I'm so proud of myself! I did it and didn't come out looking like Joan Crawford. It was WAYYY better than tweezing. I've never had a terribly full brow that made me look like a cave woman or anything but they still look really nice and shaped. I was quite proud of myself so I went to show DH....

He looked at me and said "What". Then he says "I can tell something is different from the way you are looking at me but I can't see what".

Even when I pointed them out he couldn't see the difference. I told him he better sleep with one eye open or I might use the waxing kit on him! :p :teeth:

Too funny. My eyebrows are very blonde and I've had them waxed a couple of times but I can't even tell the difference, myself. I'd rather have my eyebrows waxed than tweezed anytime, though.

Yes, I've gone through 29 years of tweezing afraid to wax. Ha!

I wax and trim and tweeze my eyebrows routinely. I have extra long hairs in mine, and they just go everywhere. (Probably, I'd look like a female Albert Einstein if I didn't).

Just reading this posts made me flinch
Glad it worked for you!
Have a disney hairyless day!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I love to be able to do that! Not sure if I could, though...I'm such a baby re pain...I may end up with wax around my eyebrows forever. ;)

Congrats! I've waxed my own in the past, but I HATE tweezing. I usually get mine professionally waxed though, because I need them trimmed as well and I refuse to do that on my own.

HAHAHA, something tells me you will be getting a new tag over this one.. and NO, I AM NOT A TAG FAIRY, but if I was, I bet I could make use of your "waxing" hahaha!!!

There is NO WAY you would catch me waxing anything near my eyes!!! OUCHIE OUCHIE OUCHIE!!!!!!!!!

As Pop Daddy would say..... PIC! ::yes::

I am quite fair and have never had enough eyebroys to pluck, but I have had one disastrous experience with facial hair removal. As I hit my mid fifties, I became convinced I was growing a mustache. Not just the very fine hairs I had become accustomed to, but it felt like there was at least one hair of a much sturdier variety. But, despite being unable to see it, I could definitely feel it.

AHA I thought...I will wax it away...people do it all the time...how hard can it be? I was quite happy with this plan and went off to buy what I needed, actually thinking this would be fun. fun???? how wrong could one be? Anyone who has ever waxed an upper lip knows what I mean...the pain is unreal. I pulled the strip off and just stood there, in shock, staring at myself in the bathroom mirror, realizing I had only done one half my lip and would now have to do the other half.

To anyone considering doing this : do NOT do it unless you begin to look like Hitler ! Oh....and the kicker....that illusive hair I was trying to get rid of....even after the waxing, when my lip was obviously as bare as it will ever be again, I could still "feel" the damned immaginary hair.

Oh...and that thing you always hear about waxed hair growing back in finer.....major myth in my case...I have now created a problem for myself, where previously I only had a phantom problem. But then, I have always been good at that.

I've been thinking of trying it for me and my 13yo DD. Any tips for first timers?

I've gone to get mine done a few times...it's only like 9.95. BUT...Walmart has this great wax strip that has the arch already made, so it works wonderfully...for less than 5bucks... BUT..they sell out alot, so it's hard to come by.
Other than that...I usually just tweeze...OUCH!

I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for as long as I can remember but I wouldn't have the guts to do it myself. I'm pretty sure bad things would happen

You all are making me want to just get right out there and have something waxed!!! NOT!!!!!!!!! :p

Why would a 13yr old need this done? I don't know, seriously. Isn't it too young.

I usually go to the salon to have mine waxed but I did it myself for the first time today too.

Actually, 13 is not too young. She is having hair starting to grow everywhere at this age, and she is also at the age where she doesn't want the hair....clothes, music, boys, hairlessness is all starting now... (poor mom)........anyway, I am a licensed professional and I can give you a few hints. First, don't do it yourself....but, if you must, read on.
If you don't tolerate pain well, try numbing the area first. You can use ice or a numbing spray (which can be found at a Sally's beauty supply-in the hair removal section). Be careful not to get it in your eyes!! We spray our finger and wipe it on and wait a few minutes. Also, another tip-apply the wax in the direction the hair grows and rip the wax off the opposite direction hair grows. BUT, before you rip---pull the skin as taught as you can in the opposite direction you are going to rip....this is the most cruical step to as painless as it gets. Make sure that skin is pulled tight....you will have MUCH less pain!
It is much easier to let someone else or a professional do this for you because you cannot anticipate when the "rip" is coming......but, if you must do it yourself...good luck and happy ripping. I will answer any questions anyone has........

She's going to be doing dance competions this year, she has heavy eyebrows and it will help with the makeup to have it done. She started tweezing them last year it's just hard to get them right. Quess it's something I don't see as having an age limit, if they want to do it then it's okay with me.

I don't have girls, so I don't know. I don't remember even shaving at age 13, but so much has changed. I didn't even have my period at age 13. See....I had no idea.

I tweeze and it's not bad. Never had a wax, not afraid....just think I do ok myself. :p I don't know if mine are right either. :rotfl:
