Two is good. I was probably safe with four. Six is a bit of an overkill. Eight was ridiculous. Then I bought two more. I'm now prepared for Disney "Rambo-style."

I plan on pretty much exclusively using my s95 for photos and HD video. We leave this Friday for Disney. I'll let you know how it goes.

P.S. I never ran out of battery in the past on any camera. I'm just super crazy paranoid. :upsidedow

LOL! I have a friend with a fairly new DSLR heading to Disney in December. So far she has ONE battery. I've told her til I'm blue in the face...... Maybe I'll share your battery photo with her! :rotfl2:

Wow! That's a lot of battery-power. I know you are being extra extra cautious, but how many do you think you'll actually go through? AND, do you prefer to just use fresh batteries over having to charge them?

I bring two batteries and my charger. I know I should have more, but even shooting all day and doing long-exposures on a tripod at night, I've never run out of battery power. I've probably been lucky though. :thumbsup2

I'll charge all nightly, but I have run into issues in the past with generics draining fast or not working in the Florida heat and humidity. So I don't entirely trust the untested white generic ones in the photo. So I have 3 OEM Canon, and the Power2000 is reliable. I take a LOT of video and photos, so I do expect to drain 3-4 daily.

I hope you are driving. I'd think that might raise some suspicions on x-ray or in your carry on. But, I think you can't blame a battery problem for any camera miscue.

Lots of small batteries are usually ok. But I'll let you know if the TSA gets extra "friendly" with me after seeing them. :)

Loose lithium batteries are no longer allowed in checked baggage, so put them in your carryon.

Yeah, I always carry them on. We do Magical Express, so we often head out to the parks before our luggage gets to the rooms. Thanks for the post though. I had thought it was only for larger capacity batteries (i.e. pro equipment).

I have two batteries for my Nikon D90 and rarely have to change the battery during the day. It lasts a long time. My S95 on the other hand uses batteries much faster than the DSLR. I am going to WDW in October and was planning on using the S95 about half the time. Now I am thinking I need more batteries. I currently have two batteries for it.

I do use more batteries at Disney than anywhere else. I use live view when I shoot fireworks and that really drains the power quickly. That said, I LOVE that these newer DSLR's use batteries that hold power SO much longer than they used to.

You might be interested in 2 posts I put on DPreview.com. It could help you plan. I keep my LCD brightness at the lowest setting (1 bar) for the s95, and review time of 2sec. Here's my results on all my batteries.

And in this post, consecutive flash photos:

Of course, all bets are off in the Florida heat. :)

Oh my! I think I've finally found someone more paranoid about losing battery power than I am! Are you also paranoid about running out of memory?? Because I'm also paranoid about that! How many gigs of memory are you bringing?

Haven't run out of memory yet either. :) This year,

Canon HF11 Camcorder with 32GB (backup)

Canon s95
- 32GB class10 card
- 32GB class6 card
- 8GB class6 card
- 16GB class2 card
- 8GB class 4 card

Oh, and a 320GB external hard disk for nightly backups.

:cool1:

Total videos and photos from previous trips average around 80-95GB over 10 days.

And DW thinks my 3 is excessive...LOL

As for memory, I have a 8GB eye-fi card (setup to connect and upload through my iPhone and any open wifi network) and a 16GB SD card. I can alos pool from DWs cards:
2 - 512 MB
8 - 1 GB
4 - 2 GB
2 - 4 GB
1 - 8 GB

Needless to say memory is not an issue, if only I can keep up with hard drive space. I have been known to fill up all of the above (57 GB or so) 2-3 times in one month.

Wow, I have some batteries but that is a lot!

I have 24 Eneloops (thats 6 packs worth) and 1 Kr Battery

Memory wise I my have went a litle crazy for this trip

3- 16 GB cards (Class 10)
8- 8GB Cards all Class 6

But I am packing my Kr and Kx
a Canon P&S
A Fuji XP10 (have 4 batteries for that)
and a Kodak Something or other

Just got back from Disney on Sunday. I'll post a larger report, but the short summary is that using my s95 almost non-stop (more like a complete life-corder than a camcorder) plus photos, I didn't use more than 3 and 1/2 batteries max on any day. So even 4 of the generics were plenty.
