i've heard rumors that the ice cream not just have officially been discontinued at the Golden horseshoe as of last week. I was looking forward to trying them on my trip in August. I noticed that Clarabelle has a waffle bowl. I'm wondering if I go to Clarabel and ask if I can have ice cream nachos if they can just break up the waffle bowl.

I'm curious, what's the difference if the bowl is intact or broken? If you want to eat the sundae like nachos, ask for an extra empty bowl and break the waffle bowl as you eat it instead of a spoon.

I have always been perplexed by the ice cream nachos thing. Seriously...just crush up a cone and eat it with your sundae...

It's quite simple really, It's just like the broken Oreo's thing; The broken ones don't count.

It's about presentation as well as texture.

Crushing up a cone yourself can easily result in some very tiny pieces. While it would give the crunch texture, it lacks the visual aesthetic.

Um, you realize these "chips" are just waffle bowls that a CM broke into pieces, right? Because that is what they are. You can easily break up a waffle bowl yourself without crushing it into oblivion.

I imagine these nachos started when a clever CM figured out a way to use the inevitable broken waffle bowls rather than throwing them away.

There's no need to talk down to me. It may not have been your intention, but you came off quite rude. It was the "um" that gave it a condescending tone.

I was merely giving a reason why ice cream nachos are a thing beyond just "crushing up your own cone and eating it with your sundae". You may not like them, but others do. Note I do not order them myself as I cannot have ice cream. I'm not a fan of ice cream either. Too many years of it making me horrifically ill before we realized I cannot eat dairy. But I still understand the presentation factor being appealing and I am respectful of others choosing to buy it.

I hadn't heard that they removed them off the secret menu. Makes me wonder if that is just temporary. At any rate, while I have no experience with it, I'd ask the CM to break up the bowl. If they say they can't, then I'd just do it myself.

I liked the ice cream nachos and am sad they're gone. It was a good treat to share. I think all of us who have tried them realize that it's just broken up bits of of waffle cone with fudge and ice cream on top.
