What are they going to want to see to prove that my big little boy is indeed two and FREE? Should I bring the real birth certificate or a copy? Will I have to prove his age multiple times or just when we check in?

I'm actually nervous that someone will ask him how old he is... although he admits he's two now, he's known to announce that he's turning FOUR on his birthday in June. I'm not sure why he wants to skip three, but he is considering an attempt of that impossible feat.

Anyway, thanks for any info on this topic.

A copy is fine. They don't really make a big issue of it. (or at least they didn't when my children were that age)
They want to "hook" you, not run you off!

Have fun!:cool1:

No. That question has been asked many times on here and everyone in your situation has said they've never had a problem (at least what I've read). If it makes you feel better, you cold bring the BC, but Disney won't ask for it. Now, as far as what he'll be allowed to eat for free is another topic. You'll probably get many different opinions on here.

I have been to WDW a ton of times and they have never asked me what my kids ages were. I have 4 children and all have been to WDW around 2 and 3 and have never been questioned. In fact I am going in July and will once again take no ID for them. They are into you coming back and not questioning the kids ages.

We went a week before DS turned 3. DS never looked two and I was concerned. I carried with us a copy of his birth certificate. No one ever asked for it.

As far as food, 2 and under eat free at buffets and family style meals. At these places they will get their own plate. Anywhere else, you will have to pay for him (TS with menu service and CS).

I have been wondering the same thing! I also have been wondering though what to do with our son who turns three while we are there. His birthday is the next to last day we are there. Do the ages go by how old they are when you check in? Will it really matter for one day at the parks?

You should be fine with no ID. We just returned with our 2 year old and although he isn't abnormally large (he is pretty good size for his age, about 37" and 31lbs) we had no problems. At the buffets and family style meals he can grab a plate and for the counter service meals the portions should be enough to feed him off of another plate (which is allowed). Our Son ate off of our 4 year old Daughter's plates all the time. As far as rides, you should have no issues getting Fast Passes, he will not need one and the CM's should let you right through. They never questioned our son once. Hope this helps.:)

Just me, but I always traveled with photocopies of the kids birth certificates until they were old enough to have school ID. We fly to WDW, and I was worried that something would happen and I couldn't prove they were mine. Now, I can't give them away :lmao: College bills :scared1:

I went when my son was 2. Actually, we went in July and he had turned 2 in June, but he was very big. At 2 he was a little over 40 lbs. I did take his BC with me just in case, but nobody ever asked or questioned anything. Of course this was 8 years ago, so I guess now since he will be 13 when we go I will have to pay for him. Oh well. LOL.

My daughter was a BIG 2 year old and we went about a month before her 3rd bday and no one asked anything.. thankfully because i didnt even think about bringing a bc or anything with her bday on it LOL..

We just went through the same thing. My daughter looks 4, though it was just 2 weeks before she turned 3.

I carried a copy of her birth certificate just so I wouldn't worry. Nobody asked to see it, though one woman working at the gate at Epcot gave me a "look".

We just returned and we were asked 3 times how old GD was. She's even a little thing too sitting in the stroller. We were also asked during meals several times (WCC and Cape May). We didn't bring anything and when we said "not 3 yet", that was the end of it.

You won't be asked at check-in, you may be asked dining- but more too see if she's getting a meal.

YOU WILL NEED ID FOR THE PLANE RIDE!!!! At least if you are flying with her as a free lap child.

Keep her birth certificate locked ina safe place only for emergencies!!!!!

For the airline (SWA at least) , a record of her immunizations will do. Just ask your pediatrician to give you a copy. If not, use a photocopy of BC, or order an extra copy of it. I wouldn't use SS card either. It's never wise to give out that number.

Disney has never asked for proof of age, the airlines always do, so we always carry copies.

Must have been the same woman who gave me a look! :lmao: We were walking into Epcot a few years ago when my boys were still in a double stroller. The youngest was just a few months old and the oldest was almost three, but not yet. She looked at my oldest and then at me and said "Do you have a ticket for him?" and I just said "uh, no, he's only 2" and she gave me a nasty look. So dh pulled out a copy of his BC (which we always carried anyway for the airport) and she was still nasty about it. I know he probably looked 3, because he was a big baby, but unless Disney is going to start forcing people to prove their childs age then these gate CMs should be nicer about it.

SWA asked for birth certs for my kids when they were under 2..we got them seat, and under 2 is 1/2 fare. Each time we travelled the BC's were checked.

I am pretty sure if a child has reached their second birthday, they must have their own seat on a plane anyway.:)

We also travel with the b. cert., b/c hubby and DS look so different and DS calls me by name rather than title. Just figured it's prudent.

The kiddo is already 2, so days of being a lap-child are over. Most airlines don't need kid's b.certs unless they are under 2 and lap-children.

The b. cert. isn't that big a deal to travel with. I'm on my 3rd certified copy of my own...what any of us has is a copy of it anyway, a copy of what the county keeps on file! Very very easy to get more certified b.certs (assuming you were born in the states and nothing disastrous happened to the county of birth's records area). Now of course the worry is that it would be found by a sneak, but the same damage could be done with the info on a certified copy (aka an "original" b. cert) vs a photocopy made at home or, most ridiculously, a paid for NON-certified copy.
