I Will NEVER Eat At _______ In WDW Again!!

Tony's Town Square I just didn't think it was worth it. Food was VERY plain and I didn't find anything amazing about any part of our meal, not even dessert which usually saves any meal in my opinion!

Agree! Very bland food and bland server!

Il Mulino. I had such high hopes and it was awful. Overcooked gummy pasta. Everything was way too salty or totally bland. So disappointing.

Crystal Palace for Dinner....
Bland and cold food with what I consider a limited selection of main dishes for a Disney Buffet, poor character interaction and bad service. Overall a bad experience.

I have to ask.....with all of these terrible reviews has ANYONE complained to the Manager on duty at the particular restaurant and asked them what they are gonna do about the crappy food/service, etc?? I know that at local restaurants if you get crap food or terrible service a quick word with the manager gets that corrected, a discount or free meal, or some other corrective action.

Has anyone tried this at Disney when it's been as bad as reported here? Just cause they're Disney doesn't mean they can provide crap quality and expect customers to just take it.

If no one is complaining on a regular basis to the Management of the restaurant and only complains online (and I complain online for certain things too) then one must expect the terrible food/service to continue for the next sucker waiting in line to pay $40 for cold, stale, nasty food.

Just over 3 months before we dive into WDW Dining. This thread has me "thrilled" to eat there now. :cool1:

I have never (thankfully) had to complain about food quality, but have complained about one of our servers. We had an 8:15a ADR at CP last year. Our servers uniform was absolutely filthy, very inattentive besides following us up to the buffet when we went, although characters were no where near us. We went to the manager and she was horrified. There was no excuse for her uniform as there are clean replacements close at hand, plus it was opening and not taking any dirty dishes etc back to kitchen. We had to get another servers attention just to get drinks!! Manager wanted to comp our meals and reissue our credits for it. We wouldn't let her as our complaint wasn't about the food. She did tell us not to tip her though. As we were leaving, we did see her talking to our waitress and taking her into the kitchen.

Why would she follow you to the buffet??? Sounds like she needed a change of attitude and occupations !!!

Not sure why she followed us. I could maybe understand if we had small children waiting to see characters, but our children are teens and no character was close to even being near us when we went up, and our main reason for 8:15 CP was to get in park for some great pics before opening. We had also told our waitress the characters weren't a big deal. If we see them great, if not, oh well. She would follow us when we went up and just hovered about 5 feet from where we were. Wish she would have paid attention to when we needed plates cleared or drinks refilled!!

From our May 2012 trip

1. Fulton's- service excellent but food disappointing and pricey

2. Teppan Edo- food, service and setting good but, over the years, the price keeps going up for less and less- there was a time that you got soup, salad, beverage and dessert plus a shrimp appetizer in addition to the hibachi meal. We have many local Teppan places that are cheaper and better so we will pass on this in the future

I have read this entire thread- I think the over all food quality at WDW has deteriorated because of the DDP- since they already have your money the can have mediocre food and service that does not depend on repeat customers

DH and I do avoid buffets as they are expensive in relation to what we eat. At Disney the character buffets cater to families with children who may not be well supervised around the food hence the mess that can happen that CMs cannot keep up with-

The Plaza Restaurant and paradisco 37. The plaza restaurant might as well been quick service. Paper plates and crabby servers. Paradisco 37 didn't care about our reservation. There were a but load of tables open and they sat us on the patio in the rain. Our seats and table were wet. I left in a big fuss. They refused to give us a real table.

Coral Reef was late in seating us, rude waiter, bland food, not overly child friendly and when we got home, we saw they'd tacked on an additional $24 tip (in addition to what we left). Customer service was very nice and credited it back to us though.

Chef Mickey's was bland and so late seating us. We were some of the last customers of the day, and the characters were so rushed that they spent about ten to fifteen seconds each with us with the exception of Goofy who was marvelous and spent a long time plus came back later. The desserts were quite terrible here also.

Tony's Townsquare and Whispering Canyon Cafe. WWC, we tried twice and just never liked the food. The first one was a desapointment and we never ate there again.

I once complained at Cape May Cafe breakfast because the serving trays were continually out of food. For ex, they would replace the Mickey waffles, and a few people would take a bunch because they had been waiting, then you'd have to wait again. Several trays out of stuff, the whole time we were there. It was a bad experience to have to stand around and wait for food to be available.

I told the manager but I don't think he cared.

I once complained about cold fries at Chefs de France and they quickly sent me out ones that were burning hot. He must have grabbed them out of the fryer and ran back into the dining room at full speed.

We had unappetizing food at Big River Grille but it was all so meh I didn't bother complaining because I figured they couldn't do any better than what I got.

Kona Cafe in May 2013 was a COMPLETE disappointment...and we were one of the first tables seated so it wasn't as though it was packed. I had powdered scrambled eggs (for $14.95 is it too much to scramble REAL eggs?), cold potatoes that I had asked to swap out for grits (oh yes, ma'am, you can do that), and then a $4 bowl of watery grits. I was so embarrassed because I had talked it up to DH so much.

The only bright point -- the COFFEE was still as delicious as I remembered.

Hollywood and Vine and Biergarten - ugh, I'd rather eat paste. Of course I live in North Jersey where fabulous restaurants are everywhere so I admit I'm spoiled when it comes to food.

You are all making me quite nervous though, we are going to all new restaurants (new to us) in November and a couple of them are on your list of no go's. My oldest two are on the adult meal plan this time and while not picky, the middle guy might not love some of the offerings. If it wasn't "free" I wouldn't have gotten the meal plan, but we only have to use less than $40 per day (per adult) for it to break even with the 30% off offer and I think we can handle that no sweat.

Which ones are you worried about? Every restaurant at Disney can have an off day or an off entree, but there are a few restaurants mentioned on these boards that are consistently rated poorly and those I do avoid.

Our schedule is:

11/13 - arrival day going to Epcot
Chefs de France
7:20 PM

11/14 Heading over to Islands of Adventure for the day, figured we would eat back at the resort.
Olivia's Cafe
7:45 PM

11/15- Going to MK, must leave by 7pm because of Christmas party, figured we would check out the monorail resorts and watch the electric water parade from Poly after dinner
The Wave... of American Flavors
6:50 PM

11/16 - going to AK, since it closes early we were going to head to DTD in the evening
Portobello Country Italian Trattoria
7:00 PM

11/17 - full day at Epcot, figured we should get one character meal in (we have all boys so princesses don't float their boat) - not expecting much from the food, but thought the boys would love the spinning restaurant
The Garden Grill
4:05 PM

11/18 - full day at HS, MUST see Fantasmic (playing at 6:30) and Osbourne lights so I figured lunch would be better so we don't have to worry about delayed reservations
50's Prime Time Cafe
1:40 PM

11/19 - MK, we might go back to resort for a while in the afternoon, planning on coming back in the evening for shorter lines and Wishes. After reading some of the reviews here I'm worried about this one.
Tony's Town Square Restaurant
5:55 PM

11/20 - last day, must be back to the resort around 4:15 to catch ME
Coral Reef Restaurant
12:55 PM

What do you think?

(We haven't eaten at any of these before, we wanted all new places)

Being in North Jersey/NYC area is why I generally avoid the Sushi. It's fine, but triple the cost for the same quality we have once or twice a week here.

Biergarten- while not 4 Star food by any means, is very enjoyable to us. It's not nearly as easy to find a German buffet with those beers and entertainment!

What do you think?

(We haven't eaten at any of these before, we wanted all new places)

We have done Chefs of France several times and we do enjoy it. It does seem crowded as they do stuff a lot of people in.

We have been to Olivias for breakfast and dinner and loved it both times.

We did the Garden Grill many years ago and loved it both times we went. I think they may be a little different now.

We did Coral Reef two years ago and we weren't impressed. The food was just OK. We felt it wasn't anywhere near worth the cost. I wouldn't cancel though simply based on my experience with this place.

Reading all these pages of poor reviews on so many restaurants makes me glad we don't have any reservations at table service restaurants!

The only I have ever eaten at were Akershush (before the princess meals) and 50's Prime Time Cafe and we enjoyed both.

But. Prices are just getting ridiculous. I am not about to pay $30 - $40 and more for a buffet meal.

The only table service restaurant we are contemplating for our upcoming trip is Fulton's Crab House. There are mixed reviews here, and on Trip Advisor, so I don't know...

We actually prefer counter service. Grab something quick and get on with our day. We generally eat a big breakfast at our resort's food court, then a small snack for lunch, and larger meal for dinner either somewhere like Sunshine Seasons, or back at POR's great food court.

We are not all that interested in the food at Disney. We don't get there that often, so we prefer spending our time on the rides and attractions.

After our most recent trip, we have decided that we probably will not do the dining plan again. We feel the quality of the table service restaurants has dropped and the cost has gotten outrageous. Overall, we have liked the counter service better. We will sprinkle in a few table service places that we enjoy, such as Chefs of France for anniversary, but will stick to counter service. Agree 100% about POR food court. We stayed there in May and loved every meal we had there. Love the 'make your own pasta' and the 'make your own salad'.

Thanks for your input. I admit I would not have picked the Coral Reef if I didn't have the free dining plan. I was going to go with Tokyo Dining, but I wasn't sure if my FIL would like it.
