Trying so very hard not to panic, but I called the promotions dept. at 9am yesterday and left a voice mail explaining I was getting nervous because the concert was so close. I then called back at noonn time when nobody returned my call, and actually spoke to someone. She told me a bunch of calls had gone out on Wednesday, then something happened where they couldn't finish making the calls. She said they were going to be calling the rest in the afternoon, and took down my contact info to be sure she had it.

I still had not heard from them by 4:45pm. I know they go home at 5pm. I called back and left another voice mail begging them to please call me before 5 to set my mind at ease that I have the tickets. I don't think I have to pick the tickets up from the radio station, the DJ who gave me the tickets said I would be on a guest list. I also have backstage passes. I heard NOTHING for the rest of the evening. A little part of me was hoping they wrok into the evening making the phones calls, but nothing.

The concert is TONIGHT! I plan on leaving around 3:30pm because it is at a casino and my friend an I want to hit some slots before the show. I am trying not to freak out.

I think the promotions dept is in at 8:30, I am going to be HAUNTING them all morning!!! Please pray that they just overlooked me somehow, even with 2 messages and that I am going to meet the man of my dreams tonight!

Well I hope everything works out and you get the tickets. And how exciting that you get to meet them.

I think the station is being pretty unprofessional. If I were in your shoes I would be so anxious that I would show up at the station and ask to speak to someone in person if they kept avoiding my calls. Did they give you any kind of details? Usually with radio contests, the meet and greets are before the show.

For our radio stations here--anything you win, you go up in person and pick up.

Have you tried just stopping by the station instead of playing never ending phone tage?

It's the same here, we usually have to pick the tickets up. I asked the DJ when I won last week if would have to pick them up, and he told me I would be on a guest list. Probably because of the backstage passes. I was just waiting for them to call and tell me the detaisl on what time they were going back stage, where to pick up my passes, ect.

The radio station is an hour away. I have to work 11-3 today, but if I can't get through on the phone at 9AM,(just found out they are not in at 8:30) I am going to try to find someone to cover my shift, and I will go in and speak to someone.

Listen to me...at this stage in the game DO NOT CALL the station. Find out the address, get in your car and go there as soon as possible...like now. There will probably be a receptionist in the lobby. In a happy, bubbly way** tell her you were in the area and that you're there to pick up your tickets/passes for the Rick Springfield concert tonight from the promotions department.
**-as opposed to an anxious, fire-breathing where are my tickets you JERKS?!? way...it's important that you come across as a fan of the singer and of the radio station, not potentially as a stalker or disgruntled listener ::yes::.

I assure you, someone will come out to talk to you.

Even if your name is on some 'list', you still need to know where to go to find the 'list' at the casino. The peace of mind you'll get from actually knowing what the procedures are is worth any hassles along the way.

Good luck - I hope everything works out. I remember when you posted about winning! Have a great time and make sure to take some pictures to post here :teeth: on the DIS. Mmmmmmmm, Rick Springfield....dreammmmmy.

agnes!

I think going to the station is best earlier rather than later. If they are doing something with sound check and setting up promotional things around the arena, everyone in charge of the tickets may be leaving the station early.

Try and see if you can get a different phone number from the promotions number, like the main business line and see if they can track someone down to help you.

I've won several things from a radio station. Each time were we told to come down to their offices and get our items. I had to sign a page in a book at the front desk to get my items...and they were behind the desk. Go over there now.

UPDATE!!! I called again and explained the situation to the guy at the switchboard. He put me on hold and went to see what was going on. He came back and told me I was definitely on the list, it was just that they were having a hard time finalizing everything. I would be getting a call sometime today. There are no tickets for me to pick up, I am on a guest list at the venue. So my number one question was answered..I AM ON THE LIST.

I am going to see my man tonight!:cool1:

That is good news! And have a great time :dancer: with Mr. Springfield (I remember when he was on General Hospital...the *first* time!)

Btw, you did get this last guy's name right? Oh, and make SURE you take a camera and take lots of pics :cool2:.

agnes!

Glad you got it squared away! In the future, ask to speak with the general manager of the station. If that person doesn't pick up, leave a voicemail.
The boss has a way of getting the attention of the promotions dept.;)
