SOOO happy!!! So far I had missed this on every trip!

IMG_1284.jpg

IMG_1286.jpg

IMG_1287.jpg

T&T were heading right for Space Mountain to use the FPs- but I really, REALLY wanted to see the new show on the Castle- the Magic. the Memories & You- so they went over to SM, and I found a spot in the Rose Garden (which I was AMAZED I could find, because the park was still PACKED, people were 5 deep (at least) on Main St! Anyway....here are some of my pics from the show...

IMG_1288.jpg

IMG_1289.jpg

IMG_1291.jpg

IMG_1294.jpg

IMG_1295.jpg

See anyone you know?

IMG_1297.jpg

WOW. Wow wow WOW!!!! Best. Show. EVER!!!!!!! Absolutely amazing!! So glad I skipped SM! I ran over to SM, and T&T texted and said they were just getting off the ride- PERFECT timing!! Wishes began, and Timmy said, "HEY! It doesn't hurt my ears anymore!" :worship: OMG, I do believe there will be fireworks in our future after all! We stood and watched for a minute, but the temptation of a 10 minute wait time at Buzz was to much to resist- so we hopped on the Stand-by line-

IMG_1299.jpg

IMG_1301.jpg

Tyler was VERY excited about his score, screaming, "Gimmee the camera!! Gimmee the camera!!"

IMG_1305.jpg

Next they wanted to go on Splash...so back across the park we went. As we passed under Tink's wire, Timmy noticed it for the first time. My boys, who have either never or rarely seen Wishes due to their need for speed and Fireworks aversion, had no idea what it was for. Although they had PLENTY of crazy ideas about it. :upsidedow

IMG_1308.jpg

Right when we got to the entrance to Liberty Square, the MMY show began again- and I told them we HAVE to stay and see this- you are NOT going to believe it!!

IMG_1309.jpg

IMG_1310.jpg

Even THEY were uber-impressed. It is THAT cool. :thumbsup2 And from where we were standing, Timmy could even figure out how it's done. Kind of. It is completely magical, after all. :wizard:

Up next- Splish Splash, I don't wanna take a bath!!

Love love love the MSEP. :lovestruc It is my favorite parade of all time. I bet I've seen it hundreds of times throughout my life. :lovestruc It makes me so happy.

I also love the castle photos.

:thanks: for my Disney fix today and have a magical DIS moms trip. pixiedust: Can't wait for the report.

Those castle photos are simply amazing! Now I'm soooo excited for this summer!

Have a great time with the DISmoms!

Well, we're back!! Another GREAT time at WDW, this time on the 3rd annual DISmoms trip- 6 women let loose on WDW without husbands or kids! I'll be back to write more soon, and post a link to the new TR. :cool1:

IMG_1675.jpg

Welcome back, I have finally returned to finish up- sorry, but life has been super-duper insane here lately with PTA, Baseball, IEP Meetings, a bereft cousin, and an aunt with Alzheimer's....:sad2: But on witrh the happiest spring break on earth!!:thumbsup2

Soo.... we were headed in the direction of Splash....and I was NOT feeling it. At ALL. I was cold, and I was tired, and I was perfectly happy to just sit on a bench and wait for a parade to come by....but the boys would have NONE of it! I was actually SO surprised- they were really very disappointed that I wasn't going to ride with them.

Awww...they love me...they really, truly love me!

They BEGGED me to ride with them- when I said I was already freezing and didn't want to get colder by getting wet, Tyler offered me his jacket.

How gentlemanly of him- I was so impressed.

And Timmy pleaded, and said he loved me so much, it wouldn't be as much fun without me.

So I said OK....even though in my fugue type state, I was not in the mood for any thrill rides-

Anyway, on we rode, and after the first drop, I took a pic of my happy, loving boys-

IMG_1311.jpg

And after the BIG drop? Well, I was freaked out!! I screamed my ever-lovin head off- and I am not really a screamer, I'm more of a WOO-HOO-ER, if ya know what I mean. Except when I'm exhausted I guess. Here's the proof of my terror!

IMG_1314.jpg

:rotfl2: What a LOSER!!! :rotfl2:

IMG_1312.jpg

We hopped on BTMRR, and managed to sit in the front-

IMG_1315.jpg

Even in my mental state, I could handle that one ok. But when they wanted to ride Splash again, I politely declined- and they let me off the hook to go and watch DEP-

IMG_1316.jpg

IMG_1317.jpg

WHat a fun parade that is, and so nice to have a break from Spectromagic! I went back up to Splash to meet them, and saw this-

IMG_1321.jpg

And realized OOPS! I meant to ride that train this time so i could be nosey and see what was going on in Fantasyland! We headed over to HM, I was very interested to see the new queue- but somehow, we missed it. :confused3 I guess because the ride was a walk on? Anyway, I was pretty surprised I could get this with my little P&S camera-

IMG_1322.jpg

And next I asked the boys if we could go on Snow White, because it was closing soon, for good. I thought they would say, No thanks, and head to SM instead, but guess what?

They LOVE me...they really, truly LOVE me!

So they said Sure Mom! No problem!!

Cont'd next post-

We all piled into the same car, and thank GOD it was not as tight as BTMRR was or as tight as a certain ride with some DISpals was last year.

IMG_1325.jpg

IMG_1326.jpg

IMG_1327.jpg

IMG_1328.jpg

IMG_1335.jpg

I know people are sad it's going, but I have to say- by today's standards it's looking a little cheesy, and I think the new coaster ride will be MUCH more fun- plus, Walt wanted his park to always evolve, right? So, I say, ON WITH EVOLUTION, WDW!! Show us what ya got!! :thumbsup2

We headed for one last ride on SM-

IMG_1336.jpg

And I called it quits, with no arguments from anyone-

IMG_1337.jpg

It was 12:45, and the park was closing in 15 minutes anyway....

IMG_1338.jpg

I have to say, I was so, SO deliriously happy we had come on this trip. My boys were being kids, they were truly 100% happy to be hangin out together and with their Mom in the happiest place on earth-

IMG_1339.jpg

I felt so lucky, and so blessed.

IMG_1341.jpg

We once again had AWESOME Transport mojo, and hopped on the SSR bus that was waiting for us....home at last, we hit our pillows like a ton of bricks, oh MAN did that bed feel good! :cloud9:

Up next- pack it up, pack it in!

Here's a link to all the DISmoms shenanigans, over on the TR board-

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2732915

We stayed at BWV in a 2 bdrm BWV V- and I took LOADS of BWV pics, because it was my first trip HOME since buying those points...:thumbsup2

I can't post the whole thread on Mousecellaneous because it is a joint TR with so many writers- so I hope you will come visit us on...you know...that other board. :goodvibes

Great TR - love your pics!!

Thank-you so much for saying so! :goodvibes

I didn't start going to Disney until I was an adult, so this was a first for me (the EP). Loved it!!

Great update! I can't wait to see MM&Y!!! :woohoo:

Hope you're having a magical time! :wizard:

We had a FABULOUS time!! All we do is laugh...and cry...and laugh again!

Those castle photos are simply amazing! Now I'm soooo excited for this summer!

Have a great time with the DISmoms!

That SHOW is simply amazing! And thanks, we had a GREAT time!!:thumbsup2:cool1::banana::laughing:

What great pictures! Sounds like a great trip.

Thank-you- it was, and I will never forget a moment of it. They grow up toooooo fast!:sad1:

:thumbsup2 Great pic!

Thanks!!:goodvibes

UGH. It was our last morning. How does it always arrive so quickly??? Well, I guess when you are there on a quickie trip, you have no choice but for it to come quickly! :rotfl: But no complaints- we were all happy with all we had done on our little getaway. I packed up our things, made the last breakfast sandwich & poptarts for the boys, and slipped out the door to fill my coffee mug and indulge in one of these-

IMG_1342.jpg

It was a good indulgence, I have to say- especially since I was enjoying it on the balcony with my coffee and the chirping birds. :goodvibes Our boarding passes had been delivered to us in the room- well, all but Timmy's. He had been randomly selected to have to check in at the airport (because all 95 lbs of him is such a scary thought to the airlines. I guess. ). Hey, I'm all into security and random checks, but when they randomly choose the youngest member of my family....well, I guess that just means it's truly random.

Our BIG decision this morning was WHICH PARK???? I left it up to the boys- it could only be ONE park, after all. They quickly chose AK, the natural choice since we had not been this trip. But when I pointed out that they would not have a visit to the Caramel shop or be able to get a cupcake from Starring Rolls- BOTH of these was a BIG priority for them. BIG. Even bigger than any ride or attraction might be.

Aaahhhhh....my little foodies. :lovestruc

So here's what we came up with as a solution- a day in Epcot, and I would make a solo trip over to DHS and Starring Rolls with my AP while they behaved themselves on their own for an hour in EPCOT.

DEAL.

Bell services came and picked up our OL and all of our stuff to store for the day, then it was to the bus!

IMG_1343.jpg

IMG_1344.jpg

2 minutes in, the first bus to pull up says EPCOT on the front- proving we made the right decision for our day, and that we REALLY had some AWESOME transpo mojo on this trip!!

Our first stop in EPCOT was MS-

IMG_1345.jpg

IMG_1346.jpg

It's GO TIME!

IMG_1347.jpg

Mandlebaum....Mandlebaum....

Salute the commander!

IMG_1348.jpg

Such a funny ride when you have done it so many times.

IMG_1349.jpg

Next, we headed to TT, and the single rider line....All the single riders...all the single riders....

IMG_1350.jpg

IMG_1351.jpg

Yea....they're mine- great big GOOF balls, just like Mom. :rotfl:

So as we are standing in the single rider line, Timmy says, "Hey! I know that kid! He was on my baseball team last year!" Apparently this boy and his family & another family from our town were in the Stand-by line (I recognized them, but don't really know them). Timmy tried to get his attention, but they were too far away. So we waited in the single rider line, to be singly placed in a random car with random people.....

Guess who we got! How crazy is that?? Timmy gets put in RIGHT NEXT TO the kid from his team, I am put right behind him next to a Dad from our town.

SO WEIRD!!!!!!!

IMG_1352.jpg

What a funny coincidence! Tyler was right behind us, with people from random towns...-

IMG_1355.jpg

We had FPs for a later ride on TT, and the boys wanted to go back to MS-

IMG_1357.jpg

IMG_1359.jpg

Next, we strolled through the fairy garden....

IMG_1360.jpg

Not quite sure how that thing worked....or IF it worked....

IMG_1361.jpg

IMG_1362.jpg

IMG_1363.jpg

IMG_1364.jpg

IMG_1365.jpg

We were on our way...to find the elusive Shoolbread in Norway...up next!

We turned the corner at Norway, and....no line!! We were finally going to try some schoolbread! We were also going to eat lunch- here is what they had to choose from at Kringla Og-

IMG_1366.jpg

IMG_1367.jpg

IMG_1368.jpg

IMG_1369.jpg

Looks like they were running out of these-

IMG_1370.jpg

IMG_1371.jpg

IMG_1372.jpg

IMG_1373.jpg

We made our choices and sat outside....and shared a couple of these-

IMG_1376.jpg

which were pretty good and of course-

IMG_1374.jpg

and Timmy had-

IMG_1375.jpg

I cut into the Schoolread to share with Ty-

IMG_1377.jpg

It was so moist and it oozed custard, we both LOVED it!! Tyler says yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

IMG_1378.jpg

Timmy says yummmmmmmmmmmmm....

IMG_1379.jpg

I have to say, not that I want to spoil my DISmom TR, but the schoolbread i got on my following trip was the pits- dry, dry, dry and totally lacking the custard- there was barely a drop inside. :sad2: But this first experience was a good one, and because of it, I will always go back in search of it again....

IMG_1381.jpg

IMG_1383.jpg

We continued on around the world....

IMG_1384.jpg

And stopped to listen-

IMG_1385.jpg

IMG_1386.jpg

IMG_1387.jpg

And I looked at my watch and realized...it was time to go in search of a cupcake. Because we were sadly running out of time before our DME...

So I left the boys at Karamel Kuche, told them to behave and be kind and smart about their surroundings, and to stay together!! Then I headed out the International Gateway in my cupcake quest.

Up next- I'd walk a mile for a cupcake!!

So my transport mojo was in FULL FORCE as I walked through the International Gateway....the boat had JUST pulled up, and I walked right on and sat in the back, outside. I proceeded to show my ultimate geekiness on the ride- I was taking camera photos, taking iphone pix and sending them to friends, texting DISmoms and reading a TR on the DIS all at the same time. People on that boat who were sitting next to me kept their distance, and I'm sure they were thinking WHAT. A. FREAK. Mostly because while I was juggling all this, I was laughing OUT LOUD at myself. :rotfl: First stop was BW, and I was so excited because I knew I would be checking in here in just 5 weeks-

IMG_1388.jpg

I think I may have even said "WOOHOO!!! The BOARDWALK!!" out loud. To myself. And my imaginary friends. Who were sitting next to me with LOADS of space between us and the REAL passengers. :rotfl2: Next was-

IMG_1389.jpg

Pretty sure I had something to say about the Beach Club, too....but at this point I was getting alot of polite smiles and sympathetic stares from people keeping their children away from the crazy lady in the back of the boat.

Oh...and it was HOT...REALLY, REALLY HOT. The weather had COMPLETELY changed from the day before- it was close to 98, sticky, humid and still.

Maybe I had heat stroke. Yea- that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it. Heat stroke.

Of course, our next stop was the Swalphin-

IMG_1390.jpg

IMG_1391.jpg

Where adults held their children a little tighter as I took more crazy pictures and continued to amuse me, myself and I. Finally, much to their relief and mine, the slooooooooow boat to DHS arrived, and we were off. I bolted as fast as I could....

IMG_1392.jpg

IMG_1393.jpg

Frantic that the last desired cupcakes would be sold to someone RIGHT before me. :scared1: Can you imagine the scene that would have been! Heat stroke and all! Fortunately, instead of an empty case in Starring Rolls, this is what I saw-

IMG_1394.jpg

IMG_1395.jpg

IMG_1396.jpg

IMG_1397.jpg

IMG_1398.jpg

IMG_1399.jpg

IMG_1400.jpg

IMG_1401.jpg

IMG_1402.jpg

I asked if they had anything to transport the cupcakes in, and they said NO they did NOT. I asked them if they had a bag, and they said NO they did NOT.

Friendly bunch in there.

They handed me 3 pieces of waxed paper, and I took my tray of cupcakes outside, of course, to proceed with the food pornography.

IMG_1403.jpg

Butterfinger cupcake-
IMG_1404.jpg

Peanut Butter cupcake- that one's mine, all mine...I'm RICH! I'm a wealthy miser!!
IMG_1405.jpg

Apparently, heat stroke effects are everlasting.

Marble cupcake- for Tyler-
IMG_1406.jpg

Which attracted the attention of two other heat stroke victims who were having lunch outside. I mean, it's not everyday someone BY HERSELF comes flyin out of Starring Rolls with 3 HUGE cupcakes on a tray, throws them on a table- and doesn't take a bite, just starts taking PHOTOS!!

I mean, REALLY!

So while they were laughing at me, one of them was brave enough to ask what the heck I was doin- so, as fast as I could, I explained that I was an escaped mental patient from the DISboards taking photos of cupcakes that I would be bringing home to NJ that night for my kids who were eating too much caramel at the moment in Karamel Kuche in Germany. A mom's gotta limit sugar intake SOMEHOW.

Makes total sense, doesn't it???

Well, they weren't going to let me on the plane with a tray of cupcakes, so I knew I had to get a bag from SOMEWHERE. So I stopped in the store on the opposite corner.

IMG_1407.jpg

And waited for what seemed like hours for the one CM to finish explaining to the only other customers in the store everything that they did not HAVE in the store, multiple times. When her detailed explanation of why they don't sell turkey legs in that particular venue had finally concluded, I was able to ask, "Would you PLEASE give me a bag for these cupcakes that I am bringing home to eat in NJ?"

And she said, "Of course! They just gave me bags for just that purpose."

....

....

Ok- heat stroke or not, I am pretty sure that if Disney is putting bags in stores to bring home cupcakes to NJ, maybe they should start, umm...I dunno.....IN THE CUPCAKE STORE!!!!!!

I thanked her and her elite force of shopping bag procurers, and flew out the door. But, of course, took a pic-

IMG_1408.jpg

then ran for the DHS exit, where I saw....

all my travel mojo had just. run. out.

Cont'd soon-

O.K., I have to ask, or maybe I should be asking the dismoms, but, do you talk like you write. If so, you are one funny lady. :)

O.K., I have to ask, or maybe I should be asking the dismoms, but, do you talk like you write. If so, you are one funny lady. :)

Well....you probably would never catch me saying, "elite force of shopping bag procurers" because...well, it's just too dang hard. Try it. You'll see. BIG mouthfull.

But the rest of it? Yea- that would all come outta me. On a very productive day. Sometimes I write funnier than I speak, and sometimes I speak funnier than I write.

So basically, it's a crap shoot.

Today, all the stars must have been aligned.

Oh- and one more thing.

Kara is waaaaaaaay more funny than me. So make sure you read what Karajeboo has to say. :goodvibes:thumbsup2 On that DISmoms TR....:cloud9:

ps- I'm really glad I made you smile. :goodvibes

LOVE all the food porn. Thanks so much for the TR to date - can't wait to see how it all ends!

PS: I would have taken that peanut butter cupcake all for myself too ... :D

:thumbsup2 Nice old school Warner Bros reference. Love the photos. The boys look like they're having a blast!

You are a hell of a mom because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't haul my cookies over to DHS from Epcot for cupcakes.

Have you started your new tr?
