I was kinda just thinking to myself has Disney ever given thought to making the Inn side of BW a DVC property. I mean it is already built, so no construction costs and it in a great location. Plus with BWV long sold out and the apperant sell-out of BCV this as well as the Yacht and Beach club are the only "real estate" left. I don't know just a thought.
No chance. The whole concept of BW when built was to be half hotel rooms (BWI) and half DVC (BWV). It also has convention facilities (and thus an obvious need to have the hotel portion; DVC members aren't going to be clamoring to rent those convention facilities). The hotel rooms do not not fit the "home away from" DVC concept (and they surely would not want to redo the whole Inn to make the fit).
I agree provided that there is more cash flow to be had from timeshare vs room rental. My guess is that Disney has determined that the part hotel / part timeshare formula is most cost effective. I make this assumption based on the fairly recent Wilderness and Beach Club DVC expansions. At any of these resort / DVC sites, room assignment and use could shift from paying customer to DVC members depending on demand (and of course profitability).
