I will pay $1,300.00 for 250 points

Not being an owner, I had not realized Disney inlcuded in its documents the disclaimers noted above. I just recalled that at my last "official" presenation 6 years ago, renting points was suggested as a possible alternative to using them. As for finding lower rates at a MVCI resort during the off-season, I am certain you could.

Generally, I would not rent 250 points for $1300, but I certainly do not see the harm in placing an offer for that amount in this forum. There might be someone out there who will take two years of paid dues in exchange for one year of points. Or they might care to dicker with the person who made the offer. There is no reason to post an insulting reply to what appears to be a straightforward offer. People should feel free to post their offers without fear of attack by DVC members.

It is that practice of only renting weekdays that hurts all members. It is people like that, who have no intention of honoring the contract they signed, that hurt us all.
I don't remember anything in the contract about this. Does anyone want to comment?

Wendy, Rich's comment comes from past "discussions". DVC is for personal use and there is language regarding using it as a commercial venture. Renting of points is allowed. The "grey area" is when the rental is turned into a side business (getting maximum profit by only renting weekdays) and whether that constitutes a commercial use that DVC should clamp down on.

O, I see now! He said renting , not using. Thanks for the clarification.

It doesn't seem like the threader got the $5/point rental>

As for me, I'd never sell my points to anyone at any price. My vaca's are extremely important! Since we bought our "net value" has increased by over $18/point. I've done better with DVC than I have on some stocks.............
