I wonder if any towncar services will start requesting ID?

In light of the recent Yourride experience where one family "took" someone else's reserved van, I wonder if any will start checking ID's? If I find a company that does, I will probably use them. If not, I'll be worrying that we won't have transportation!

Seems like it wouldn't hurt them to ask for ID. But really, there shouldn't be a problem very often since, according to our driver, the driver generally knows in advance which hotel the party is going to--so the "imposter" family would have to be going to the same hotel the "real" family was going to, or else would have to convince the driver that there was a mix-up about the destination.

Not something I'd worry about too much. Definitely call to confirm your ride the day before; that's always a good idea.

Actually, verifying ID would be a good idea.

I'm using my first Town Car service this October, so I read all the reports, negative and positive and its seems that most of the issues, whether it be someone else taking your car or no shows or poor service happen when the companies overbook and outsource work to independant 'contractors'.

Given that from some of the stories I've heard, these people tend to not always know where you're going, verifying an ID would seem like a reasonable thing for them to do.
