Fingers crossed everyone travelling out to Florida doesn't get disrupted, and no repeat of 2012.
So glad I got the Ash Cloud cover :-)

We are headed out in two weeks!!

It's a bit worrying - I'm not convinced that our insurance covers volcanic eruptions...!

That was actually 2010! I remember at the time, another eruption was going to happen straight away, it would be catastrophic, etc., etc., etc. It didn't happen, so I guess we are well overdue for it!

Virgin rerouted a flight today and there have been cancellations of flights out of and into Iceland already. Hopefully this will all come to nothing.

We have just over 5 weeks for it to settle down...we can't be that unlucky..we had to move our 2010 holiday to florida. It was a very stressful time! Could nt believe it when I heard it was kicking off again!

can we all please spend the next three days hoping this doesn't affect my flight on tuesday! I'm so nervous; keeping everything crossed!

just checked my cover and I didn't take out the ash cloud cover:confused3

I wouldn't mind it happening (I know this is selfish!!!) while I was out there. If I have to get trapped I rather be the other side of the pond in WDW:)

Fingers crossed for everyone...hopefully it ll all die down. Also media love to speculate and hype things up.
Last time we were really lucky that Jetsave moved our booking like for like for a month later and work were really accommodating with moving our annual leave. I work at an airport so they understood what a pickle I was in!!!

I feel for you all, I really do. We were heading out last time and the week before we were due to fly in May 2010, it all was going crazy! It's horrible knowing you've saved and looked forward to a trip to be thrown off by nature!

Fingers crossed it snoozes again for a while...and by a while, I mean until after my trip next year too...it'll tip me over the edge if it does it to me again next May!!

I've been checking the flightradar app and last night there wasn't a single plane over Iceland. VA are now routing away from the area, which is probably a good thing.

Fingers crossed for anyone travelling soon :)

When we rescheduled for mid May 2010 we had a text from virgin as we arrived at LGW saying we had a three hour delay due to 'adverse weather conditions'. My heart sank....sadly being in aviation I know only too well how easily airlines can cancel flights.
So eventually our gate number came up and we were pre boarded into the gate and waited and waited and waited!!!! Crew had to wait for new flight plans that would take us around the ash cloud. So after eventually leaving about 5 hours late we had about an hour added to our flight time!! Arrived at hotel gone midnight absolutely shattered but more importantly we made it to orlando!!! One bonus of arriving at MCO so late was no queues at immigration or car hire desk!!!

Mine too! Fingers crossed :thumbsup2 (and toes and eyes and anything else available!!) xxx

I hope everything ok am flying 2 weeks tomorrow we had this holiday planned for last 18 months first ever time we so excited hope everyone gets to Orlando ok,

Finger toes and anything else that can be crossed for all of us traveling soon.

I was super excited but I won't relax now until I am on my flight.

Very few travel insurance companies cover the ash cloud :(

I am not so worried when I am out there as I can always book more accommodation when there but If we can't get out in the first place I don't think Disney will refund me :(

Flight rules have changed since 2010. Then there was a "no ash" policy which is why so many flights were cancelled. Now they have a limit of ash density of 4mg per cubic feet of air space that they can't fly through. Not sure what it means in layman's terms but it is good news.

There was another ash cloud problem in 2011 that only caused 900 flights to be cancelled under these new restrictions unlike 2010 when it was something like 100,000 flights.

Personally I didn't mind as I got to spend an extra week in Dubai and miss the first week of summer term at uni!

Looks like the risk had been changed from red to orange now, lets hope it stays that way :)

wouldn't it be terrible if you got stuck at WDW for another week or so due to the ash!
