Ice Wine in Canadian Pavilion

Hey guys! I know this might be an odd question to ask here, but I'm hoping you can help.

Last time I was in the Canadian pavilion, I tried the Ice Wine and it was, in a word.....wicked good. I have talked my hubby into buying me a BOTTLE of it next trip .

Now for the question, how much is that going to set me back? I'm thinking at least 100.00 considering a glass was 20.00.

Ice wine sells in our local liquor store ranging from about $50 or $60 to quite a bit over $100 - and the bottles are small, if I recall correctly.

You might want to just buy some at home vs. WDW - certainly Disney will price it much higher!

Ohhhhhh, so they may sell it in the liquor store..... I should have thought of that, I will check tomorrow, thank you.

Or go online for it. Inskillen is the winery name. Wine .com has it. Yummy!!

When were you last there? I ask becuase if it was more then a year and a half - 2 years ago, and you had Inniskillin they have changed hands and I have heard not to the same quality. I personally am not a big fan of ice wine. I much prefer a fine Tokaj or a late harvest Viognier.

Also, with Inniskillin Vidal (most common), there are three lablels they range from about $60 to well over $120 for a half bottle in most wine shops.

Sorry to go OT, but how do these compare to Inniskillin Ice Wine? We love IW. I hadn't heard it had changed. That's a bummer! No wonder it was cheaper, when I looked it up on our local wine shops website. They have Inniskilling 2005 Riesling, 2005 White Vidal, & 2005 Gold Vidal for $29.99. They're all 187 ml, of course.

Yes, you can get it there, and its about $55 per bottle. Canada has two brands, and Iniskillin is one of them. Germany also has it and sells it by the bottle, and its spelled Eiswein. Don't know much it is there, though.

FWIW, if you have the DDE, yes, you get the 20% discount on bottle purchases.

However, the Wine Depot here in town sells a very good vintage for about $16 per bottle.

I live very close to Inniskillin and there has been no disparity in quality or change in ownership that I am aware of.
A close relative of mine introduced Inniskillin icewine in India and brokered the project that brought it into their finest hotels .. including the Taj .. so it is still selling well and is touted as the finest icewine worldwide.
I'd send you a bottle if I could
Defenitly try your liquor store before paying theme park prices for it

I was there about a month ago. I can't remember which ice wine I had, but it was the most expensive of the bunch (I think it probably was Inniskillin). I am intrigued with this Tokaj and Viognier, off to google!

Here in Tampa, the Wine Depot is near the intersection of Dale Mabry and 275, just south of the stadium. Its in the old Rooms to Go Kids building. The name of it is Selaks Premium Selection and its from the East Coast of New Zealand, of all places! (I keep thinking about that winter scene in LOTR, lol)

We bought a bottle the last time we were there, and I think we're going to go ahead and get a case this time!

Ice Wine lover here!! And dh's coworker loves the Tokaj - he gave us the end of his bottle - YUM! Its close to $50 a bottle in our Wine store -

Inniskin has 3 vintages - cheapest was around $30 - ot a $100 vintage!

I shop at Aldi - THEY HAD AN ICE WINE!! $6.99 for a bottle!! You bet I buy it - in no way is it the quality of the Inniskein or German Eiswein (it is a German Ice wine however! But for $7 I dont feel guilty drinking it!! )

I am thinking of making an Ice Wine Martini with it (went to a Bar and maybe Le cellier has an Ice wine too!!)

I have to ask...what exactly is ice wine? I have heard of it on the boards & seen a pic but that's all I know of it!

Ice Wine is made from the grapes that stay on the vine past a frost - think how grapes turn into raisins - they concentrate the flavor - and are sweeter -

same with Ice Wine, because of the process, there is less juice produced - so it is put in smaller wine bottles, and cost more -

the flavor is sweet, without being 'syrup-y"

it truly is a special dessert wine!

If anyone is in the NYC area and visits the Long Island Vineyards, Pindar Vinyards makes and excellent ice wine for $25-$30 a 1/2 bottle, which isn't a bad price.

I wondered how long that Rooms to Go Kids would last. I didn't realize there was a Wine Depot in the city now. We'll have to check it out & look for the wine you recommended. BTW, have you ever been to B-21 in Tarpon Springs? We have only ordered from them, but would like to attend some of the special, wine & dine events. They deliver free to Pasco, Pinellas, & Hillsborough with a $150 purchase, which is easily acheived when ordering Ice Wine.

I agree with a previous poster, don't buy it as Disney. You might have to go to a wine store instead of a liquor shop though. You can always bring the bottle to Disney if you want it there. I did that for DH and I on our last trip.

A couple of months ago I found Inniskillin Sparkling Icewine. I'm curious about it. Has anybody tried this?

Constellation bought Vincor (Inniskillin parent compnay) in June of 2006 for 1.3 Billion.

Based upon the tastings I have done I have noticed subtle changes in the past few years.
