I Won The Year Of A Million Dreams

We have been figuring out our points system just now :)

You'll get the hang of it quick enough. Those of us without hundreds and hundreds of points get pretty good at maximizing the best use of our points. We've averaged a visit every 18 months since we bought in 2001, we also try and avoid the weekends (not always possible), and use that time to check out some of the other resorts. It's also a good time to head over across the highway to the other park, stay in their hotels, and use that head of the line access. :thumbsup2

You're going to love your membership. ::yes::

You lucky dog , you always see these things like publishers clearing house and you think, nobody like us really wins these things, well your like us we live in Ludlow Ma and own at SSR. What a feeling, congratulations! Now I have to hurry up and go find something to enter.

WHat company in Ludlow?

I did'nt mention a company, we live in Ludlow. It seems that there are only a few of us from western MA according to the roll call on another thread. Typically when we travel and we say we're from MA people say oh yes what area of Boston are you from. Personally I can't stand Boston and the people from the eastern part of the state are just different, of course not the DVC ones.

I thought I read somewhere that you were in the construction company. See ya around SSR, hopefully soon!! :)

Hi again...I did this site, and compared....My points book shows more points than the site....Is the site accurate or is it close?
It may be that the second date in Tagrel is the checkout date - so no points charges for that night. I am not sure how you are calculating it with the book- but Caskbill's program has you enter each night you are staying- so the last date you enter is the day before you check-out. Could that be the difference you are seeing?

CONGRATULATIONS!!

What an awesome prize. reading through your post made me stop and think WOW am I really paying $36,000 plus in fees! UGH!:scared1: Oh well I LOVE:love: DVC and it is well worth it. We own in Saratoga and in Beach Club. We leave tomorrow for Disney and will be staying in both resorts during our stay. I will say "Hi" to Saragtoga for you!

Just got out my trusty calculator and found out I will only be paying about $$20,000 in fees ok so that sounds better.

Ok....so, you dont get charged for the checkout day? So, if we went a Saturday until a Sunday (nine days) we dont get charged for that sunday? WOW....So what is the weekly rate?

You will use points for each NIGHT not each day you are there. So if you check in on Sat and check out on a Sun you are staying 8 nights. You will have to be out of your room by 11 am on that Sunday of your check out day. Does that help some? :confused3

So, if we go a Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun, we only have to use points for Thurs, Fri and Sat? NOw what constitutes a week? Is it a Sunday to a Saturday, or Sunday to Sunday?

That helps a LOT, thanks!!

Any 7 nights in a row are a week. There are no set weeks with DVC like a traditional timeshare. So you could even do Mon-Mon, Tues-Tues, ect. There are also no discounts for booking a week. If you do not have the week listed on your chart, just add the 5 week nights to the two weekend nights for your week total.

Only if you plan to check out and leave on Sunday. If you plan to spend Sunday night, you would need to have points for that night. The easiest way to think of it is think what NIGHTS you will need to sleep in the room til the next morning!

But, if you need to have a room past 11 am you would need to book an extra night. We always leave on the last flight of a day (8pm ish) and check out of our room about 10:30 am to 11 am. We then use the showers in the fitness center if we need to freshen up before we head to the airport. Bell services will store your luggage after you leave the room, they can also store luggage if you are arriving before your room is ready. We have used this service for almost every trip we have ever taken and it works well for us. Check in for DVC rooms is 4 pm and check out is by 11 am. No late checkouts can be permited with DVC as the rooms require more cleaning than a typical hotel room, but there are occasions where a room will be available prior to 4pm, but do not count on that.

Hope that helps some!

Ok...So we go Thurs-Sun, we use points for thurs-sat as long as we check out before 11 on sunday...

Now, on the chart, it says weekly..So, to use the 95 points in December for a week, we could go Saturday until Sunday, checking out at 11, and thats a week? Thats great! You have been helpful, thanks!

no, Check-in Sat., stay 7 nights, check-out the following Sat. would be 1 week. If you want to check-in Sat and stay 8 nights, and check-out the following Sunday- just add the points for one weekend night to the 95 points.

Ok, sorry, brain fart....So to stay a Sat-Sun would be 95 points, plus the additional 12 or so for one weekend night......Do they allow you to book like that? Thanks for the help!!

Yes, you can book like that- DVC is very flexible- you don't have to book a week, or have a fixed check-in day. As long as you have points and they have availability you can book it. :goodvibes
