I Wonder if Disney Will Get Mad if We Disassemble the Furniture. Sept/Oct 2024 TR! (Updated 4/18!)

Day 4, Part 3: Mom’s First Taste of Food and Wine!

We last left off riding Guardians!

On the way out we stopped at the photopass photographer out in front.

After the ride, it was still a bit too early for the food booths to open, so we made our way back to Creations to pick up the items we had seen earlier.

Here I got the passholder F&W tee, an Epcot tee, a long sleeve shirt, the F&W oven mitt set, the F&W dishtowels, and the F&W Remy timer (which of course is already broken, but it’s still so cute!).

Around 10:50 we made our way over to the other side of the park to our first food booth, Bramblewood Bites!

Mom really wanted to try the pork after hearing my rave reviews. Also, it’s kind of wild that mom’s first taste of Food and Wine wasn’t until day 4 of the trip!

There was a small line when we arrived, and the booth opened a bit late, around 11:05, but we decided to wait it out since we really wanted the food here.

Here we each got the pork, and I also got the fake old fashioned.

Food in hand we grabbed one of the picnic tables. While mom held down the fort, I ran over to Forrest and Field and picked up the pumpkin ravioli as well and the chocolate peanut butter stout.

The pork was just as good as the other day, this was one of my top items from the fest this year. The fake old fashioned was kinda gross, I thought it would taste like spiced cider since it was basically apple cider and rum, but it didn’t at all. It was just weird.

The pumpkin ravioli was delicious! I would definitely get that one again. Then the stout, my goodness was this good. It was super heavy so I’m glad I got the small size, but it was delicious!

As we were eating, I started to try to get a Minnie Van. We had plans in the early afternoon, so had to head out pretty quickly. After about 20 minutes of trying and not getting one, we decided to just take the monorail back to the Contemporary.

We lucked out and got to the monorail station right as one pulled in, so hopped in! We had the car to ourselves!

Now, I was a bit worried about taking the monorail back, we were in a bit of a time crunch, so if there was any delay we would be cutting it close! Especially since my mom decided she wanted to have time to run up to the room to freshen up first. I warned her we may not have time, but I hoped we would!

So it was a bit stressful when the doors to the monorail closed, but it didn’t move. We sat there for like 5 minutes not moving, and no announcement as to what was going on.

We were getting a bit stressed!

Finally it did move, and we made it to the TTC quickly.

Once there we ran over to the resort monorail and had a bit of a wait for that one. We were anxiously checking the time, but so far we were ok-ish.

The resort monorail finally came, and then we had the slowest trip around the lagoon ever. At every stop we just sat there for like 5 minutes. When we got to the MK I considered hopping off and just walking back, I figured it may be faster than sitting there at the station for so long!

In the end we stayed on until the Contemporary, and made it back with like 5 minutes to spare! So we ran upstairs to drop off our stuff and quickly freshen up before heading back downstairs for our next activity!

Question for everyone, is there a good car service you would recommend from MCO to Disney? In January I'll be coming in a day before my mom, and since she doesn't do Uber or Lyft and we're not staying club, we're looking for a car service to fetch her from the airport and bring her to the hotel. I've seen Tiffany town car mentioned around here a lot, but are there others that you would recommend?

Thanks!

The resort monorail can take forever. They have to sit a certain amount of time in order to keep on schedule. It is one of the reasons that I don't like to go to Epcot when staying at a monorail resort. At least you didn't have a crowded car.

We recently used GearFusion and were very happy with the service and price. They had great communication, were standing right where they said, and took us out a sort of back door of the terminal away from the ride share / bus chaos. Would 100% recommend them!

We use Cast and Crew Transportation. The company was started by former cast members who were displaced during Covid. They provide great service both to and from the airport.

I have used MCO2Disney three times and they are fantastic. They meet you at baggage claim and help with your bags!

When we went a year and a half ago we used Tiffany's. They were great and friendly. We were even able to stop at the grocery store to pick some stuff up. I don't do Uber or Lyft either and I am not sure I would do this one on my own either. I do feel like it is better then Uber or Lyft but you are still in a car by yourself with a stranger. I have a fear of this so I may not be the best person to answer.

Yeah, we were really starting to stress about being late for our next activity it was taking so long! Something to remember when we stay at the GF next year, will be a long ride around to the hotel!

Thanks! Yeah, the one thing I want to make sure is that they'll meet my mom in Terminal C, she isn't the best with directions so I don't want her having to make the trek to terminal A or B.

Day 4, Part 4: We’re Artists Now!

We last left off getting back to the Contemporary for our next big adventure!

After taking a hot second to freshen up, we headed downstairs and out to the pool area. We found the room our class was in and got checked in for the mosaic making class!

We lucked out and were the only people doing it this day! Yay!!!!

They had a few designs to pick from, they had Mickey, Minnie, a Halloween Mickey, the monorail (end cars or middle car), and the 5 legged goat.

I knew going in I wanted to make the goat. My mom was going back and forth between Mickey and the monorail, but in the end picked the monorail.

We settled into our table and the CMs went over the process.

We started with a template where we arranged the tiles, and once we had that done, we would glue the tiles to the actual backing piece. Then once the glue dried, we would grout it. Nice and easy!

They had a bunch of bowls of different colored tiles to pick from. I ended up doing two shades of blue with white, as well as some black for the hoofs and nose, and then yellow for the horns. Mom decided to make a patriotic monorail and went with red white and blue.

While we worked the CMs put on a movie for extra entertainment and picked Hercules! Where we were sitting, our backs were to the tv, but at one point I heard baby Pegasus snorning and said “I hear Pegasus snoring!”, and the CM was shocked that I recognized the sound without seeing the tv from such an old movie! HA! I’m like, this movie came out in my prime Disney years, I can literally recite the whole thing if you asked me too! :rotfl:

It took about an hour for us to arrange the tiles on the templates. I took pictures throughout.

Finally we were ready to glue the tiles to the actual backing piece. This was pretty easy, but I swear the backing piece is slightly different than the template. The CMs said they were exactly the same, but apparently everyone has the issue that the layout that worked on the template, never works out on the actual backing piece!

So it took a little bit to get the tiles arranged since they didn’t fit the same way they did on the template.

Once glued we had to wait for the glue to dry before we could grout. Since it would take a little while, the CMs recommended going next door to pick up a drink, which we gladly did!

I ended up getting the seasonal special, I believe the sea witch, basically had blackberry and tequila and was SO GOOD!

It took the glue about 30 minutes to dry. Once dry, we were finally able to grout! We could pick between white or black, and we both went with white.

The grouting was the messiest, and I would say hardest part. We were given gloves to wear, which is good since it was much easier to manipulate the grout between he tiles with our fingers.

It took a while to get them grouted, and I realized I picked more of an intermediate design rather than a beginners design since you had to smooth the edges around the piece, and there were so many small edges with the goat that you couldn’t easily smooth! I ended up actually taking a knife once back in the room to try to clear off the grout in the tricky spots so the goat kept its shape!

Once grouted the class was basically over, the next steps we had to do on our own later in the day. They put the pieces in cake boxes with plastic windows on top (some woman on the elevator saw them and thought they were cakes and said they looked really yummy! :rotfl2:), and gave us some towels and alcohol wipes for the next steps.

So about 1-2 hours after the initial grouting we had to use the towels provided to wipe off excess grout. Then a few hours later, by the end of the day, we had to use the alcohol wipes to really clean the excess grout off so the tiles weren’t covered.

It was a bit of work to get the tiles looking good, but I think our designs came out really good!

It was such a fun activity, I would definitely do this again! We’re looking into the other signature crafts at the other resorts we’re staying at in the next year now, many resorts have a different signature craft on top of the non-resort specific ones like tie dye. Like Wilderness Lodge has a make your own wood tray or wood key hanger one, the Grand has a paint your own animation cell class (both of these we plan on doing), and the Poly has a make your own lei class. I think most resorts have these signature ones, I think a bunch do the mosaic, but have shapes that are resort specific, and we would 100% recommend trying them out, they are so fun and make a really unique souvenir!

Next up: Narcoossee’s!

Your mosaics are awesome! I am excited to maybe try the one at Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge in January!

Both turned out great. I may just have to make one as I know they offer them at my resort (POFQ). 😊

How fun! I always wonder about these crafts. It might have been a special offering, but I could swear a saw a video of the one at either WL or Fort Wilderness and it actually included some snack food and beverage!

This trip is so fun, I’m super enjoying reading along! I didn’t know about the special craft classes, I totally want to do the WL one on my next stay.

While we worked the CMs put on a movie for extra entertainment and picked Hercules!
I always say this is one of the most underrated Disney Movies. I love the music from it!
It was such a fun activity, I would definitely do this again!
How fun! I always see the ads for these things, but never actually do it. I may have to look into it one of these days on an adult only trip.

Thank you! We're planning on doing the one at Wilderness Lodge too when we're there in June! I really love these special activities, we're going to try to fit them in more often now.
