I will never complain about Disney's food prices again

Yesterday I went to Kings Dominion (a Cedar Point Park) and made an expensive mistake. My DH, DD and DD friend went to eat a CS meal. I saw that the hamburger and chicken sandwhiches were $6.98. I didn't see that the small fries were $3.49 and the drinks were $3.50!!! My DH ordered a large fry at $5.98!!! At least Disney gives you some fries and a drink for 7 or 8 dollars. Our lunch total was $59 for four people! The girls did get a dessert but shared a drink.
The real kicker was the food was horrible, my daughters chicken sandwhich was black, pure burned all over. She was too embarrassed to let me take it back. The rest of the food was bad as well. Sixty dollars and we are still hungy.
So Disney I think you prices are pretty reasonable and tasty.

That's horrible. If the food was that bad I would have sent it right back. I haven't been to KD in years. Sorry you had a bad experience.

We had the same experience 2 years ago at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It was very expensive. We had to split meals. I said to my husband, Wow this was more than disney. My son had a kids meal it cost $8.00. All he got was a hotdog and chips( not even french fries). At least with disney you get fries and applesauce or grapes.

I agree. Hershey Park is the same way which is why we never eat there. And the counter service food at Disney generally isn't bad. I always tell people how reasonable I think Disney prices are compared to other parks and they look at me like I have 2 heads though

Same experience at Cedar Point last year....Disney is not that expensive....Subway onsite, foot long, 13.95!

Exactly. That's why I think it's so funny to hear people complain about Disney prices. Went to Sesame Place in PA and Storyland in NH. Both were filthy, not to mention expensive!!! More so than WDW.

Cedar Point is outrageous on food prices especially drink prices. It's really a shame because things like pop only costs them pennies and the mark up is HUGE.

I'm so with you! I've always asked where people were buying such cheap food that they complained about Disney prices. At least at Disney you can find good counter service food in restaurants that are clean. So what if the last person left some trash under the table? It's better than the Elitch Gardens here where I wouldn't even let the kids touch the table and I had to disinfect the areas they wanted to sit on

Exactly, we went to sea world and we got the basics - it was still outrageously expensive for three people!

wow, that was crazy. Almost everyone I know complains about dining prices in Disney but when you think about it, we are paying for quality food and price is just average compared to many places. I never recall having a bad meal in Disney (well maybe Cosmic Ray) but it's nothing near like your daughter's food.

I hate to be the negative one here, but I think complaints about Disney's pricing are justified. In my case, I've accepted that food at Disney World (or Las Vegas, or New York City, or any other tourist destination) will be overpriced compared to the real world.

However, WDW disappoints me when compared to Disney's previous offerings. The prices for WDW food have increased much faster than the overall rate of inflation. At the same time, variety of choices has gone down at each restaurant. Disney heavily promotes the dining plan in order to appeal to people who want a value. But in order to make the DDP worth it financially, Disney has to inflate the prices of its food to make the plan look better by comparison.

So maybe Disney is more fairly priced than King's Dominion. But things used to be better, and that's where a lot of the disappointment comes from (for people who only started coming to WDW in 2005 or later, this is probably less noticeable).

I have said for years that I pay more for food when I go to a ball game or Cedar Point than at Disney. And the food is much better at Disney! I just figure the price of meals at Disney or anywhere else I vacation as part of the price of vacation and don't let it bother me too much. Yesterday DH and I went to the movies and my (very) small popcorn was $7! I didn't feel at all bad about the pop in my purse! (yes, in Ohio we call it pop also)

Although I know Disney food is overpriced, I've always felt it wasn't was overpriced as some other parks. And, I tend to think most of Disney's food is fairly good for food that must feed the masses.
That being said, I have to plug Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana, the closest theme park to my part of the world. Although their food is overpriced as at any theme park, they do offer free fountain soft drinks and sunblock at their park and water park. There are fountains scattered throughout the parks where you can refill your cup yourself as often and as much as you want.

I completely agree. Sesame Place has some of the worst food of any theme park I've been to. Disney's CS is better quality and better priced than all of them.

The last time DD and I went to Cedar Point we got footlongs at Subway the night before (get your sauce on the side) and left it in the car in a cooler. We split a chicken strips and fries for lunch, and had the subs for dinner.

I think we bought a snack somewhere along the way, too.

The food is definitely expensive. I never used to bring food, eating there was always part of the "experience" but not now at those prices.
