Here is a very tentative plan for our trip. We will be coming to DW after a 1 week cruise – so driving from Miami to Orlando on Sunday. We won’t know where we’ll be staying until we can book our DVC room at the 7 month mark.
Here is who will be traveling for sure:
Myself, my husband, and four kids:
19 yr old DD
11 yr old DS
11 yr old DD
6 yr old DS
My boys hate the heat. My youngest gets heat rash and sick pretty easy due to heat. He always has and it’s something we have to be careful of – we will definitely be renting a stroller.
My husband must work every day online as well (about 2-4 hours per day). This is non-negotiable.
My girls can go all day and all night, which is why we’re hoping to get a resort somewhere within walking distance to a park or easy access to monorail. Not sure that’s going to happen though.
We have plenty of days in DW, so we are thinking it might be best to break down our MK days into lands and not tackle a lot in one day. The first week (not the day we arrive, obviously), we plan to hit rope drop….this will be a challenge as none of us are get up and go morning people. But, with the heat, we have to be proactive on this issue.
On week two, the end of the week is open, and I’m thinking of switching to evenings just to get a different perspective and see some of the shows and allow there to be a compromise of some lazy mornings.
I plan our days to end with lunch around 1pm. All fastpasses will be late morning or right after lunch, thus hitting rope drop to ride some of these more than once which all kids have agreed is important. This will give us time to go back to resort, kids to relax, husband to work and it will leave the evening open to return to the park, or just stay at the pools.
To make RD easier, I might schedule a character breakfast in one of the parks. My kids don’t care where, my dd isn’t into princesses, so I’m sort of on the fence where to go. I guess we want a cool experience with good food. Any suggestions?
Any other restaurants or rides that we should think about hitting?
Anything look off?
Anything I need to think about that I might be missing?
I’m really trying to balance regimented time to hit all the key points, but enough down time to keep the trip fun for everyone. I know by the end of the second week (our third week of vacation), everyone is going to be wearing out.
