ID check when entering park?

I'm taking my nephew down to visit my parents next week who live about an hour from Disney and we where going to spend two days in the parks, they went and got Florida resident tickets at AAA because they are Florida residents but I'm not one. Now do they check ID's when going into the park and if so will I get busted for not having Florida ID and have to go back and pay the extra $5 bucks or whatever or do they even care since it's not an annual pass.

I think that you should get regular tickets if you are not a Florida Resident. Your relatives who live in Florida can use them, but not you.

Considering how busy Disney World is - is there a reason why Florida residents get a discount? Is there some sort of deal with the government - or does Disney do it for good neighbourly relations?

If they bought an actual ticket for you, not a voucher that has to be turned in at the park, you will probably get away with it. There might be some control, tho, otherwise there would be a "black market" with residents buying them for out-of-staters. If it's a voucher that includes a price discount for FL residents, you will be asked for ID. Maybe there's not actually a price break for a non-annual pass FL ticket, other than the AAA discount that you could get at home.

Maybe because we visit so often they get a whole lot of money out of us. Most people may take a 10 day vacation there. FL residents may go forty or fifty days a year or more depending how close we are. I was there for four days last weekend, I'm going for three days next weekend, I'm going again around Thanksgiving, then again for four days at the beginning of December and for a couple of days for New Years eve. That's all in a three month period. I certainly wouldn't go so often without my FL Residents pass. I've already got reservations for two lengthy stays next year and I know there will be a lot of short trips as well.

1) If they bought them at AAA, they are vouchers, not actual tickets. *
2) You need a Florida ID for each adult in order to redeem them.
3) If you have no FLorida ID, they WILL NOT process the Florida ticket.
4) You will be forced to buy a regular ticket.
5) Worse, is that the ticket window cannot give credit for the voucher price.
6) So, you paid for a discount ticket AND a regular full-price ticket.

* Florida resident tickets are ONLY sold or redeemed by WDW locations. Everything else is just a "green" colored voucher, which must be redeemed at WDW (park, resort, or downtown disney).

I thought the Florida Resident tickets also have blackout dates, so you might want to check that the tickets for your parents will work when they need them...

I assumed that you got FL residents pass because of having to put up with all of us tourists LOL :rotfl:

They where not trying to scam anyone they where just at AAA and bought the tickets to save time when we got to the park. They had no clue about the whole resident thing and I have a feeling whoever they delt with at AAA didnt give them the right info.

If it is a florida resident discounted ticket, and is for you (a non fla. resident) then I'd suggest taking the ticket back to the AAA where it was purchased and pay the extra $5 to get it upgraded to a non-resident ticket as they more than likely will ID you, as they did with us (we are fla residents though, and expected it with ID in hand before asked to avoid a hold-up for others)

I totally understand how that could happen as it almost happend to us as well. My SIL who lives in FL went to AAA to get her families tickets and while she was there the AAA agent tried to talk her into purchasing our tickets with the discount as well, trying to be helpful. Luckily they called me to see what I needed prior to spending extra $$. I had to explain to the AAA agency why I couldn't do that, she was skeptical but at least my sil didn't buy my tickets.

When we all got to WDW for our trip she was asked for ID when exchanging the voucher for the passes and then occasionally during entrances. It seemed random as to when the check fl ID poped up on the turnstyle.

So - I agee with the PP who suggested taking the tickets and the receipts back to AAA and get out of state MYW tickets for anyone who isn't a resident.
