Ice Water!

hum... I didn't know that I could substitute the beverage for a side. My family don't drink soda so I usually get juice for kids and Perrier for DH and I . Frankly I would get embarrassed if I substitute beverage for a side and then asked for a cup of water... I am from NJ. if I do that in NJ I would get a nasty look from the restaurant. :headache:

Really? You're serious? A nasty look for ordering water? Have never had that happen anywhere else we've traveled. I've passed through NJ, but think I'll not be eating there, as I 'always' prefer water with my meals - not the expensive bottled variety either! :confused3

Some people have claimed a funny taste. If you go to the CS location and request an ice water, it is NOT tap water. It comes from the soda fountain so it is filtered. I always get it or order water in the restaurants which is fine. From the tap, yes living in FL, I will tell you not to drink tap water here but in WDW you are 99 times out of 100 not getting tap water when you order it at any restaurant.

Some of us don't like the taste of the water from the CS locations even though it's filtered. It still tastes off/bad to me -- though I completely understand that it is a personal preference and many people are ok with it -- including members of my family. I tried it from several different CS places on our trip this summer since my daughters would stop and get it a few times a day (they don't mind the taste and the love the idea of getting something for free even if it's just ice water). None of it tasted good to me. I get water at every restaurant we go to at home and none of it ever tastes good to me unless they bring me a cup of ice and a bottle of spring water. If it's not coming out of the well at my home or a bottle labeled "spring water", I'm probably not going to be fond of it. And I drink a ton of water.

Not doubting that its filtered at all or that is coming for the soda fountain etc., It still tastes nasty to me. Glad it works out for so many folks. Unfortunately Im not one of them.

Honestly I don't care who is getting free water or purchasing bottles of water.

I am in the purchasing group.

I agree. Everyone says the ice water is filtered etc but I tried the free water a few times at a few different places and it always has a funny taste to me. Rather pay the money than deal with the funny taste.
I'm a foods cast member and the funny taste is due to the fact that the water either comes out of the lemonade spout or the iced tea spout where I work lol
I always let it run a bit before pouring the water

We got free water numerous times during our August trip without ever waiting more than a minute. We carry some single serving drink mix which takes care of any taste issues.

The water upsets my stomach. I cannot even drink soda made with. We buy a few cases of water on the way to our hotel. I we use them for the gym, by the pool, and take two with us to the park. In the parks, once those are gone we buy bottled water. Worth every cent.

I *wish* the water from the CS locations had a slight taste of lemonade or ice tea to it. I could deal with that (though I still prefer *no* flavor). I don't even know how to describe how the water tastes to me. It's not the sulfur taste that some people experience. It's more like a "stale chemical" taste. Definitely not tea or lemonade.. :D
