ID for a child?

We are heading to WDW with our almost 2 son. I am looking for suggestions on how to have some form of ID on him. Granted I don't plan on losing him but if something were to happen...
Has anyone seen ID braclets for this purpose? I have heard of putting it on their clothing.

You should never put their name/info where a stranger could see it and take advantage. Tags visible on clothing are just not a good idea.

That said, we use military style dog tags from www.gotags.com with child's name, parents names, cell phone and home phone. On the back, I make a sticky label with our resort and resort phone # (NOT room #). That way, I can peel it off and use the tags for other trips/purposes.

I grew up in the military and we had to wear dogtags as kids, so it's no big deal. We keep them tucked inside DDs shirts and have instructed them that if Mom or Dad gets lost, to show a CM. It's also a good idea to take a photo of them every morning before you leave (clothing ID).

Also wanted to add that you can loop these through a belt loop, too, if you didn't want to wear it as a necklace...just get a shorter chain

We put tiny plastic key chains on their shoe laces. They have a spot to write your cell phone number and usually have 3 in a pack for a couple bucks. Hope that helps.

Speaking of dog tags....this is going to sound really funny, but our boys loved it. My 2 & 4 year old pretend to be puppies all the time so I went to Walmart and had 2 of those metal tags for dog collars made that are bone shaped. I put: IF LOST CALL: and our cell phone numbers which we carried w/us our whole trip. I then put the tags on some of those nylon dog collars that expand and they wore them around their waists were people couldn't see them. I told them about 150x that if they got lost they should show their dog "collars" to someone with a name tag so that they could call Mommy and Daddy. They loved it! Every morning they would say "Mom don't forget my dog collar belt." It worked great and put my mind at ease. Luckily they didn't have to use them, but I was glad we had them.

I guess this is the simple version...

I took my daughters shoes (which are cowgirl boots) and write her whole name and my cell number in the boots. Since she had a bit of a lisp and didnt know her phone number, I told her that if she gets lost, to go to a CM (told her they have a uniform and name tag), and hand then her boot.

I'm also a saftey nut and have noticed that if a kid gets lost they tend to move. Of course we tell them not to move - but they are short and are trying to see us. So I also told her to do something that I would normally have freaked out on her for: Stand on the top of a table or bench and SCREAM "MOMMY." I have noticed that whenever anyone sees a kid walking on a table top or bench, they always say "where is his mother!" And that is the point - the CMs will see your shild if you don't. And they have a good lost child system, once the CM has your kid. The main thing is that your child does NOT leave the park.

Anyway, low tech boots is what we did and she practiced pulling off her boot and handing it to an adult...most adults think it is weird enough to stop and look and listem long enough to notice a kid is lost...which is what you need if your kid is lost - people noticing them.

Thanks for that link. I asked the same question earlier this week and got some great suggestions (like using the dog tag on the shoe). But I really like the wrist band on the site you linke here with the information hidden inside the band....just ordered one for each of my DDs for upcoming trip!

I printed out names, cell phone and the resort name where we stayed and put a mickey/minnie sticker on them and then laminated them and put a pin through it. It worked great and the kids loved them.

I realize some people don't like names on clothing - but it wasn't big enough to see it from far away and anyone that close to us for more than a few minutes will likely hear me say 'Bryan, Molly get back in the stroller' or something similar, so it's not too difficult to find out their names. I was way more concerned (especially with my almost 2 year old who can't say her name very well) that a CM finding them would know who they are and who we were.

This worked great for us!

Thank you everyone who took the time to respond to me.
I decided to print something out on our computer.
Top side is a picture of a row of Mickeys pondering and underneath is says
"If I'm alone, I am lost. See reverse side for personal info."
Then on the flip side the info I felt was important.
For our stay at WDW it will say our resort. Then I created one for our cruise with our cabin number.
I am planning on getting them laminated and I will be clipping it to his shirt.

Thanks for this link! My DDs love their other bracelets, so I ordered them each one with just DH and my cell phone numbers for them to wear all the time. We homeschool and they have several lessons where I just drop them off and I'm always worried that the teacher/leader will need to call me and won't be able to find my number (DDs are always losing my business cards).

Ours is even simplier - a Sharpie marker and a cell phone number on their hands. When they were younger, we did tags, but we lost the tags at the resort one day and used the Sharpie - haven't gone back.

(We never went when they were too small to point to the number and say "Daddy's phone")
