Ice Station Cool rehab

Yes it is. Maybe there doing more than just rehabbing it. Maybe it's being changed. :confused3

Word is that the rehab is six months because the attraction WILL be totally re-themed. The new name is likely to be "Club Cool", and the theming will fit that name (ie some kind of nightclub theming). The entrance may be moved, so that access is from inside Innoventions, and the outside of Club Cool will be more in keeping with the image of Innoventions as a whole. It's perfectly feasible that drinks offered at the "new attraction" will no longer be free.
I have personally never visited Ice Station Cool, but was looking forward to going there on my next trip. This new development seems set to upset the many Ice Station enthusiasts out there!

When I told DH he was so upset and is hoping they will be done before our trip in December...If anyone hears of a soft opening I'd love to know!!!

What's scary is DH actually LIKES the Beverly, he said it tastes like Moxie... :crazy2:

It definitely needs it. And they need to get some different drinks there, the drinks from other countries are absolutely nasty.

The whole point is that it's interesting to see what different tastes people in other countries have. I agree that Beverly is pretty awful, but I think that's the point. I like most of the other flavors. The watermelon(China I think) is the best. My DD4 had about 4 cups of it when we were there in May.

I hope this is just a rumor...a drastic change like having to pay for the drinks would be terrible! We are already getting over charged for all the other drinks we purchase in the parks and resorts! C'mon, there should be no reason why they can't afford to spare some.

Horrible timing! The should have waited until Fall to close it,when it won't be quite so hot.

I agree! Why rehab now, when people need it the most? :confused3

Beverly Lovers Unite!

I love the stuff, and fill my water bottle up with it every visit so I can sip it all day long!!

As far as I'm concerned, it's the other sodas that are disgusting - too sicky sweet for me.

Hope the ice station reopens before our next visit in January - and hope they still have Beverly

Great timing. It seems to me they should have waited to rehab after the summer weather has passed. I agree, it could use it.

I agree with this... great timing (sarcasm). I think they should have waited to do this during the winter months too- because of weather (we need to cool off in the summer months! LOL) and also less people going in the winter months. (ie: not peak time)

The 2 biggest disappointments in EPCOT for us this past May were Ice Station Cool and the fact that Wonders of Life was closed. Ice Station Cool was a terrible mess with soda all over the floor (a safety concern as kids were running all over the place) and most of the machines out of order. There were only two machines working and both were dispensing only the watermelon drink and Beverly. It was also extremely humid and no relief from the heat whatsoever. It is in definite need of help!

We were at Epcot this past week and the Ice Station Cool entrance has been partially destroyed. So who knows what they're up to!

DS (9) will be angry if it is closed on our trip in November. I can't say I will really miss the earwax in a cup...blech! :crazy2:

this was one place that we enjoyed visiting for that quick respite from the summer heat. this will be the first time that we will not be able to taste beverly!! actually because Ice Station Cool is gong to be down when we arrive tomorrwow its going to cost me 20 dollars!! my DS#2 told me that if i drank a full cup of beverly he would give me 20 dollars. oh well maybe by next trip i can get the offer up to 40 dollars :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

But if it tastes like anise/black licorice, etc. as I've heard from others, I'm bound to love it. I adore black jelly beans, black licorice and Sambuca (which tastes like anise/licorice). My friends always gave me their black jelly beans after Easter because they hated they way they tasted.

Tell me, for those of you who have had both, does Beverly taste anything like the middle of Good n' Plenty candy?

I love all those things that you've listed and I don't think Beverly tastes *anything* like them! It is nasty, IMO!

Not sure if anyone else has posted....

Refreshing the Epcot experience
Later this month, Epcot is scheduled to unveil Club Cool, an enhanced Coca-Cola® experience replacing the former Ice Station Cool exhibit.

While the revamped experience will offer a new theme, you'll still be able to sample Coca-Cola flavors from around the world. (So tricking Uncle Earl into trying that curious Beverly soda will continue to be a good time for all.)

Be sure to check out the new area the next time you visit Epcot.

Wow, that would be great if it opens earlier than expected. We sure did miss it in June.

We're really gonna miss walking through the icy-cold entrance with the snow all around us - it was great on a hot day!

and the dreaded Beverly doesn't taste anything like anise or licorice (i LUV both of those flavors)... An earlier poster nailed it: "earwax in a cup".
We're taking a never-been newbie on our trip in January and I can't wait to see her face when she takes a swig of that crap... It's truly a magical Disney moment :rotfl2:

It is open. I personally don't like any of the sodas. DD & DH love to go tasting.
