I witnessed a horrific event tonight...UPDATE PG 4

I have heard about this happening so much lately! How horrible to witness that! I really hope no one was seriously injured.

Hugs to you. I can't imagine how traumatic that was for you to witness and more so for those involved. Prayers that they all make a full recovery with no serious injuries.

its also strange to have witnessed it first hand and then see it on CNN.

As of this afternoon the injuries were still being listed as minor. I'm hoping nothing has changed. I'm waiting for the 6 pm news to do an update.

I'm feeling better this afternoon, not quite so jumpy and distracted. unfortunately the nap didn't happen. Hoping to stay away until the kiddies go to bed!!

Just thought I would update everyone on this.

All but one of the 28 people hurt have been released from the hospital. The most seriously injured has a head injury...I have a feeling it is the woman who was trapped b/c she was uncouncious for a while.

The investigators said that the reason the injuries were relatively minor was that the deck went out instead of going straight down (pancake style). Since it slowed when it hit the other deck and bounced forward that allowed people to grab a hold of things and to react instinctivly.

The investigators have said the deck collapsed because the nails used to hold it to the house were rusty and they were pulled away from the house b/c of the extra weight on the deck. It was only built to hold 60 pounds per sq. foot. Apparently, they had quite a bit more weight than should have been there.

I found out from a guy that I work with that he and his family were supposed to go to this same house this upcoming weekend for a wedding reception. He was pretty flipped out that this is where they were supposed to be.
