I Witnessed Something Awful and I've Been Crying All Night.

As a pet owner and pet lover I'm sorry this happened and it is sad, I love animals and it make me sad and upset when I see dogs wondering around not on a leash owners should not let Animals run around like that, Dogs just don't understand the whole look both ways before crossing. If you love you animals then don't let them run free, they will get hurt.

 for you Lisa. I think you tried your best to make contact with the owners.

I'm so sorry :( Please don't beat yourself up over this. You were trying to be helpful. At least you got ahold of the owner so they could come and get their dog :(

Im very sorry you had to experience all of that. Im am a huge animal lover and I know how it feels to have something happen that could have been avoided. I had a family dog several years ago, and we were celebrating my sisters graduation. We drove to my grandparents house and my parent brought our dog in their van. After hanging out several hours later i started to wonder where our dog was. It is a large farm and we thought the honey was playing with the other dogs. Once I said something to my parents, we all stopped, looked at each other, and ran to the car. My dad pulled open the door, and pulled out our dog already in rigamortis. All I could see over the car was my dogs legs standing in the air. It didnt take long for her to pass in the middle of June with 100 degree heat.

Everytime I think of that I cry and it took me a very long time to stop blaming myself and my parents. It doesnt get you anywhere and just causes more pain. You werent attached to this dog, so you can get over the incident and stop blaming yourself, and wont have all of the lingering feelings of a missed pet.

Im sorry if my story wasnt relevant, but as soon as I read your story I was upset and reminded of my dog.

It was an accident. You are at fault for NOTHING. You did more than most by taking action in the first place. for you from NC.

On a lighter note... I was reading this thread and all of a sudden I got a memory!

When I was about 12 or so, my older sis had a sleep over with a bunch of friends. I soo wanted to be with the "older, cooler" girls, but I was the lil sis- go away lil sis :( Well they had gone out for a walk to the store... and they witnessed a dog get hit by a car. All I remember was they said the dog "flew" through the air... I dont remember anything more... well my next memory is me sitting in the bedroom with all these crying hysterical girls(they were to upset to care I was there), I was bawling right along with them... it was a freaking sob fest!! I remember my Mom coming in and saying to ME --->inserting fake first and last name<--- "Mary Smith why are you crying?" and I just sobbed and sniffled, "I dooonn'tt kkknooow, beecaaausse tthheeyy aarreee" :rotfl2: it really was a funny moment. I didn't see it happen, yet I cried like I did! :lmao:

I'm sorry you had to witness this. Please know this was not in any way your fault. I'm sure the owners knew you were trying to help their dog. :flower3:

So so sad. You did all the right things & everything you could possibly do given the situation. It must still be very traumatic for you:hug:

Einstein just got a big hug and I got a big wet kiss back.
