I recently had an ICD implanted. We are headed to Disney in a few weeks. I called to see how the magic bands might affect my ICD. The person at Disney told me to check with my device manufacturer. When I did, they told me that the magic bands themselves aren't the problem, it would be the machine I would be swiping it at which would be the concern. I was told that I should just keep my device area (upper left chest) at least 6 inches away from the scanner machines and it will be fine.

Does this sound right that the bands themselves don't transmit the Radio frequency? I am just doublechecking as I am very anxious about this ICD in general.

I am also wondering if anyone can envision a place I would need to swipe it that would be hard for me to maintain that distance?

Thanks for any information you can share as this is all new and a little scary.

They have batteries in the band to transmit to readers. You don't have to wear them you can keep them in a bag away from you an dust take out hold at the gate and go. And at The shops the same thing or someone else in your party could tap it to the device. And fast pass the same each reader will be at a different level of French that they can adjust the ones at the gate are lower to keep from reading other bands the ones In the shop and fast pass might be a little higher so Ou don't have to touch and make it quicker.

The insert in the box says to keep them 9 inches away from the device.

Thank you for the information, Disney David.

Your welcome due to the battery they only around two years the RFID in the room key and tickets don't have battery so they don't transmit like the magic band they have to be very close to the reader to work. Where the magic band can be on your wrist and be read by a reader in the street or close by to let Disney know how many people are in a certain area to see if they need more cms or other things to make things quicker. They no off switch which they should make so you my want to be carefully when at home because they can also work for Disney infinity so they could cause a issue then two. Their really nothing you need to put the band that close to you to use it unless it in a bag that goes over your shoulder and a reader reads it. It dose not read your personnel info It just reader the magic band so let's say a ready pick up a lot of guest entering a quick serive Disney can see that and send more cms to open up and hand out menus or if they see a lot entering a ride they could put more vehicles in the ride.

A couple years ago Disney made a center to try and make things easier for guest by help with long lines and large crowds and now they have the magic bands they can see the data a lot quicker and hopefully can make things quicker and easier.

Thank you for providing the info from the insert. That is helpful. Despite what the device manufacturer said, I'm not going to wear it. I don't want to take any chances.

Thank you also for the additional info, Disney David. I would never have thought about keeping it at a distance here at home. I agree that an off switch or some type of shield which would block it for people like me except when I'm using it would be a good addition.

Thank you both again.
