OMG, that was so much fun. A friend had a bunch of us over and we had a great time. I brought some pictures from AK with me and the page turned out very nice.

Oh no .... another hobby.

Best hobby out there if you ask me! Glad you had fun!

Margie I just finished an 8-week class in Created Memories. It was lots of fun and very educational when it comes to preserving memories.

In 8-weeks I did a small album for a cousin on her Families History in Italy, 6 small albums for the tables at her 90th Birthday Party, a 3x2 foot poster on Granddaughter life, a Halloween album for another Granddaughter, and the reason I took the class, a 80 page album on our trip to Italy with journeling on the pages. I still have about 12 pages to do, with holidays approaching I've slow down a little.

I need to get cracking next Sunday we are hosting a Gingerbread House Party. Something I do with my Children and Grandchildren every year. I need to bake and assemble 10 Gingerbread Houses before Sunday. The Sunday after Thanksgiving we host another party. My children all show up and we make our Wreaths and Kissing Balls. Plus I'm hosting Thanksgiving. Only a small group of 12 this year.

I also like to make my own Christmas Cards.

I hear you when you say "Oh great another hobby" More craft products to find a place for.

This is a great hobby though, very addicting and also very rewarding. Albums make great gifts to family and friends and nothing says love better then something you've created for that special person. Good luck with your memory making.

wow! You sound like the best Grandma! can I come!?!?!? I remember going to Grandma's to make her famous popcorn balls! Oh how I wish I had pictures of that! Just memories in my head! Don't even have her recipe! So can I just suggested one thing to go with you scrap pages of the ginger bread houses...the recipe! So this tradition can be handed down to there kids!

Oh how fun!!! The longer I spend on this board, the more I want to get into scrapping! (Maybe once I get a job - only then I suspect I won't have the time! :o )

Mamu, I know this is OT but how do you make your kissing balls? And I have to say I'm impressed that you BAKE your gingerbread houses! Everyone I know uses graham crackers & canned icing. ;)

Great idea, Spinning! Especially if it's one of those "until it looks right" recipes like my grandmother used.

Thank you all for the compliment. I do hope to leave some great memories with my children and grandchildren.

Thank You Spinning for that great idea. I will add the recipe.

The kissing balls are very easy. Through the year I purchase large styroform balls with the 40-50 % off coupons. I'll purchase 1 pre-assembled wreath for each ball. Disassemble the wreath. Add a hanger, usually use coathangers. Straighten out the the hanger keeping the top u-shape. Push the hanger through the center of the ball, adding a u-shape on the bottom and pulling tight. Cut the branches to the size you want about (2 to 3 inches) and starting add to the styroform ball. Try to pick branches with strong stems. When you are done adding branches re-shape. I usually tie a bow at the top, add ribbon streamers to the center bottom. There are craft sticks with wires on them that I use for the streamers and any thing I add to the ball. Small glass balls. holly berries, pieces of ribbon cut on an angle and tied with a wire stick in the middle if it. Be creative but remember most things will not be seen unless they are a bright color, whites and reds are the best colors to use. Total cost is usually in the 10 to 12 dollar range and they are 100% better looking then the expensive balls you purchase at the nurseries.

welcome to our VERY ADDICTIVE world!
Hold onto your wallet and have fun!

OMIGOSH Mamu- will you adopt me? Neither DH's or my family are sentimental or have traditions -
and I the extremist have started tons of them! ;)

also you got a LOT done in that eight week calss- great job!
Patty

Glad you had a great time at your Creative Memories party- it is a fabulous hobby you are about to embark upon- more than a hobby really....you are passing down family memories for years to come!

Creative Memories is the best way to get started!!!! Just get going with the basics and THEN go and visit a scrapbook store. ;)

Welcome to the world of scrapbook addiction!!!!!!

This is bad. I got back pictures from my cousin's wedding today and while I was looking at them I'm thinking "this one would be nice in an oval cut and this one needs to be cropped and this one ....".

I'm in deep, deep trouble!

You're in for it now! That's how many of us got hooked. It's a great hobby but oh how it can take over your life...! The one good thing about an SB addiction is that when you get the itch, you can walk into your LSS, buy a couple of sheets of paper and some stickers for $3 and at least quell your desire for a little while. The trouble is that you can get that itch a few times a week!

Mamu - my DD (now 9) and I build a gingerbread "village" every year. We got the idea from Family Fun a few years back. We had skiiers, penguins, snowmen, polar bears, and an ice skating rink. (Yes, we tend to go a little overboard.) We have a wonderful time doing it! In years past, I too have baked the houses. But last year my local bakery put together some basic structures and I bought them instead. I felt like a cheat but it saved so much time. On Saturday, we are going to a fancy hotel in Boston where the chef is doing gingerbread house demonstrations - we hope to get some tips from an expert.
