My dh and I will be cruising using our passports to check in. My two dds ages 4, 7 months will be cruise with just full size birth certificates with raised sails from city hall. Dh and I will also have regular id (license) with us. When we get off the boat for excursions can we just use our license ids and all of our key to the world cards. I have a waterproof box that I could keep them in at least while we go swimming. I assume I could keep the passports/birth certificates on board in safe if I did this but not sure if this is an option.

We used xerox copies of our passports for id when we got off the ship along with our KTTW. The children do not need id to get back on the ship, just KTTW cards.

Kids under 18 only need their KTTW card and adults can use a photo I.D. and their KTTW card.

You will only need your photo ID and KTTW card to reboard the ship.

The photocopy of your passport would be helpful if anything should happen while on-shore and you needed to provide proof of citizenship to the local authorities.
