I'd like to ask all you Emo ppls a question...

So. I know a fairly large group of emo kids, and every one of them that I ask, regards Kurt Cobain and Nirvana as "emo". Umm, what's the logic behind this? Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were grunge, not emo. So, why would anybody consider Nirvana emo?

Basically, the overall question is....is Nirvana emo or grunge?

I love rock.

Over half of my wardrobe is black.

I've never been called emo.

"emo" and "shelby" can't be in the same sentence.

i suppose that is just at my school then... but I am not emo and when I TOLD MY FREINDS that I like rock they were like"OMG Have you turned emo or something?" my freinds are jerks at times.....

Rock is a broad spectrum. Rock includes generas such as classic, emo, grunge, light, hard, and so on.

tahts what I am saying... but my school is very attached to labels. People just cant be normal/average they have to be prep, jok, nerd, geek, emo, weirdo, goth, etc....

Every school is attracted to lables.
If they're going to lable people, they need to understand what the lables mean.

The sad fact is that had Nirvana come out in the 2000's instead of when they did, they most likely would have been considered emo. Not that there's anything wrong with emo, but Nirvana just isn't it. Emo wasn't really a label back then, but it is now. Granted, it's the WRONG label for Nirvana, but there it is.
