Is this true? The CM that I spoke with said that the resort fee can no longer be waived - as of a few months ago. She said it was too difficult for housekeeping to be able to distinguish between who paid the resort fee and who didn't.
Anyone else been told that? We are 14 women going in October,
staying in 7 rooms, so that is another $56 a night!!!

I stayed at the Dolphin just a few weeks ago, and I had no trouble waiving the resort fee. BTW, the newspaper can be had for free at the Bell Stand.

I was just at the Dolphin from April 3-7, and didn't have a problem waiving the resort fee. Anybody know for sure?

As of when I went in Dec. it could be waived. I will check on this and get back to you.

I was there from 3/22 - 4/1 waived the fee with no problem...

I was told the same thing when I made my reservations a few weeks ago. Supposedly it was a recent policy change. I wonder if it is not in effect yet for current reservations, but has a date in the future that it is starting.

My spouse just called the Swan to check this out. Fortunately, when we made our reservations a couple of months ago he asked then to have the resort fee waived and according to the woman he talked to, we will be "grandfathered" in. She said they never got the details why, except that there was a legal reason. They had a big meeting and were told they could not waive it any more.

She told him that because we had the fee waived before the policy change, we should definitely NOT use the coffee pot in the room or make any phone calls from the room, because they will charge us an "arm and a leg" for coffee refills, local calls or even credit card or 800 calls.

Hope this helps!

I believe if you waive the fee you can still use the coffee pot as long as you bring your own coffee and filters.

Also, be careful when checking out.....they charged us $6.00 for a bottled water that we never drank. It was on our entertainment center when we checked in and when we left.

This is a pattern in the travel industry--add these fees so it hides what is really a room rate increase.

Okay, call me uninformed, but what is a resort fee and what does it entitle you to receive? Someone posted that housekeeping can't keep track of who paid and who didn't. Does that mean if you waive it they don't make up your room?

disney4us2002 - this is from Glo's Swan/Dolphin FAQ thread:
Resort fee
$8 a day Resort Fee (which can be waived)includes:
daily newspaper
Health club
Free local (1 hour) and toll-free calls. After 1 hour each additional minute is .10 .
unlimited coffee

I am surprised that Disney has not tried not tried to implement some time of "resort fees" at their numerous resorts.

I just returned from the Dolphin and I had my resort fee waved. I had not requested this prior to my stay. I also received a daily newspaper(comp) because I am a starwwod gold member.
