FORGOTTEN BEEF

1 1/2 to 2 lb. beef for stew
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can Cheddar cheese soup
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope dry onion soup mix

Place beef in crockpot. Mix dry and canned soups together; pour over beef. Cover and cook on LOW for for 8 to 10 hours.

I am on a low fat diet ......so this is out ......but I would of loved to had tried it.....my friends did and they said the taste was fantastic

Thanks sounds great. You planned dinner for me one night this week!!

Tammy

This sounds great, Pum! Thanks for sharing it! :)

Would you serve this with potato or rice or what do you think? DD is getting braces in a few days and this might fit the bill one night. Stew meat cooked slow in a crockpot is usually soooo tender.

I am thinking about rice because it will be easier than fixing potatoes.

Tammy

Might be good over pasta, as well. Thanks.

all had braces and you will be surprised how much they will and can eat.......I thought I needed to buy the dreaded spaghetti o's and meatballs for a few years...but that only lasted on the days that they adjust the braces.....good luck with the braces and also .....I would serve this on rice myself........

DS just got his braces off this last year, so we're starting up again with his little sis. If I remember correctly when he first put them on, his lips were very sore where the brackets rubbed, so we did soft things for a few days. He only needed soft things for a day or so after each subsequent adjustment.

Thanks for the advice. I think I may go with rice. Sounds really yummy.

So you think if I substitued the mushroom soup for celery soup it would turn out OK? Myself and my DD do not care for mushrooms.

Thanks!
Tammy

It sounds like it would work. Let us know how it turns out.

I am in the process of figuring out dinner for next week. I have to start early as part of my weekend is spent getting lesson plans worked out for my DS & DD because we homeschool. I am planning on having it next Thursday and I will let you all know how it works.

Tammy

I don't think you would have any problems substituting a "cream of" soup for the mushroom soup. I do it all the time in various meals I prepare. Also, this recipe sounds like it would go well with rice, pasta or potatoes. I alternate these three with various meals.

Made this one today. Very good. It's a keeper. DH liked it. Very easy.

Served it over noodles. DH & I have enough left for another meal.

Also used that tip from other thread about filling crockpot with sudsy water & letting it soak on low for 1/2 hr for easy cleanup. :)

Made this today and did use the cream of celery. It was wonderful. I served with noodles also. The entire family loved it even DD-10 and DS-8. I was a great meal for a cold day.

Thanks for the recipe. We will be having this one again.

I am off to the store to get the soups and noodles! Sounds yummy! I am ready to try something different!

I fixed this the other day and my family loved it. I served it over noodles and I used low fat mushroom soup. The meat is so tender. Thanks.

I have to try this one. It sounds so good and so easy.

Thanks for sharing it Pumba!
