For the first time, I used a AAA TA for my Disney vacation. I didn't think any codes/discounts were coming out and I wanted to get a AAA discount plus dining so I felt I had no choice but to contact a AAA TA to get the discount package.

Nothing but problems!!! On Thursday, I called my TA and asked her if she could find out if I could get a lower price using the new code that is out. She called me back and said she saved me $62. And did I want a copy of this? Ummm...YEAH!!

So, I get home work yesterday and I got my receipt from AAA in the mail. I am now paying $62.44 MORE for my trip. What's up with that???!!!! Here's what my receipt says:

Adjusted total price $1275.99

Pd: 12Aug Credit Card ********* $1213.55
Amount due : $62.44

The $1213.55 is from my original AAA package that I paid in full on Aug 12th.

I tried calling the TA and she's out of the office for 2 weeks. I'm sure I can clear this up, and I'm staying at POP so I don't think there would be a problem like WDW saying, "sorry, no more rooms available". But what a pain!!!

Also, back in August, she didn't have all of my Magical Express info listed with Disney. I had to call and verify it and then give Disney the information.

I will never use AAA again. I think I would rather pay full price for a room than go through this again. It's been more work for me to use a TA.

You need to use a TA who specializes in Disney.

I'm sure not all AAA TA's are like this one - you just got one who doesn't know her elbow from her butt.

I agree with the previous poster...I have never used a travel agent for our Disney trips in 15 years of frequent vacations there, but this time I did go through AAA to get the package with dining and be able to keep my AAA room discount. The lady I have worked with has been fine.... 1 trip in to tell her what I wanted a couple of calls to add flight info for DME and leave her a CC# for payment...I always get confirmations of our transactions promptly in the mail and she has taken care of everything.

I even called her Friday afternoon with the code to apply to our existing reservation....unfortunately it was not available for our dates, but she assured me she would check periodically to see if it came up and if I saw it available on line to call her and she would book it right away.

All in all it has been a little easier than dealing with CRO myself and it saved us a little over $200 over booking directly with Disney.

From the moment I changed over to AAA with my package it has been a not so great experience. I don't think I will ever use them again unless the deal is so great I can't pass it up. I don't know, it may be that from the beginning I just felt like a number to them. They promised to do my ADR's on the 90 day mark, never heard from them, called them 3 days later not done. So I am sitting on the phone hoping that I can get close to what I wanted. I don't know, this is my first WDW trip ever, and I have enjoyed doing the planning myself alot. Maybe I am too much of a control freak to even have a TA....AAA or otherwise!

I wouldn't wait the 2 weeks. I would talk to someone else in that office.

All AAA agents are not like that! It's just that there are a lot of them, and some are bad.

Please do call back and talk to a supervisor. Being charged more money is just crazy!

Does anyone know what the cancellation policy truly is? My AAA TA said it was $50 to cancel. Is this actually true? I would like to just cancel my ressie through her and make my own ressies with WDW. I don't want to deal with them any longer.

I used my local AAA to book our very first trip, it was a nightmare! She is suppose to know all about Disney, yeah right!!! Everytime I called, she was always on her own vacas.

A week before leaving for Disney we still hadn't heard from her or received anything. Stopped in to see what was going on and had to wait an hour to talk to her. When I was finally able to speak to her, she had just gotten back from ANOTHER vaca and hadn't had time to go through all the documents Disney had sent her. AAAHHHH!!!!! She told me I could go home and she would call me to come back tomorrow to get our things or I could wait for her to gather them together today. I'll wait for our stuff! Finally after 2 hours at AAA I was finally on my way home. Later that night, I was looking over our papers and it said that we still owed money to Disney. NO WAY!!!! We paid everything off when we were suppose to. We also paid for a extra night outside of our package the same day we put our deposit down on our package. That was what they said we still owed on was the extra night stay. The next day when I went back to AAA to see what was going on, the TA called and come to find out AAA had taken their "cut"out of what we paid for the room. Which according to Disney is a no-no. What should have been done was Disney should have got all the money, then they send AAA their half. :confused3 Anyways, things finally got straightened out and our trip to Disney was great, except for Hurricane Charley.

For our next trip I will be using AAA again so we can get the dining package.
But I have found a AAA TA here on the DIS that is in the same state as me. She knows all about Disney, so I don't have to worry about this happening again.

We did AAA packages twice and since then have found dollar for dollar we get our monies worth when I budget it out and take care of the ressies. Our AAA TA wasn't bad just not knowledgable enough to really get us a good deal. princess:

Well since others on this thread seem to be having problems with AAA...I thought I would post mine. I booked what a thought was great deal thru them for Christmas week. I had been searching on-line & all values were booked, plus airfare was a bit scary flying from Boston to Orlando. Then I checked AAA website & they quoted me 2012.00 for 7 nts at POP including airfare & I thought WOW that's not bad at all. When I mentioned it to DH, he said "go for it" so I booked it. The problem is when it showed up on my credit card stmt it was broken down so that it showed we were paying 972.00 for airfare & 1040.00 from travel impressions. It looks to me like we are paying 148.57 pr nt at POP for a standard room??? I emailed AAA & the agent told me that travel impressions is the vendor they use & that is the price they were quoted at time of booking. I ran the numbers & even if we booked a preferred room it wouldn't be that much with tax. Anybody else ever have this happen? :confused3

I think it has a lot to do with the agent. We've had nothing but excellence with our AAA agent and have recommended her to anyone needing an agent. Even if she is working the phones and not seeinbg clients, she's always returned calls within 15 minutes, and she's rebooked the whole trip this time around due to some changes DW and I wanted to make.

We're compulsive planners, but we've found that dealing with Amy allows us to plan and let her do the legwork. All in all, it's been great and we will continue to use her.
