uggggg! We have a last min. trip planned for our Anniversary next week, 15th -20th, and I woke up with a sore throat. I thought I had one yesterday, but ignored it in the hope it was just a "tickle" that was weather related... hahaha. My body has decided to add on the fun of a drippy nose and that can't breath unless my mouth is hanging open feeling also.
So I am eating bowls of hot curry :stir: and gonna start on the echnichiea (sp) tea in a while. I am going even if I never leave my room and have to stand on the balcony and watch fireworks, sent my DH out for a take out Anniversary dinner and only get to see any of WDW by being driven around and looking out of my car window!
I figure I can sleep as he drives down, and if we don't get to the parks it will still be a trip. Last year I got sick on a trip to Hilton Head, SC. Don't remember a lot of that trip... except the walk on the beach I insisted on doing.

So if you all have any sure fire get rid of the flu/cold cures I need them.

And this is our 22 Anniversary, out of all those we have only had 2 or 3 where one of us wasn't sick, or having a baby, or some drama with health! I allways seem to forget that when planning stuff for us to do... I don't think the planning is what does it, as we have been sick even when we didn't do anything other then pass a card to each other. :lovestruc

On the other hand I think a ride on EE might tell me just how sick I really am... :rolleyes1

Oh I feel bad for you! This just happened to me. I felt under the weather the entire time, but I sure enjoyed myself just the same. I think that by using Airborne, it helped a lot. My cold/flu never made it to the point where I had to be in bed. Try Airborne, it helped my DH too, he never did get sick. There are other products like that too that may help. It might be psychological, but I am convinced that it helped us.
Good luck!

I'm sorry you're not very well. I was in the same situation when we went at Christmas 2004. I woke up feeling terrible and by the time we got there I felt even worse! But as soon as we got into the parks the next day it all vanished. Disney is magic remember!
My advice would be to get lots of rest and fresh air. I hope you feel better soon and have a great time.

We took airbourne 3 days before our trip, because it was the beginning of flu season and work and school were full of germs.

We also brought airbourne with us and took 1 dose each day to boost our immune system. It's a great formula of antioxidants, vitamins and such.
We were healthy throughout our trip.

The key with immune support items is to take them at the 1st sign of a cold so you can nip it in the bud right away.
It is also a good idea to take cold/flu medicine with you just incase you are ill during your vacation.

Hope you are feeling better for your trip! Have a wonderful time no matter what. :surfweb:

You should be all set. You have a while to get this cold out of your system. I do use airbourne before and during our trip. I also use zicam nasal swabs a couple days before our trip and on the plane. You have 8 days to beat this bug. My husband is usually sick around Thanksgiving. Maybe you need to change your vacation times to spring and avoid the winter colds. :confused3 It is strange how people get sick at the same times each year.

I know how you feel--literally. I'm home sick from work today and we leave on Friday. I'm pretty sure I'll be over the worst but I just know that dd is going to end up with it. Ugh, this always seems to happen no matter what time of year we go.

Well, I have the stomach bug today. We leave on Saturday. Luckily, it is starting to leave. Youngest DS had it 2 weeks ago, DH had it last week and I am crossing my fingers that my oldest DS doesn't get it at all.

My suggestion: TheraFlu. I swear by this stuff. Every time I feel something coming on, I take it and seem to avoid the worst of the cold. You still have a week so you should be o.k. Sending some pixie dust that we are both better by our trips! :wizard:

That happens to me *every* trip! About two weeks out, I get sick, and freak out! Hope you feel better sooon!

Hurry and get enchincea whole leaf capsules and Zicam swabs. Forget the enchincea tea. It doesn't work. Hot beverages may open your sinuses though.

I swear by Airborne. I learned about it here at DIS and used it before our trip in November because I felt a cold coming on. I took the dosages exactly as directed and it never materialized into anything. I have since given it to everyone in my family over the course of this winter and it has either prevented the cold, or at the very least made it very mild. :thumbsup2

I SWEAR BY ZICAM!!! Both my boyfriend and I have taken it many times when we first feel a cold come on, and it definitely made it less severe and was gone within 3 days!!

TRY IT!!!

I'm leaving on Saturday and just tonight have felt a tiny bit of scratchy throat. hoping it's just because of the sudden cold front that came through today and just took some extra vitamin C but thinking of picking up some Airborne tomorrow. Green tea has always helped me, try the brand Celestial Seasonings with Antioxidants. It will really perk you up when you already have some symptoms. Got sick before my last trip and didn't want to take any chances. If you don't feel better by Friday, go to an ear nose and throat doctor and get a shot of antibiotics and they will spray some amazing stuff up your nose to get you breathing again. This should get you back to normal and in park walking shape in 2 days. Good luck and hope you feel better!

Another user of Zicam here. Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I start swabing my nose. Almost everytime my symptoms only last a few days. For a sore throat vitamine c drops work well also. Good luck.

If it becomes full-blown try Robitussin FLU. Both DW and I came down with a bug on our last trip there and 2-3 doses of that stuff got us going again. :stir:

Does anyone know if Airborne is safe for kids? We leave March 2 and my worst nightmare is that the kids will get sick for the trip. I would much rather get it than for them to have to deal with it.

Hang in there kiddo! I had been to WDW 3 times BEFORE I had children...not sick, no problem! been to WDW WITH my kids...SICK 4 times in a row! I WILL BE HEALTHY in October if it's the last thing I do!

ZICAM SWABS!!!!

Seriously, when I was feeling horrible last week before we left, I was told on here to use the Zicam nasal swabs and I swear they worked! I also took Mucinex for my yucky cough and the combo of both of them knocked out a potential nasty cold.

Another vote for Airborne ! April of last year i was hospitized for Pnuemonia and aftwerward I would catch anylittle cold...until I started taking airborn..I take it when my nose starts getting stuffy an my lungs all tickly and everything just goes away.!

Actually, I work at...Walmart! so, yes there is actually an Airborne for children. If you can't find that you can still give them regular Airborn, just look at the directions on the back.

well, count me in as one of the "sickies" - we're leaving on Saturday and today is day 2 of my cold..at least I don't have a sore throat anymore - just a slight drip and a mild cough. I HATE medicine - usually don't take it - but I've been waiting for this getaway for it seems forever so when I leave work today, I'm going to the drugstore and pick up some zicam or airbourne .

are they in pill form or liquid ? - I can't do liquid, ugh!
