I wrote to Disney concerning the Tigger/Monaco family incident

My impression from the video:

I don't think Tigger made an intentional punch to Jerry Jr.It looks like that, for whatever reason, Tigger was trying to turn to his right and remove his back from being accessible to Jerry Jr. When he turned, his left arm was raised slightly and when he turned, his hand made contact with the kid's head. It doesn't appear intentional to me at all. With the giant head, I doubt Tigger would have been able to make an intentional hit to Jerry Jr's head..
This is exactly how it looked to me.It looked like Tigger was just twisting around trying to get the kid to let go.

I think the kid was trying to get his hand under the "head" and push it off. In the video you can see the hand behind Tigger's head, then Tigger tries to pull away. The kid holds on and Tigger slaps him.

Even Matt Lauer seems to be on Tigger's side this morning. He said "you know, those people really put up with a lot, sometimes the kids do things and it's hot in those costumes."

I was thinking about how they really can't see that well in those things either. Have you ever seen how they autograph? They have to hold the books so awkwardly to see what they're writing.

I think you are correct. It looks like the kid was trying to pull off "Tiggers" head. He was being a wise ###.

Two more opinions here.. my husband and I watched it last night and we thought the kid was doing something at Tigger's back.. not sure, but it almost looked like Tigger lost his balance a bit..

They showed the clip on the news here last night, and that's what I thought. It looked like Tigger slipped. :confused3

It looks like Tigger was trying to avoid something. Real or perceived? I don't know and I don't think it matters.

My thoughts exactly!

Plus, if Tigger felt like he was losing his balance he might have felt like he was gonna go back over the railing and his arm may have come up and then made contact. Poor Tigger!

:tigger:

I sent an email as well. I get more and more mad each time I view that delinquent...:furious:

Thanks for posting the email link. I almost never write to large companys but I hate it when people sue over trivial things.

After listening to the Dad talk this morning it just seems more scam like. You'd think they'll have to all seek counseling the rest of their lives to cope.

Cha-ching is sounding more like it with them IMO.

This is the first time in my life i ever felt this strongly enough to actually send an email out. I think there are just too many sue happy people in this world today. I was thinking that because of the actions by this family, that Disney might re-think picture taking with the characters, and that would really be awful for everyone.

Saw Dad & Jr on the Early Show today. Someone mentioned the body language of a liar...Dad was blinking furiously. It looked like Jr was being coached to appear to be in pain, because he awkwardly touched his face or neck a couple of times...looked very fake.

Dad said something like "this is a nightmare..." and "it was a blur" and the kid said it was "weird." Give me a break.

They came off with zero credibility IMHO.

Big thumbs down to the Early Show for giving these people air time:sad2:

:tigger: They were saying on the news today that after the so called "Tigger attack" the boy was taken to the Hospital complaining of neck pain....

I mean come on...neck pain...:confused3 ...he was not even hit hard...if you want to even call it being hit...can't tell by video what really happened...

will be interesting to find out the scoup...the father needs some "Anger Management" classes....and he is making Disney a bad place with his attitude for his kids for the rest of there lives...

seems fishey to me:fish: :rolleyes2

I will give the boy/family the benifit of the dought however till the verdict is in...after all may be this Tigger has Rabies...only a sick Tigger would do what they are saying he did...however I believe Tigger will be cleared...

I also wrote to Disney. I feel so sorry for 'Tigger' and hope that he does not lose his job over this. Also, shouldn't someone be concerned that he was being choked and couldn't breathe? Wouldn't that be considered assault?

I have spread the word on a french Disney lovers website, giving the e-mail address.

I just wanted to let you know that I send a letter in support of the Tiggergate.

The kid is a punk, you can see it on his face. I hope his family get nothing.

I hope Tigger sues the family for lost wages.

I too sent an email, thanks to the OP for posting it. I am just so appalled.

Are there times when one should complain? Yes

This however is sooo not that time and the father should be so ashamed of himself, this is what his son has to look up to. How terrible. I truly hope Tigger is not fired.

I hope Tigger is a person who likes to look at these Boards...so he/she can see that we are all rooting for her/he.....

The News casters here are telling the story and showing the video and making very doughful comments and shaking there heads that Tigger is not quilty....

This guy and his family must be on there first trip to disney...because if that was me I would have never reacted that way...unless the Tigger was acting like a jerk afterwards...and we all know...what are the chances of that...

We have NEVER ever ran into a mean person working as a Character...WE all know how well Disney screens there employees...I think DAD is one of those parents that think that there son can do no wrong...will be interesting to see how this unfolds...

I watched the video and the Dad strikes me as a real "piece of work". For whatever reason, Tigger appears to wheel "his" body around while "his" arm was extended. I doubt there's much vision out of those suites except for in front. I doubt the CM had a clear view of Junior's head before "he" rotated. It was an accident at worst.

If in fact Junior was trying to "decapitate" Tigger, this is would explain the suddent reaction on the part of Tigger. CM's know there jobs can be at risk if they are umasked in public. We knew a young woman that was in the CP at WDW and she told of a friend of her's that lost their job at WDW for an "unmasking". The CM was in a character suit at Epcot and managed to trip and fall over the railing into the shallow water at the lake's edge. Water poured into the head of the costume and the CM had the senstation of drowning. They paniced as a result and the CM took off the head in order to get fresh air. For that the CM was terminated for violating the cardinal rule of character work.

Oh, and the ER visit... oh please!!!! That was one of the mildest "punches" I've ever seen.

Just a mention about the characters.. Just before my DGD turned 3 we took her to WDW and MANY times the characters weren't able to "see" her and nearly stepped on her or knocked her over.. Fast forward to
Dec. - now 8 yrs. old - and with some characters, the same thing happened..

Many of them have their field of vision SEVERELY restricted so what's to say Tigger wasn't reaching BEHIND his head to correct whatever the kid did and the kid's face happened to get in the way?

Man - some people will do ANYTHING to make a quick buck..
