I am interested in using the iBotta app. I tried it years ago but didn't find it very useful because most of the products were for items I would never purchase. I checked it out again and saw that they now have many "any brand" rebates and include stores like Costco which makes it much more practical for my use.

I also saw that they give team bonuses. Can someone explain teams to me. How do you join a team? Where can I find a team? How do bonuses work?

If you have friends that have Ibotta then they can be on your team. I had to go the Facebook route. There is a page for Ibotta on Facebook and you can either post or wait for someone else to post to add friends. So you add the person as a friend on Facebook and then they become part of your team on Ibotta. You can hide them on Facebook if you don't want to see their statuses and stuff.
You need team members to earn bonuses though.

Usually you link your account to your Facebook, and your team is your Facebook friends. Whatever your friends get in rebates counts towards your team bonus.

The regular monthly bonuses have gotten smaller, but there have been a lot of extra bonuses that last for a shorter time period, but are a larger amount

I've had really good luck with ibotta, and cashed out for a bunch of Starbucks cards for our last trip.

I did great with Ibotta in June-mid November. Since then it's been practically useless.

I joined a fb group to hit my monthly bonuses and most people have been disappointed with the offers and bonuses of late.

Also, I used to be able to cash out at $10. Now it's $20.

Is there a limit to how many people can be on a team?
No. The more you have the easier it is to meet your goals--but you probably only need 10 or so to meet the monthly goals.

ETA: BTW do you use Shopkick? I make about $15 / month on Shopkick without buying anything (although you now get kicks for buying some stuff).

I also tried Shopkick before but my cell is a dead zone inside my Target store and it made it impossible to really earn any money. Maybe I should try that again too.

I've found ibotta monthly bonuses to suck as they don't include the any brand rebates. I haven't made a bonus since they did that but they are puny now anymore anyway. Costco tends to have the least rebates available. I tend to do the best when I need things at kroger.

Wow @havaneselover you get $15 a month with shop kick? That's impressive. I may get $5 a month there but I don't go out of my way at all to check in.

Yes. 78,000 kicks since Easter 2014 ($312). I live in an area where most everything is within 5 miles of my house and I'm always out and about driving the kids to activities. I earned more / month in 2014 than last year but it's still worth it. We just got an Oshkosh/Carter's by our Kroger and I've gotten oodles of kicks (both walk ins and scans) from them but it's a little embarrassing walking in there with two 5' tall kids once a week:)

It is much more stingy than it was in 2014! Right now I have no scans at all and only small amounts of walk in kicks.

I just looked. I did $145 in 9 months in 2014 and $165 last year. So definitely down a little for me but not too much. I think there are less scans (I remember when there would be 800 kicks in scans at Walmart). But I'm sure it is very dependent on where you live.

Yeah, for the holidays it seems like there are a ton of wine and liquor rebates and little else. They also upped the cash out amount from $10 to $20 so less instant gratification. But, I plan to keep plugging away. I don't have a team bc I don't like hooking up my Facebook account to these types of things.

Target used to always have walk in kicks for me and this week it has not. I miss them bc I shop at Target a lot. But I shouldn't complain bc for the longest time my Target kicks didn't even credit, and then suddenly they did.

I turned off the alcohol offers because I don't drink and was sick of scrolling through them.

Have you ever tried Kohl's to get your Carter's scans to work? No walk-ins there, obviously, but I can scan the clothes there in the kids section and get Shopkicks.

OP, I use Ibotta and enjoy it, but have never done the team competitions. I sort of just do it "for fun" and to get a couple dollars back here and there, mainly from the any brand rebates.

Well I got all of my receipts from earlier in the week together and submitted the eligible items. I now have $13 and some plans to get a few eligible items tomorrow when I got shopping. I'm not going to go out of my way to buy things I normally wouldn't but the any brand rebates are really helpful and any little bit helps.

Not yet. The store is really convenient for me--right next to Kroger and on my way to DD's swim club. But I will try next time they have scans.

I have saved money on clothes using Ibotta. I think I've gotten $10 back twice for White House Black Market purchases. It was nice because I stacked it with a coupon both times and the merchandise was already on sale.

I am not on Facebook, and would be interested in joining someone's team if any interest.

I didn't realize you could do that! I get so tired of scrolling through the liquor offers! Thanks for the tip.

Also didn't realized I could get Carter's scans this way. I have a Kohl's store nearby so I'm going to try this. Thanks!
