I Was Ready to Put Contemporary DVC Rumor to Bed...But

Thats just great detective work. They never said no CRV just not the next one.

I think they will start on CRV at about the same time they start on the stand alone AKV building ir towards the end of completion.

I don't think it is a matter of IF but more of WHEN! I'm thinking like I'mNoPrince. Once one is ready it will be time for the next.

WOW!!!! Great find! More fuel for the rumor mill. But seeing it in print makes it so much more plausible that it is closer than we all think.

Fascinating....

so if I am reading this right, they are planning to use the STOL strip as the contractor trailer/equipment staging location and parking area for contractors during the contruction.

I only quickly skimmed the document, but I don't believe it says anything about specifically what/where the "DVC @ the contemporary" will be, but it makes a lot of sense to me that they would try to keep the contruction vehicles and offices as well as workers' parking away from the main grounds of the CR during contruction - probably use shuttle buses to take workers over to the site.

I think that this will happen as the next property after AKL, but remember, just because they apply for and are issued a permit like this, doesn't mean they have to go through with it.

Hey ADP did you take that from that popular rumour board that shall not be mentioned?? or do you have it from a different source? or are you the source?

The permit doesn't expire until Sept 6, 2011 so they have plenty of time to play around with plans/decisions/etc.

I really hope it does eventually go thru though... CR was our fave before joining DVC.

If you read the details, this has to do with water and drainage at the STOL. Exactly the first step you would do to a site you are about to start construction (ground prep). This is pointing more towards next DVC at the STOL, not Contemporary. You don't need a permit to store equipment at the STOL. Also, take a look at the drawings and you will see parking and construction buildings.

But the permit application specifically refers to it as being for "DVC @ the Contemporary".

They are talking about building new parking and putting buidings (even temporary ones) under roof - to the tune of nearly 3 acres of area. This is a water management permit so the amount of space that will be paved/covered is the reason they need a permit. If it was just parking equipment on the existing STOL strip I'd agree, but they are asking for more than that.

But the name of "DVC @ the Contemporary" says to me that the resort won't be at the STOL.

A building the size of what we have seen could have hundreds of workers on the job at any time - they need a convenient place for those people to park and not be too far away from the job site, but still be isolated from impacting the guests that will be at the resort.

This is the single best piece of evidence FOR a DVC at the Contemporary that we've seen so far, IMHO.

This has made my day!!!!! :cool1: I so badly want CRV to happen and have been depressed ever since AKV was announced. But, this brings back new hope. I'll just keep crossing my fingers. Thanks for sharing!!

I agree, this clearly looks like the building of a construction yard/office for the Contemporary DVC, not it's location. Really, looking at aerial photos/maps, there really would be no place else for them to stage the necessary equipment, personnel, and supplies. Yes, the STOL currently has some storage, but I think they need the permit because they are adding some (presumably temporary) construction office buildings and will have additional parking.

I would still guess its going to replace the back buildings of the Contemporary, probably a full demo/rebuild if they are going to need a seperate construction yard.

Does anyone remember how they staged equipment and personnel for the other DVC constructions, particularly the existing resort add-ons?

No, it actually says:
"DVC @ The Contemporary Construction Trailer Compound"

This compound is at the STOL. If you read the specifics it has to do with ground prep.

And then there is the theory that folks at Disney just apply for construction permits etc to fuel the rumors........

I think you guys are misreading this. The newest DVC is going to be housed in a bunch of construction trailers parked at the Contemporary. Jeff Foxworthy is to the the hotel manager or executive host. Hooooo-boy!

Maybe they will have some two-story trailers (for folks that gots money).

My theory.............those unused "Katrina" trailers will finally find a use as the newest DVC...........It's the perfect solution for any resort bashing: It'll be called "Move Your Mobile Villa to Your Favorite Resort" DVC! How cool is that?? :cool1:
