Hey all!!! Brand new to this board!!! I just wanted to say hi, and let all the DVC folks know I WON!!!! I am the 2007 Grand Prize winner in Disney's year of a million dreams giveaway!! I won an all inclusive Saratoga Springs Vacation Club membership!!!! This is great, and I cannot wait to read about the clubs on this board!!!

Ok, here we go....Last April, my fiance and I went down to Disney for 10 days...while there, we did not win a thing with the dreamsquad....I talked to one dreamsquad and she told us to MAIL IN our entries every single day...So, I did...Sent 2 envelopes a day to the PO Box. Well, on this past Tuesday, I was home, and FEDEX stopped by...Handed me a box from Disney...It was heavy...I opened it up, and it had a book, DREAMS, and a vacation planning book...I thought I won a book!! Then, I read the letter and almost died...First word was CONGRATULATIONS!! As I read on, it said once I send in my affidavit of information, and the return letter, I win the prize, which as the VACATION CLUB MEMBERSHIP...I was in shock...Then I saw the total value...$88,000!!!! Thats right..I get membership at SSR until 2054, ALL DUES paid, money set aside if I want to use the points somewhere else (transfer fees) and ALL TAXES PAID!!!! So I now own a piece of the magic!!! I have to wait about 7 days for verification, and I already have my own vacation consultant, and spoke to the dream squad yesterday!!!! I am so in shock, I have not slept in 3 nights!!! We booked a trip for Dec at all stars, but will cancel that and stay at SSR instead...we are also planning on a long mothers day weekend this year to tour the resort! I was told how I won...a computer spits out tickets that tell dreamsquad people how to deliver prizes...like it says go to pirates at 10am, boat 3, row 4 gets lanyards....Well, it spit me out with DVC winner...There are only 3 DVC prizes....

I do have a ton of questions...maybe someone can help? For instance..if we book the 1 bedroom villa, can a cot, or sleeper chair be put in the room? 12 and 10yr old siblings dont like to sleep together...Is it hard to book a room? I was told by the dreamsquad i should not have problems booking...we want to book Animal Lodge next october for a week, is that hard to do? Is it easier to get a studio? How about park passes? If we buy an annual pass, is it Jan-Dec, or does it run 12 months from purchase? Thanks gang!

What an incredible prize.

DVC doesn't provide cots or extra bedding but some people bring an aerobed. AKV's have a sleeper chair in addition to the couch so that should help there. I think it's not in the value villas as they're smaller.

APs are good for 366 days effective when activated.

A big welcome and a big, big congratulations. You must be over the moon. Ok, take a deep breath, onto your questions.

SSR is your home resort so you can book a room there 11 months out from when you want to travel. Some resorts can be tricky getting rooms at. for example WL may be hard to get to during the Christmas holiday, it's one of the smaller dvc resorts and it's very popular during the holidays so usually the wonderful folks who own there snack it up. If I remember correctly Annual passes are good from the 1st day of activation. You can buy them early and when you actually use them the first time its a year from that date.
If I'm wrong one of the other great folks here will let you know the deal.

Not sure about the cots. You will have a pull out sofa bed. Check and see if SSR has 1 bedroom villas with 2 queens instead of the king bed, that may help.

That is awesome I am so happy for you!! The annual passes work once you buy the tickets from downtown disney or guest services, that following year it expires. As far as A cot I am not sure. The booking processes is so easy! You will enjoy it. How many pts did you win?

I won 220 points.

We want to go to Disney next halloween. We want to book the AKL for us. Probably go a Sunday to a Saturday the 1st week of October. Would that be difficult for us to book?

From what I've seen, it's easier to book 1BR's than studios or 2BR's. I have DD14 and DS11 and there is no way that they will share a bed so we get a 1BR. DH & I get the MBR with king bed and they get the living room. We draw up a schedule before we leave home with who gets the sofa bed and who gets the aero bed each night

I'm guessing that's because OP said it included all of the dues --which I'd rather not think about paying that much in dues over the next 40+ years

and to think, I still haven't even seen a Dream Team member on several trips totaling around 18 days

don't forget about the IRS! They will be coming for their cut. DVC is paying your dues and REAL ESTATE taxes but the winners tax (income) is likely going to be a small bummer. Still, this is a HUGE prize. Congrats! I hate you.
