They no longer have the ice cream sandwiches at the ice cream place on Main Street where you can choose your flavor. My son really wanted one with mint chocolate chip ice cream and they said he could go next door to the Bakery and get one but only with vanilla ice cream. We used to really love getting mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwiched between two fresh cookies. You can get one with vanilla anywhere.

YOU ARE KIDDING ME! AARGH! MY DH, DS (2) AND I LOVED THESE! WHAT A SHAME... :furious: (AND as a pregnant woman--I was CRAVING this...)

The ice cream parlor used to let you pick the flavor of ice cream but you could only get chocolate chip cookies. The bakery would let you pick any kind of cookie but you could only get vanilla ice cream.

Does anyone now if the change is permanent or just for that day?

I am not surprised by the change, if it is indeed a permanent one. In December, I requested a mint chocolate chip sandwich and the one I got was vanilla ... I mentioned it and it turned out to be a miscommunication between the cashier and the scoopers. They made a new one but I was given the evil eye, they were clearly VERY unhappy about the whole process with the women whispering among themselves and rolling their eyes ... I got the feeling they would prefer fewer choices!

YOU WHAT??? you used to be able to get them with mint choco chip!!! omg i need knew thats not fair, that my fave flavour and wedged within two freshly baked cookies omg why did no one ever tell me you could get them with other flavours than vanilla. omg im so sad right now. but there still delcoius

yum! I'll have to check into this...different cookies...different icecream...it doesnt matter...either way I'm sure its still yummy!

Just make your own designer treat! Whats wrong with getting a couple of cookies per person from the bake shop, then a scoop per person from the ice cream shop, and making your own sammie?

You read my mind! :thumbsup2

We had treats from the ice cream parlor last week and they did not have the cookie sandwiches on there at all. Maybe it is becasue they are soooooo slow in getting customers throrough the line--it took 20 minutes from order to reciept of three coke floats and there was no one else in the parlor ahead of us. Maybe they will bring tham back when crowds are not as high?

Sure nothing wrong with waiting in one long line just to go wait in another. Especially with kids. Sounds like a great way to spend your time at WDW.

I'm so bummed :guilty:

I loved those... What does it matter whether they are putting icecream between two cookies or in a cone?

Yep...that's what I was thinking too. Plus, I'm sure that buying everything separately will make it cost twice as much.

1. its probably more cost effective to have different cookies then it is to have a gazillion containers of ice cream...but if they already have the ice cream and the cookies are right next door then why arent we just beating the system...

2. Beat the system!!! Like someone said above...

3. we could start a letter writing campaign and write to disney higher ups telling them how unhappy we are about this change and see if we bombard them with letters maybe they will change their minds

just my thoughts...

Again, I don't see how waiting in two long lines (and we waited for 20 minutes at the ice cream place before finding out they don't do that anymore) is "beating the system."

As someone else pointed out, how is stuffing a scoop of ice cream between two cookies that much more labor intensive then balancing the scoop on a pointed cone? They still have all the flavors at the ice cream place. They'll put any flavor on a cone or in a cup with sprinkles, sauce, whipped cream etc, but putting it between a couple of cookies was too costly?

FTR, the point of my post was to give people a heads up because many of us here have looked forward to this snack and I don't want others to waste their time in line to find out they don't have it anymore. Time is money at WDW.

LIke I said, if waiting around in two long lines just to have an ice cream sandwiich is your idea of good time, then go for it. :thumbsup2

Sorry, but after having someone  because I dared to complain about something at WDW...

We were there this last weekend for my DS b-day and last weekend before he had his tonsils pulled yesterday. All he wanted for his "last meal" was that mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and he was too hot and dissapointed to wait in another line for it. We got him Ben and Jerry's at the Gaylord Palms where we were staying. Anyway, he asked me to post this for him as a head's up to others.
