Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mark your child with information in case they get lost?
I could explain to my oldest to find a CM but my two younger ones I am especially worried if for some reason we got separated.
What have other people done?

I pack a roll of masking tape and sharpie permanent marker. I write "If lost please call -------------" with my cell # on it. Of course, I have my cell phone turned on in my fanny pack. I put a piece of tape with this info on my son's back (shirt) every day. Even for the trip!!!!

we made up business cards for them and laminated them they have our cell phone number as well as info about them on one side even the resort we are staying at. On the other side it says in big red letters " help i lost my parents please help me " that way they can carry thm in their packs and have them just incase. and wehn we get to he parks we will introduce them to a CM and show them what they wear etc.

I have access to hospital ID bracelets- I write details, and strap this around their ankles. I'm paranoid about strangers having access to their names (if I put the bracelet on their wrists) and trying to be friendly w/ the kids. My husband and I are not afraid of splitting up in order to keep the 2 kids entertained at different places- we have walkie talkies and keep in touch. I also have my daughter trained to not tell anyone her name, and I also tell her who she can trust (police, firemen, etc). It's a scary world out there and I'm totally paranoid. If I could surgically implant a GPS device under their skin, I would.

Anyone know where these can be purchased in Canada?
I've already tried asking at the Canadian Visitors forum.

Another idea: Go to a location that has the machines that make pet tags. Enter the information that you want and print out onto a tag. Lace the tag into your child's shoe lace and teach them if they get lost to show a CM ( point them out every day) their shoe!!

If you are staying onsite, kids' resort ID's can be scanned by CM's to get the guest info. If you give the resort your cell number, they can get it off the resort ID. DS loves carrying his own room key; he's immensely proud of it (no charge privileges, of course.) We have him wear it around his neck on a breakaway lanyard under his shirt, so it won't snag on anything.

Thanks NotUrsula, that is the best idea I have heard of yet. They lose bracelets, change shoes more times in a day than I change my mind, and love to pull tape off of each other to hear their scream, I was beginning to think I would have to write our cell phone on their back with permanet (sp) markers
Great idea.

Thanks everyone for your great ideas! I feel much better now. I think the shoe id sounds the best for my family but I like them all! 39 more days to go......

Gee I got all excited about the shoe tag idea, thought it was so clever... then realized .... my kids don't have laced shoes, just velcro!
lol
:o

Daar NotUrsula:

Here you are again being helpful.

I am a little slow this evening so I am not too sure I got the proper way to work this kids' resort ID.

Would you mind explaining it a little more slowly? Also, do you know if the Dolphin would offer this feature?

We made little business cards on our computer that had a photo of our kids and said something like "Hi! I'm..., My parents are ..., we are staying at ... resort. Mommy's cell phone is ..." We laminated them, and they carried them in their pockets. We also carried recent photos of our kids with us to show if we got separated. I heard an even better idea recently -- someone took polaroids every AM of their kids in the outfit they were wearing that day. That way, they had a detailed description, down to the clothes they were wearing, if they ever got separated from their kids.

OK, details re: resort ID's:

The resort ID (your hotel key card) has a magnetic strip on the back of it. That strip is coded with your guest info; name, address, phone #, room #, etc., and also with charge authorization if you have approved that. For the Disney-owned hotels, any cash register on property can scan that strip and get identification information off of it (mostly so that if there is a question about who you are, they can verify it.) The name of the guest who made the reservation for the party is also printed on the front of the card, along with the dates of stay. If you buy your passes at the hotel or have UPH's with a package, this card is also your park pass. If you don't want to have little children carrying their own park passes, I suspect that the resort will be willing to create an extra key-only card for your child to carry. Be sure to give them your cell phone instead of your home phone to put in the guest record. However, even if you don't carry a cell phone, once you report the child missing and give your name for the alert, any CM that has him can match him up with the name on the ID card.

Swan and Dolphin give out similar cards with name/date printed on it, but the CM's cannot just scan them to get the ID info., and calling the hotel desks to get it might not be easy, due to privacy concerns. I'm looking at one of their ID's right now from my last trip, and it does have a lot of white space on the back of it; we used a Sharpie marker to write the cell phone number on it.
(A Sharpie is a wonderful thing to have; I always carry one.)

We prefer to carry our park passes & resort ID's on lanyards in zipper pockets, so that they are handy for the fastpass machines, and so that I can see at a glance that I haven't left the pass in the machine, or that no one has forgotten theirs in the room. I get the little ID holders from Wal_Mart for $.97 each, and put each one on a really bright-colored shoelace with a little spring toggle clipping the ends. (They come w/ a black breakaway cord w/ velcro, but I prefer to switch to give each person a color.) If you pull hard on the cord, the toggle will come off, but it holds fine for normal wear and tear; this is a safety precaution on the chance DS tries to hang himself with it in a playground (not likely as I have him put it under his shirt before active play, but still it's a good idea to have the cord be a breakaway.) The clear pouch has two pockets, an inner zip pocket and an outer one; the inner one holds the ID (and for grownups, the park pass), the outer one holds any pending FP, which is quite handy, IMO.

In our room, we keep these lanyards on the robe hook on the back of the door, where we can keep track of them and distribute them every morning before going out. I've often considered making up a few dozen extras to sell at the bus stop; we get asked all the time where we bought them! (I wouldn't REALLY do that, of course, WDW frowns on guests soliciting.) ;)

Jordan's MOM, I just got back and that is exactly what I did for my 2 1/2 yr old dd! I got a red heart tag and tied it to her shoelace. I was a little unsure of what to put on it but we ended up putting her name and "please call Dad" with his cell #.

We got some comments on the tag and we were very lucky to not have had to test it out. It also had a nice jungle that helped us hear if she was moving around. LOL

Every trip I have bought "hello, my name is" tags from office max or Wal mart. Before we go, I write (in ball point ink--marker will bleed if it gets wet) my child's name, our name, and the hotel we are staying at. I stick these on the inside of each child's shirt before it goes in the suitcase. My kids know if they get lost to find someone with a disney name tag and tell them to "look at my sticker"!
I have never had to use this system--thank the good Lord!
