To introduce myself, I am a total lurker on this page, embarrassed that I have spent thousands of dollars on scrapbooking supplies, but have never completed a single page because I don't know where to start in my 40,000 pictures, and aren't secure with my small amount of scrapbook skill that I thought would never grow since I never started (or finished) a single layout ever.

Well, my (hopefully) future friends, have great news!! This week, I have finished not one, but two, 2-page 12x12 layouts! All I need to do is journal them, but I have to buy something else because my handwriting is too messy!! And techincally with the simple layout I used, I could leave that space blank without it looking like blank space.

I know this is probably a strange post, but I had to share my joy!! (and my hubby's relief that all of his $$ was not wasted)

Congrats!!! :woohoo:

That is great news!!! May 2009 find that you scrapbook more and more and use all those supplies you have been storing!!!!

Jump into our challenges and feel free to stop by and chat and share your accomplishments any time!!!!!

Congrtaulations- feel free to jump in and ask questions about anything as you work on more pages. Type written journalling can look beautiful when matted.

Great Start! And let me encourage you to go ahead and journal by hand even if your handwriting truly is "too messy". It's YOUR handwriting, after all. Draw you some light pencil guidelines, even write your journaling out in pencil to make sure what you want to say fits before you write over it in pen. when the ink is dry - like tomorrow, you can erase your pencil lines.

Later on, you can always computer journal, if you have a lot to say.

Buying something else, for a single specific purpose, doesn't always solve the challenges that arise, unfortunately. But what you learn by doing it the 'hard way' just might! You CAN do it! Go for it!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! And WELCOME!! Next to WDW and my home, this is my favorite place in the world!! We're glad you found us!

And I have to echo LindaBabe and encourage the journaling in your own handwriting. I was cleaning out recently and found some letters my grandmother had written me while I was in college, just a few months before she passed away. I would rather have those pieces of her handwriting than just about any other material thing from her!

Welcome - using your own handwriting adds the personal touch! If you are not happy later, then you can type it, but while the thoughts are fresh in your mind, just get it on paper.
We're happy that you have completed some pages - it does get easier! 2009 could be the year that you catch up on so many of your pictures- good luck and keep posting.

Congratulations on a strong start!! And I agree with everyone else, even if you don't care for your writing, it really gives your touch and life to the album.

WELCOME!!! glad to have you here with us. Jump on in!

Great job!!! I have always heard to start with the most recent- and go backwards- it's easier. Good luck and have fun scrappin!!!

I am so happy for you! Congratulation!!! Keep up the momentum and soon you will have tons of completed pages. Here's to 2009!

You are not alone! I lurked for a long time too before I jumped in. I "gathered" several hundreds of dollars of scrapbooking supplies for about four years before I ever made one page!:rotfl: I met a friend that was really into scrapbooking and she made me come over to her house one day and complete two pages. Then I took off on my own! I'm not very fast at it, but I really enjoy it! I have so many pictures and didn't know where to begin, so I decided to start on our first WDW vacation.

Once you get into it, you'll not be able to stop!

Congratulations! Keep up the good work and welcome!

Good for you! It is an addictive hobby once you get started. I will echo what a PP said, using your own handwriting adds a personal touch. I have 2 scrapbook pages that my mom did years and years ago. She hand wrote her journaling and now that she is gone, I cherish those pages even more because they have her handwriting on them. You can journal on a separate piece of paper or a card, then if you mess up you can just make another card, then simply add it to your page like any other embellishment. I usually draw in lines so that I stay straight, my handwriting always tends to lean to the right. If you draw in lines with pencil and then use an artist's eraser on the pencil, the lines go away but your inked words stay put. Have Fun!!
