I Will Not Go To A WDW Theme Park On NYE Again!

"TDC Nala : There are rumors (not confirmed) that the Wonders of Life pavilion will close permanently after this holiday season."



That's what I heard yesterday from a cast member.

Now, that's speculation on both of our parts, but it's probably accurate.

We were at Epcot all day and night yesterday also. We arrived at about 10:30 and got fastpasses for Soarin' right away. Good thing because we couldn't go back to use them until 10:18 PM. Everything was pretty well packed during the day and then it got even more crowded after the sun went down. We walked into every ride/show in the Wonders of Life pavillion, including The Making of Me which I had never seen. Found the mistake that everyone talks about.The Universe of Energy and Journey Into Imagination were also not very busy when we got to them and just about walked on to those.

We tried to get ressies for Restaurant Marrakesh for Saturday night, but of course, nothing was available. We ended up eating lunch there on Saturday and walked right in. The food was tasty, but my chicken was a little dry and GF's chicken/beef were also slightly dry. The service was very good and the belly dancer was beautiful!

CM's were handing out horns and hats at 6:15 or so with no queue line set up so it was pretty much a free for all. We got horns but they ran out of hats. We ate dinner in The Land and a nice CM was walking around handing out hats. Thank you so much!

After that it was time for Soarin', which was a walk on with the fastpass. I mean we practically ran up the queue line and right onto the ride. Excellent!

We headed back to World Showcase and staked out on a spot on the bridge that leads to France. We waited about 45 minutes for the fireworks to start and we were very impressed with them. I thought the grand finale was awesome, although the fireworks at midnight from MGM lasted a VERY long time. As soon as the Epcot fireworks ended, we left via the International Gateway, walked over to MGM and hopped the bus for Old Key West. We were back in our room at 1:10AM. I am so glad I choose that route instead of heading out the front of Epcot to the busses.

All in all, I would do it all over again.

As a cast member.... I was at the parks on NYE....I know that it was going to be crowded...as a cast member I know that moreso than the general public....My mom and I went to MK with shoulder to shoulder traffic. That wasn't bad, it was the IGNORANT PEOPLE THAT STOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET THAT PISSED ME OFF.... That makes my blood boil when people do that dude! We left for Epcot ofr lunch.....on our way back out of Epcot....we were told "Sorry FOLKS, THE MAGIC I KINGDOM IS CLOSED....THE CLOSED 2 1/2 HOURS AGO. Ok, with my knowing the inside track, I immediately think TOTAL BULL**** DUDE, LET ME ON THIS FREAKING MONORAIL! I told the CM there, "Well our car is at the TTC lady, let us through...." We got on the monorail from Epcot, walked up to the MK gates....me and my mom were soon on the Jungle cruise....That Cast member lied...The park WAS NOT CLOSED..............We stayed a couple more hrs. @ MK, then it was back to Epcot.....the street traffic @ MK was too much...people kept right on stopping in the middle of the street...We waited 25 minutes to get back into Epcot b/c their ENTIRE LOT WAS FULL! We had to park in the grass!!!!! We tried Downtown Disney, took one look at the parking lot and left.
I am still irate about that lying cast member trying to deny people admission to the MK! How dare you, you get a frown face for the day chick...

We spent NYE 2004 in MK with friends and were there ALL day.
It was too much. Glad I did it, but not in a hurry for a repeat.

Yesterday (NYE) we arrived at Epcot late afternoon. We figured if we got in fine. If not, oh well.

We called our friends who were in MK at the same time. They said this year was wrose than last year. They left after dinner.

We did not have any crowd problems in Epcot. It seemed refreshing after the prior year in MK. At least in Epcot we could walk and get around.

Us and our friends said Disney was stingy with the hats and horns this year. I think only 1/4 of the guests had them. We tried getting ours early evening and they were gone already. We found a few just laying around, abandoned, so got ours that way.

Gonna back you up on this one. It is a "Rumor" as you stated...and a plausible one at that. As a 10 year CM at WDW I can atest to the rumor as it has been floating around for the past few months. Whether or not it comes to be a reality it is still a rumor that is floating around and I see no harm in stating it. It was not like Nala said it was definitly going to happen, the post stated "RUMOR"

Also just wanted to add ThunderMtnGirlSpr'05 I am appauld by your post and would think that as a CM (as you stated you are) you would behave nicer to other CM's that are just trying to do their jobs. MK was in fact closed yesterday for a period of time, "However" MK's actual capacity and when they cut the line off are significantly different. The CM did not lie and for you to be so rude is uncalled for. MK has an unwritten rule that even if they are closed for capcity, if you are able to get to the turnstile they will let you in. They do what they can to keep you from getting there, but once there they generally will let you in the park (because they stay under the actual capacity of the park). I see by your screen name that you worked at Thunder Mountain on the College Program this past Spring... I would have loved to have had you at greeter telling me the ride was closed for "technical difficulties" when you had a "safety 3 issue" just so I could tell you that was BS cause Safety 3 is usually caused by a CM hitting the station stop at an inoportune time, not really a "technical difficulty" generally just someone looking for a downtime. Just because you are a CM does not give you the right to be rude to other CM's.

Sorry everyone else, didn't mean to go off on a rampage, My BIGGEST pet peeve is CM's being nasty to other CM's..

First, I was not rude...READ my post AGAIN... I said thought.......I never yelled, became irate.... My MOTHERS CAR WAS AT THE TTC... Secondly, sweetie, YOU ARE INDEED NOT MY MOTHER......I understand the capacity situation, as it was later on explained. My thoughts that were posted here a few moments ago were just that....thoughts....which I have the all time right to post over and over again. Cast members being rude to other cast members? LADY I DEAL WITH THAT EVERYDAY. Yes, I work @ BTM....our ride goes down...people yell, curse, scream, and ask how long 1,000 plus times. It goes in the left and out the right.

That is JUST IT.... I never yelled at her, and I was not rude. I asked her to let us through and she did. There was no exchanged anger. Dude, lighten up man! I mean really, do you care about people that you don't know? I cannot speak for you, but I sure don't. People are going to to whatever they want. It's how we deal with it that makes us who we are. I never yelled at a guest! I never walked off after being asked the same question 7 times. I go to work, do my job and come home. Sensitive folks here dude.....

We had the best time at the MK, it was a blast! We were at the castle for the fireworks and it was incredible, everyone was having so much fun. After the fireworks most of the people left but we went to Advetureland and ended up riding Big Thundermountain 6 times, 4 times right in a row. It was so much fun.
