I woke up and the first thing I did was fight with my DD

Do you know why?? Because she didn't feel like wearing the jeans that I bought her yesterday, but here is the good one ....do you know why she doesn't want to wear them?? Because they are VELVET and they tickle her FINGERTIPS when she puts them on!!! Did you know that?? You mean you never knew jeans were velvet?? Neither did I!! then she went on to say they hurt ( although I washed them last night so they are not so stiff.
I told her she is to put them on or go to school naked and that she has no saying on what to buy, when she spends her own money then she can buy what she wants! For God's sake, jeans are jeans and they are from Sears which BTW is the only place I can buy pants that fit her.....please tell me this is not going to go on for the rest of my life!!!

My girls are 11&8, if I want them to wear what I buy I usually take them shopping with me. A lot easier.

I can't get my 7yo daughter to wear jeans at all. I've told her she is un-American but she doesn't care. Her complaints? They itch, are too stiff, bind her waist, and are too heavy. She prefers polyester! She must have been switched at birth....

I don't because we have a big problem, most of the things she likes she doesn't fit into , although she's not a big kid we have the problem that what fits for the waist is too long on the legs....and honestly I refuse to pay $25-30 for a pair of pants just because they are fancy , I found myself in the past buying too much and half of it she did not wear because she didn't like it after we bought it....now she has no saying!

Today is no uniform day at school.
Last night my daughter tore apart closets and drawers trying on everything, even my stuff.
She was doing her hair, putting on lipstick, jewels and gazing at herself in the mirror endlessly.
If I giggled I was lectured and then solemnly asked if what she had on looked ok.
Thank Goodness for Uniforms.

I was almost afraid to answer this thread because I'm afraid that fights with dd's are contagious, lol. I've become supersticious about it because they seem to come from nowhere. Things are going along fine and then *wham* we're fighting! lol. Clothes will probably be a loaded issue between the two of you until your dd leaves home. It always has been for my dd and I. I've learned to let her wear what she wants most of the time and only put my foot down on important occassions. We are both happier that way.

Well, well...what a timely issue as 11yodd has to go shopping again this weekend because she picks out clothes that are not practical, ie they have shrunk or had lace ties in them that are now off. I WILL BUY NOTHING WITH THOSE LACES IN THE CLOTHES AGAIN!! OK OK I have learned my lesson and I can't wait to take her shopping and buy clothes that are reasonable.
My boxing gloves are in my backpocket, . But the beauty is I am ready to win this match.

I had the same problem this morning Olga!

It must be in the PA air!

DD wanted to wear jeans, but all her jeans were in the wash. Then we suddenly decided on a dress (well actually 3 of them!) but then they had to be a denim. Finally decided on the Winnie the Pooh jumper, and then had a hard time deciding what shirt to wear.. wanted to wear a short sleeve shirt, instead of a long sleeve turtleneck! Then she complained about the turtle neck... and I even wound up saying "Mommy is wearing a turtleneck!"


Then she didn't want to wear stockings or knee his.. it was 41 degrees this morning... she went out cold! She did wear socks, but fought tooth and nail about socks as well..

I'm glad to know mornings are stressful in other households other than mine. It's one reason why I'm not a morning person (or is it that mornings are worse because I'm not a morning person? I get confused ).

Jeans are velvety? Don't tell my dd, she might boycott them (I love velvety stuff, she hates it, I hate polyester, she loves it ).

Cindy, I don't know what it is but I can tell you one thing....I can't wait to go to discon and leave daddy home with all these problems, let's see how much fun he has!!

To this day (I'm 31) my mom will not buy me clothes. The fights we had were horrible. I remember once taking everything in my dresser and throwing those things all over the room. Don't remember why now. I was a brat, not a "fashion plate".

I just had to reply. My DD is 6 and this happens most mornings when it comes to clothes. The kicker was last night when we went to get her new tennis shoes because she stated her old ones were hurting her toes. We tried on all the tennis shoes in the store that were her size. I'm talking 20 to 25 pair. Two hours later she decided on the very last ones. Of course I am sure this is because I told her there were no more left to try on. She states she can not have that "arch thingy as it hurts her foot and it is always tight where you tie it across the front." I still can't believe two hours for one pair of shoes.

All I can say is.......glad I'm not the only one!!! DD#1 is a royal pain in the butt when it comes to clothing. She is so tiny that all the waists in her jeans are huge!! She is in 6th grade and wears a size 8 slim (if I can find slim!!).

DD#2 is simple with her clothing although she is beginning to get a little picky and DD#3 still wears what I want her to most of the time..............

I get their clothes ready (ironed) the night before and NO changing minds in the morning!!! Or go to school with wrinkled clothes!!!

I now have time limits set. When we go into the store I look at my watch and give her 10-15mins to find stuff to try on. I then give her 1/2hr to get the clothes tried on for inspection.
I had to do this because otherwise insanity sets in for mom as she would stay in the dressing room for an HOUR!!!

you moms are all the same!!!! I'm 22 and fully capable of deciding what i will wear and when i want to wear it!!! I dont need my mom telling me that my shoes are scruffy or my jeans are too tight or my shirt is whatever. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
