and I feel like crap! Let me tell ya, it ain't easy replacing that bad boy. (no, i didn't buy the insurance!). Oh well, guess I'll be checking those pockets from here on out. :teeth:

I need a forehead slap smilie!

I wouldn't feel guilty. He should have emptied his own pockets or done his own laundry. just my opinion though. It does stink though!!

I know someone who accidently flushed her phone. She let it dry out a few days and it still works.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I agree totally. Plus, any money you find is automatically the property of the launderer!

He should have checked his own pockets.

DH's cell took a swin in the pool last year. We don't know how long it was at the bottom of the pool. All he needed was a new battery.

I hate when that happens!

I washed my own last year... luckily I was due for an upgrade!

This reminded me of last summer when an employee from the pool company came out to help us get the pool up and running. He leaned over to show us how to apply some chemicals and his cell phone fell out of his shirt pocket and landed in the pool.

He cursed, quickly scooped the phone out of the pool, then told us he'd be adding the cost of a new cell phone to our pool bill. We were pretty sure he was kidding, but we checked the bill after he left, just to be on the safe side! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree, he should have checked himself. Perhaps it will dry out in a couple of days. Hopefully it all works out.

I agree with you there! I made $15 last week!

Don't feel so bad, he should have checked his own pockets! :thumbsup2

My DH has dropped his in the river while fishing. :rolleyes2 I think that was the same trip he dropped his new sunglasses over the side of the boat too.

I washed my son's phone last year. Stupidly, I tried to turn it on instead of letting it dry out first. DH decided to change providers anyway, so it was not too painful (I just washed his billfold earlier this week, so I guess neither of us learned a lesson).

:cheer2: YEA!!! :cheer2:

(BTW - signup for freecycle in your area, I've seen similar things happen to people and they've gotten "old" (read: 1st owner changed plans) hand-me-down phones passed on to them for their phone system. Could work if your ever in a jam.

I dropped mine in a beer once. :lmao: Not kidding...
After a few days it dried out and worked just fine. I am much more careful now...

I agree he should have checked his own pockets, but I do stuff like that all the time :teeth:

My friend dropped her phone in a toilet, she was happy it happened before she went. It dried out and worked just fine.

I'm guessing he doesnt have a holder for the phone.

Every phone I've had has had a leather case with a clip on it. There is no way you can put my flip into your pocket, with the case on it. it's also much easier to not loose that way.

That said- if he's old enough for a phone, he should be old enough to keep track of it....easier said than done, since adults do this all the time!

My MIL washed DH's pager when he lived at home with them. She told him it shouldn't have been there, because he knew she didn't check pockets.

He hasn't had anything else like that washed, but he didn't learn much. He buys the insurance on his cell phones now, and he's had 6 replacement phones.

Glad it's still working!

I dropped mine in a beer too. I was so glad to see I was not the only one this has happened to.
Though mine didn't work after drying out. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I had dropped it on the ground too many times too.

Last year at Islands of Adventure DS15 (at the time) ignored the warnings on the Hulk and left his cell phone in his pocket (loose gym shorts). You guessed it - he got off the ride and realized that his phone was gone! There's a large net that catches many cell phones, sun glasses, etc. but his wasn't in there. On his third ride on the Hulk he spotted his phone in the water under the ride. They wouldn't/couldn't get it for us but were very nice about it all.

Then in the summer he dove into the pool with his (new) phone in his bathing suit pocket. Didn't work even after drying out. Needless to say, we now have insurance on his phone which he pays for. DS12 just got his first phone for his birthday and we got the insurance right away! It's worth the $5 or $6 per month for teenagers!!
