I wish I could swing a trip this fall

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to say "out loud" that I really wish that I could swing a quick Disney trip this fall. I could use a little magic right about now.

Our April trip was sort of a bust, my FIL and his wife came down for the begining of the week and just well, cramped our style. The second part of the week a bunch of my family was supposed to join us. My mom, my younger sister & her son & my sister & BIL & their daughter. Well, it was planned as a sort of "make a memory" trip for my neice, who is only 7. My sister had cancer & while she was in treatment & we hoped to beat it back, nobody really expected a long & healthy life for her.

Well just days before they were to come down & join us my sister was hospitalized w/ a skin infection. My BIL & neice and my sister & nephew came down (so as not to disappoint the kids) while my mom stayed back w/ my sister, taking care of her in the hospital. The whole trip was a bust, my neice was/is so very traumatized at seeing her mother so sick, she's just a train wreck. I never would have thought that a kid could be as miserable at Disney as she was.

Fast forward to this week, my sister lost her fight with cancer this past Monday. It's been a h*ll of a week to say the least. I'll never forget that we buried my sister, who was only 42, the same age as my husband, on the 7th anniversary of 9/11, and her 7 year old daughter didn't even want to come into the funeral home. During the visiting hours we took turns staying outside with her. She did eventually come inside, and just before the casket was closed up for good, she did go look at her mother. Poor kid. So much like her mother.

At any rate, like I said I could use a good bit of "magic" right about now, reality is not so much fun at the moment. I wish that our finances were such that I could swing a fall trip, but I'm just not seeing it right now.

So if you've read this far, sorry if I've brought you down, but I think I just needed to get that "out there."

Pixie Dust is coming your way.:wizard:

I'm so sorry about your sister.

Thank you. It's still hard to believe that it's over and she's gone. Well, not over, my BIL & neice will need a lot of help. He's been clinging pretty hard to my mom, whom I also worry about. It's only been two years since we lost my dad, also to cancer. How much can one woman take?

I am so sorry for your loss. People think kids will get over it quicker than adults but I think that is a load of you know what.

Many    and good thoughts for you and your family.:flower3:

Hugs and prayers to all of you but especially to your neice. Karen

Oh I am so sorry for all you are dealing with right now. Can you do something nice for yourself today? Lunch with a friend, manicure, walk in a pretty place. It's so hard to get it all at once like that. Many healing thoughts to you and your whole family.

Thanks for all the kind words and well wishes. I worry for my neice too.

I am so sorry for your loss! Losing a family member is so hard to get through. Here's a big  from me to you, and I'll be thinking about you. I feel for you and the pain you must feel over the loss of your Dad and your Sister in such a short time.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have a windfall of some kind and can afford to go to Disney soon. Maybe planning a "wish" or a "maybe if" trip will help you heal in some small way.
