I was told I couldn't take a picture of Donald Duck!

You can buy these if your really worried.

most of the pictures I have of characters are shots that were taken in between one family leaving and the next family stepping up...I do this every time we go, but I am always far enough back or to the side and have never had a problem... like others have said if it was really a "law" there would be no cameras at Disney... if someone wants to take a picture of someone elses kid they, with todays technology they could do it from such a distance that no one would even know. :scared1:

I haven't read all the posts on this thread so i apologize if i'm repeating someones answer. But i believe this is a copyright issue. When i was there with my dh last december we got our picture snapped with the castle in the background at night and then we asked if we could get a picture of just the castle and the cm said no, they aren't allowed to do that for copyright issues. That someone could use that photo to make profit on.

Not sure if that's the case in this situation but thought i'd throw that out there.

So this image taken without a soul in sight would be copyright infringement? You forget there is fair use which applies to all works of art including photography. This has been a fun thread. People are really mixing up what is

"What happened to innocence and when did we start seeing evil everywhere ?"
Unfortunately a lot of people see the world in "good" and "evil" terms. Things are either right or wrong, black or white, Republican or Democrat etc. etc. McCarthyism and the cold war are alive and well - we've just changed the names and locations of the "enemies".

Want to be really freaked out? Check out the registered sex offender website for Florida. It maps exactly where registered sex offenders live in relation to an address you put in. Evidently there is one living .4 miles from where my DD and I stayed offsite last year. Did it make me want to stay home and never leave my incubated, isolated little world? Of course not, for heaven's sake. There are 19 listed in my town here in sheltered little Vermont.

I am the original poster and I was debating if I should respond again, but since everyone is still on it, Like
PixieDust32 said, it happened to her the same day with her Mom. So I am now saying I had an encounter with a not so happy CM. This thread was about a cm telling me I can't take a picture and I was confused on way. I didn't line drop, or snap a picture of anyone's Child I didn't interfere with anyone's time or space. I was standing near the bushes snapped a picture and that was it. I am so mad my goofball brother was looking at my pictures rotated the picture and didn't save it so I lost like 19 pictures off my camera. I wanted to post the pic it was of Donalds head and that was it. I also lost the picture of my son with the Hansen brothers:sad1:
This has gotten so out of control, come on people this was about me :rotfl:

Sorry I had to lighten the mood.

Everyone take a deep breath and once again let's agree to disagree.

Aww you lost that picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh I would be so upset!
Sorry about that :(

As a professional writer, that makes no sense to me. For example, say I am doing a story on WDW or Disney Cruise Line or whatever. I can certainly take my own photos at any of those public places and use them in an article or book, which would make me money.

This thing is just spinning off into looney land. :goodvibes

For cryin' out loud, the CASTLE is one of THE most-photographed icons on the planet. :3dglasses

It went to Looneyland, by way of Crazytown, with a detour through Wackoville, and a stop for snacks in Bonkerscity a looooong time ago.

When it should have made a trip to Getaclueville and Senseofhumortown.

Not quite sure who your "eyeroll" is directed too, but i'm not mixing anything up. I'm just stating what a CM said to me. If you re-read my post i said that i have no idea if that is the case here but i just thought i'd throw out what that CM told me.

Vcgirl was just saying what the CM told her.

Sounds to me like your hysterical behavior would scar the poor kids even more, reiterating the idea that they're not safe, EVER, ANYWHERE!! At worst, it's scary to them and would make them feel even more vulnerable and insecure, and at best you're embarrassing the heck out of them.

And while you're freaking out about some innocent schmo who just wanted a candid of a character and didn't give two flips about your kids, who's watching those kids while you're running around trying to find a cast member?

Protecting kids is one thing, but taking it to a bizarrely extreme level at a THEME PARK is just nuts.

This is a terrific point. Why reiterate that these kids are not safe anywhere. If a person shows up who has been stalking your family and you catch him taking pictures of your family on vacation then yes call a security guard, but for you to go to a place that is quite possibly the most photographed place in the world and ask them to not pick your kids at shows, disable the photo machine so no one else can get there memory and be beligerent to other families photgraphing characters. I tried to sugar coat it, but I will just say that is just plain selfish and crazy. And guess what I have known quite a few people who have been raped and molested( basically sexually abused in some way) And in most of the cases it was someone they knew quite well either family or friend. Actually I only know one of the SEVERAL that was abused by a stranger. Please do not tell me that you have the right to impose crazy on someone else's vacation. If this kindof mass photography freaks you out so bad and these kids are in such a dangerous position then really was any common sense used in bringing them to Disney.:sad2:

I am very sorry for whatever horrific thing these kids have been through, BUT until they are in a better safer position it would be in THEIR BEST INTEREST to take them somewhere quiet and laid back where the foster parents don't have to be so high stung. Kids feed off of the adults they are with. A vacation is good for down time, but not if they spend the whole time feeling like they are surrounded bt the secret service!
